  13. +NalaniEke
  14. englanddg: do you self-define as "white"?
  15. englanddg: are you unavailable for conversation?
  16. My preference is for us to discuss your "white" assertion.
  17. +pilgrim`

  36. If you're responding to my question I have a few pointers:
  37. 1 - Are you englanddg?
  38. 2 - Are you addressing whether or not you self-define as "white"?
  39. +Ionizer
  40. hm
  41. +englanddg
  42. White is a matter of power and privilege.
  43. +NalaniEke
  44. If you cannot answer yes to the two questions, I recommend setting this question aside.

  47. englanddg: You have shared with me you are unavailable for conversation on the things you talk about.
  48. Position accepted.
  49. It was not my preference, but we don't always get what we want.
  50. +Ionizer
  51. right
  52. i mean i was always handed my jobs
  53. on a silver platter
  54. i never had to work in a warehouse for min wage when i was a kid or anything
  55. sitting at the top, counting inventory when it was 102 degrees out and the top of the warehouse was about 115
  56. i never did that
  57. englanddg: i hope ur being as sarcastic as i am
  58. +NalaniEke
  59. Ionizer: why would we be interested in what you did or did not do as a kid
  60. +Ionizer
  61. b/c now it sounds like ur serious
  62. b/c i am white
  63. and i am well off
  64. but its because i worked hard
  65. not because ia mw hite
  66. +NalaniEke
  67. Ionizer: Why do you self-define as "white"?
  68. +Ionizer
  69. NalaniEke: b/c that's the fucking color of my skin
  70. and yuou dont have to be racist to see color
  71. +NalaniEke
  72. Well, it's not actually the color of your skin, right.
  73. You're probably a tan or peach.
  74. +Ionizer
  75. ppl who say "i dont see color" - i tell them to go see an eye doctor
  76. u can see color and not be a racist
  77. its normal
  78. +NalaniEke
  79. That may seem pedantic, but seems relevant when you said "it's the color of my skin"
  80. When, in fact, it is not the color of your skin.
  81. +X-Scale
  82. NalaniEke: how deep are you into identity politics ?
  83. +Ionizer
  84. pilgrim`: was there an "in" missing
  85. "he comes in her often"
  86. +NalaniEke
  87. Do you agree your skin does not match the color white, Ionizer?
  88. +Ionizer
  89. NalaniEke: correct
  90. +NalaniEke
  91. X-Scale: how do you define identity politics?
  92. +Ionizer
  93. it is the common usage of the term white
  94. that i am referencing
  95. +NalaniEke
  96. Ionizer: so, it's a symbol for your skin color?
  97. Agreed?
  98. +Ionizer
  99. its a common agred upon terminology
  100. +NalaniEke
  101. That is somewhere in the vicinity of your actual skin color.
  102. +Ionizer
  103. not a symbol
  104. +NalaniEke
  105. So, the idea is important, then?
  106. +Ionizer
  107. just like black people arent actually BLACK
  108. +NalaniEke
  109. "the common agree upon terminology"
  110. Rather than your actual skin color
  111. Can we set aside your skin color, then?
  112. +Ionizer
  113. NalaniEke: no b/c saying one was tan-beige or some yellow-hue is confusing
  114. +NalaniEke
  115. Tan seems just as easy as white, as they're both monosyllabic.
  116. But, I'll accept that.
  117. It could have been tan, could have been white, but ended up as white.
  118. Ionizer: do you self-define using any other physical characteristics?
  119. Like, do you say you're a brown?
  120. If your eyes are brown
  121. Or, perhaps, "I'm a blue"
  122. → VinceVega has joined
  123. +NalaniEke
  124. In the case you have blue eyes
  125. My prediction is that you do not do that
  126. +Ionizer
  127. where are we going wth this
  128. color of ones skin is predmoniantly something people see
  129. +NalaniEke
  130. Ionizer: to point out that "white" is about a lot more than your "fucking skin color"

  145. Ignoring *!*@192.161.245.*
  146. Ignoring Ionizer!*@*
  147. +NalaniEke
  148. I ended my conversation with you, Ionizer.
  149. Here's why: If you reflect back on your life, even all the way back to when you did or did not have a certain job you feel is associated with your race or not, you'll remember some conversations included people saying "retarded"
  150. Now, set that as the denominator in a fraction. As numerator, set the number of those conversations that were "useful", in your view.
  151. For me, the numerator is pretty close to 0.
