  1. Alright I am writing a thing so you guys will not make the same mistakes I did when I was a young cheeso first starting his empire of dragon capitalism and exploitation. I’m not really sure how much I should be explaining either, but fuck it, you guys get the whole 1.5k words because that’s how I roll.
  2.
  3. From what I remember, first you choose your name and referral (you guys can refer me if you want, my UN is elcheeso there too), then choosing your flight is the next option, the only thing this affects is the eye colour of any dragons you breed in your nests (eye colour chart here) . There’s lore based shit ofc but I think most of you have seen the dragon gods and all that shit. Population is a big thing when it comes to dominance as well, it’s generally harder for larger flights (like arcane and wind) to win dominance. I’m in plague myself, and you can rent other peoples nests (by giving them dragons to breed for you) and get different eyeballed babies if you’re into that shit too.
  4.
  5. Next step is choosing your custom progen. You get to choose between the four starter breeds (aka plentifuls from here), their sex and their primary (body) and secondary (wings) colour. There are rumours of some people being able to choose the tertiary colour as well (terts don’t show up without genes) so please screenshot if you’re able to do that so the rumours can be put to rest. Once that’s done, you get your random progen. Everything about this dragon is random except for its sex, it’s always the opposite sex of your custom and it’s always one of the four starter breeds. Colours will often be butt due to the rando factor.
  6.
  7. You start with 10 dragon slots and 1 nest, 2 slots will be taken by your progens and if you’re yeti you wont be able to fit all the dragons I have stored until you buy more space. Space starts off cheap but becomes progressively more expensive (my costs are over 500k per 5 spaces at 85 slots). Same with nests, though nests cap out at 5 and the last nest is 250k. IIRC you will also be given some random items/apparel when you start, depending on what they are you WONT want to convert these into foods or sell them (I did and my original items started off worthless but became ultra valuable, do not make my mistake).
  8.
  9. After your shit is done, you’ll want to check out your flight's forums because there are often newbie giveaways for newbs. People give away foods and dragons to people via threads and all that good shit, that’s how I got my original set of dragons. Scoop up the good dragons! I’ll be sending you guys some food also, food has to be converted (look in your hoard’s food tab) in order to feed dragons.
  10.
  11. I recommend using either the dragons I give you or the dragons you get via giveaways on your first nest because triple basic drags (like your progens) are generally worthless outside of making them fodder. Dragons of the same breed get 1-4 eggs, different breeds get 1-5. The economy is shit right now, so your first attempt at making money should be via fairgrounds which are basically just dumb minigames like FIND DA CARDS or DO DA PUZZLE. You can get 75k from fairgrounds per day, but it takes so long and is so boring that I wouldn’t blame you if you want to avoid it entirely (it’s worth it to get started though).
  12.
  13. Also a good idea is looking into levelling a dragon team. Use this guide for levelling glass cannons who will in turn reward you by being able to level exalt fodder v quickly. Exalting will eventually become the most reliable way of making money for you guys since its hard to sell dragons at good prices consistently. Its most efficient to level exalt fodder to level 5 in the mire or level 7 in kelp beds, but that’ll require level 25 dragons to pull off easily.
  14.
  15. Your daily thing (if you choose to be a nerd) is gathering items (this is a guide to all gathering drops), incubating nests (the eggs need to be stroked once a day for 5 days to hatch) and the trading post, you can answer 10 questions for tomo for 300t each correct answer and get 1 free item from pinkerton once a day. Swipps trades (list here) change every 2 hours, while crim will offer 5 trades for either 500t each OR double the sell price of an item if its worth more than 250t every hour. Do not trade valuable things with her! Always consult the AH to work out whether it is better to trade an item to Crim or sell it on the AH. I should mention that it’s usually better moneywise to sell swipp trade items on the AH and then just buy the item he would give you from there as well, but that’s up to you guys.
  16.
  17. Another daily (boring) thing is bonding with familiars, they give progressively better chests for every level they bond with you. Takes approx. 3 months to go from a wary familiar to an awakened one, awakened gives you a gold chest with many apparels and monies and familiars. I open up every dragon I own and then ctrl tab through them for easy bonding, you don’t need to click okay or close on the popup thing to get the bonding to register.
  18.
  19. The marketplace (which auto stocks) updates every 5 minutes and resets at random intervals. Again, always check the AH before buying a thing from the MP because things are often cheaper there (especially familiars). Flipping items from the MP to AH is sometimes very good for money, but it can be iffy since you’ve gotta find a market that wont be fucked by dumbass undercutters. Theres no fee for selling items on the AH so theres no real reason to undercut by more than 1t or 1g (they do take a small fee from successful treasure sales though). IF I SEE YOU UNDERCUTTING LIKE DERPS I WILL CUT YOU. I flip pink and purple scarves and certain pirate shirts/pants primarily, let me know if you guys would like one (I can give a discount on MP for the scarves at least). The current average gem:treasure ratio is approx. 1:380. Some things can only be bought from the MP with gems.
  20.
  21. When you become fabulously wealthy capitalists you will be able to buy genes and/or breed changes for your dragons. Some breed change scrolls are retired/cycled out (imperials and wildclaws respectively). Usually though, it's better to buy a fresh dragon and try and breed for the breed/genes/colour you want, since dragons are cheap and genes/breed changes... aren't.... Also I recommend familiarising yourselves with the scrying workshop (the link prob won't work till you're members. You can use this to see what babies any two dragons would make if you smooshed them together (regardless of sex/incest, btw), you can check for incest (a dragon that is within 5 generations of a family tree of another is considered incest and they can't breed), and you can also use the predict morphology tab to preview any breed/gene/colour combos. It's good for planning breeding projects and shit, basically.
  22.
  23. Ok I cant think of anything else off the top of my head, here are some more good resources for things like breeding. The system can be confusing. I wont explain dom or festivals rn because it’s a clusterfuck, let me know if you guys want an overlong explanation for those. OH and crossroads are how you trade dragons. There is no secure way of trading items yet, you gotta rely on other people to be honest. Also LMK if any of you are interested in my current dragon babies, they're all listed here. Scratch that, I offloaded the babies to other noobs.
  24.
  25. http://fr.fintastic.net/ - colour predictor, you put 2 dragons colours in and itll show you the possible colour outcomes of babs
  26.
  27. http://breed.logik.li/ - hatchling probability indicator, FAR more detailed than the first link, you can input genes, breeds and colours and tell it what outcome you want for babs and itll give you a probability of that outcome occurring. Its based on the testing done in this thread, which I recommend reading for getting a feel for the how gene/breed rarity works and what are the likely outcomes for your dragon babbies. Also remember that the rarer breeds have longer breeding cooldowns.
  28.
  29. http://flightrising.wikia.com/wiki/Flight_Rising_Wiki - It’s a wiki. The familiar page is really good for working out where familiars come from and which can only be obtained via special means and theres sometimes good info about apparel, but otherwise, it’s a wiki. Not much else to say about it.
  30.
  31. http://dramarising.tumblr.com/ - The best place to go for people who enjoy pointless drama. Usually involves Tumblr topics such as why gayhomos aren't being represented properly in the game when same-sex dragons aren't able to make biological children with each other, or why the dragon gods are imperialists oppressing the native animal people with their dragon spawn and how it makes you so sick to know that your dragons support imperialism that you can't even play the game anymore, even though you slaughtered them mercilessly before the latest lore came out. Sometimes it's just people who are angry at the admins for some reason. Inanity abounds!
  32.
  33. http://flightrising.com/main.php?board=gde&id=1101576&p=mb - Tomo's trivia answers. Since you are newbs it will be harder for all of you to answer Tomo's questions correctly, this thread/spreadsheet should help you out, but it's worth mentioning that it doesn't have the answers for every question.
