- Post AGDQ speedplans:
- - Gonna try to improve my Kirby Super Star Ultra time this week now that I have a Japanese cart of the game. Won't be a free PB even with the 2 - 2 1/2 minute or so time save over English because my Meta Knightmare Ultra in my derust run on my plane trip home was 4 minutes slower than my PB x_x
- - Stream routing Yoshi's Island DS whenever I finish the game casually (currently on 4-4). This'll probably happen after my trip this weekend or the week after it. Looking at first mostly for RTA viable strats, then mixing it up later with some of those 2 frame egg jumps once I get better at the game. Hopefully I can find a use for zips in the run somewhere too!
- - Hoping to bounce back and forth with Super Mario 64 DS and KSSU for a while. Trying not to focus all on one game at the moment in terms of speedrunning because I didn't like how all of my December was focused on SM64DS when I had to do Squeak Squad as well for AGDQ. We'll see how that turns out.
- AGDQ Thoughts:
- - It feels weird to me how so many people this time around were excited to see me because I never felt this feeling at the previous 2 GDQs I went to. I guess that's what happens when you try to get to know a lot of people and meet them IRL for the 1st (or 2nd or 3rd) time, and that's completely okay :>
- - AGDQ was a lot of fun. I bought 12 games and left with I think 17 total (I'm now the proud owner of the Penguins GBA Trilogy shoutouts to Mamgar).
- - The addition of the Arcade Room was amazing. It fit well with the competitive atmosphere of the event and was always a hype place to be at any time of the day. It also was in the middle of a long hallway, and as such you could only really hear the booming noise of it if you were in that hallway, which is good because hearing it while in the stream room or in your own rooms would be horrible lol. I imagine it'll be hard to get something like that again at SGDQ, but if it isn't there, I hope it's back again for AGDQ 2017.
- - Didn't watch a whole lot of the event because I was hanging out with speedfriends and meeting new people, but the runs I did see were pretty nice. I still need to catch up on a lot of runs I was interested in, in addition to runs that people said were exceptionally good, but my favorite runs I did see was probably Paper Mario All Cards. I've seen a lot of Paper Mario runs and I know a lot about the run and game already, but there was something about seeing it live, in person, and talking with friends about the game and run that made it very special to me that night. Idk. I just remember feeling particularly happy while watching it and it felt damn good.
- - As for my own run, it went better than I expected. My practice runs averaged higher in time than the result of my run (high 48), so getting 40-50 seconds off my PB in the marathon was great! Also got 6 seconds off my PB in Boss Endurance afterwards so that's cool. My gameplay could've been cleaner, but it all went well in the end.
- - Definitely going to SGDQ 2016. Right now I'm for sure planning on submitting Kirby Super Star Ultra 100% (EST: 2:20:00), Super Mario 64 DS 80 Star (EST: 1:35:00), Star Fox Assault Bronze Any% (EST: 50:00), and 007 Agent Under Fire Operative (EST: 45:00). 5th submission is up for grabs atm. If Halodude862 submits Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land Any% and/or 100%, I want to submit that too and offer it as a race. Amhite also wants to submit Metroid Prime Hunters Any% and he wants me to submit that too as a race, which I'm down for as well. If neither submits or I don't feel like it in the end for either, I'll submit Pinobee: Wings of Adventure and hope it can make it into the Silly Games Done Quick block. Either way I'm hoping I get something in the marathon, no matter what it is haha
- Stream Tonight:
- 2 or 3 runs of Kirby Squeak Squad, then 1 run of KSSU 100%. Probably do KSSU 100% for the rest of the week too. Starting around 8-9 hopefully
