  1. <Halifax> [Down in the brig where Amile finds herself trying to appeal to the kind captains sense of mercy is where we last left off. Let us continue this story there and then...]
  2. <Halifax> [Or better yet, the next morning. The decks are clotted with slime and puss from the remains of the grand kraken that attacked last night. Beams and rafters and floorboards alike are cracked or cracking everywhere on the ship. The Coffin looks more like its namesake then usual. Halifax has ordered the newest recruit to clean the deck on her own. Everyone else on the boat is either working on...
  3. <Halifax> ...repairs or cleaning the vomit that was spilled by many a seasick mate inside the ship. Halifax looks over her plans inside her cabin.]
  4. * Halifax looks over some maps with eyes narrowed.
  5. <Ellisa> Ugh... what vile shit this thing spewed on this ship..
  6. * Ellisa almost chokes at the smell.
  7. <Halifax> A single ice berg more and we won't even have the wood to patch the hole the water comes in...
  8. * Danielle busies herself with the repairs.
  9. * Amile hums happily as she swabs the deck, as having spent time getting to know the beast up close and personal, it smells positively FLORAL to her.
  10. <Ellisa> Hmm.. ya think any of this is good enough to cook capt'n?
  11. <Halifax> If ya want to try your hand at some new "cuisine", ya go right ahead Elli'
  12. * Ellisa bursts out in laughter.
  13. <Ellisa> Indeed I will.. as soon as I find the pieces not tainted by gunpowder.
  14. * `Emily flicks a bubbling mixture inside one of the pieces of bizarre glassware she has that make up her 'lab.'
  15. <`Emily> ...Hey, Priss...?
  16. * `Emily calls back without looking up
  17. <Halifax> Ah...What can I do for you, Emily?
  18. * Halifax says pushing her mussed hair out of her face.
  19. <`Emily> ...What kind of wood is the deck made of, again...?
  20. <Halifax> Some kind of mahogany if I remember Dad's rantings correctly.
  21. <Halifax> Held for all these years despite the amount wear and tear it has taken.
  22. * Ellisa gathers some clean parts and throws it in the kitchen to cook for later.
  23. <Halifax> Ah, righteous lord almighty...
  24. * Halifax swears under her breath...
  25. <Halifax> We going to have to make land fall for awhile. The treasure ain't too far off either so we'll be making the rest of the trip on land while the thing is repaired.
  26. * Halifax rubs her temples...
  27. <Halifax> That is if the old girl can MAKE it to land now...
  28. <`Emily> Mahogany? ...Hmm. All right, then.
  29. * `Emily is silent for a few more moments before looking up, blinking.
  30. <`Emily> We made a land of what?
  31. <Halifax> Land fall... It means docking somewhere... and soon. A single storm could sink us right now...
  32. <Halifax> [As if by some comical mischief, the sky starts pouring rain at these words... Luckily it doesn't seem like it will be getting any worse.]
  33. * Amile grins as she watches the rain help with the cleaning of the deck
  34. <`Emily> Oh, landfall. I'm sorry, I was... focused.
  35. * `Emily gestures at the maze of glassware.
  36. * Danielle looks up at the sound of rain.
  37. <Danielle> ....
  38. * Ellisa returns back out only to be pelted by rain...
  39. * `Emily turns back to the series of tubes. It's definitely not something you put things on; it's not a large truck.
  40. * `Emily turns down the burner, detaches the large bottle holding the lime-green bubbling liquid, and puts a cork stopper in its neck.
  41. <`Emily> This should do it...
  42. * Halifax smiles at Emily. At least there are the small success to look forward to.
  43. <Halifax> Do what exactly?
  44. * Danielle knocks on the door.
  45. * `Emily walks over to the captain.
  46. <`Emily> This mixture should, when used to clean the decks, be able to effortlessly remove the kraken's....
  47. <Ellisa> Great.. this should make it immensely easier to clean.
  48. * `Emily looks for a word.
  49. * Ellisa sighs.
  50. <`Emily> its /remnants/.
  51. <`Emily> And more importantly, it should be able to do so without eating away at the wood, or stripping away the finish.
  52. <`Emily> I could have made something that did the first task within a few minutes. Making it do the second as well was what consumed most of my time.
  53. <Halifax> Ah...
  54. <`Emily> I hope that it works satisfactorily...
  55. * Halifax as always is awe stricken at Emily...
  56. <Halifax> I hope I don't make that effort a waste. We'll get this rig to safety by nightfall... No point cleaning up if I can't keep it from visiting the bottom of the sea.
  57. <`Emily> Mmm... that's true.
  58. * Danielle peeks her head in the captain's door.
  59. <Danielle> Captain?
  60. <Halifax> aa-ah... Dani!
  61. * Halifax straightens up unnaturally.
  62. <Danielle> ...?
  63. <Halifax> What can I do for you?
  64. * Danielle flicks her eyes up tothe sky through the deck.
  65. <Danielle> It's raining.
  66. <Halifax> I can hear it in here. Is it making the repairs too much trouble?
  67. * Danielle shakes her head.
  68. <Danielle> There maybe leaks...
  69. <Halifax> There are already leaks... But not enough that the men can't pump out what is coming in. The rain will just make the upper decks a bit... Soggier.
  70. <Halifax> Take care of what you can. We'll be weighing anchor in the shallows sometime tonight.
  71. <Halifax> Tell the others.
  72. <Danielle> ...Call the new girl in?
  73. <Halifax> Hmmmm... Actually, let's see how she's fairing.
  74. * Halifax exits her cabin and walks out onto the deck.
  75. * Ellisa grabs a sobby mob and scoots all the shitty crap overboard.. ugh..
  76. * Amile is rather enjoying herself, the rain quite refreshing considering she hasn't been allowed to wash yet
  77. * `Emily follows the captain out.
  78. * `Emily covers her nose.
  79. <`Emily> Good heavens. I'd forgotten how ...fragrant it was.
  80. * `Emily had had to get some pieces to make the cleaning mixture with, but had scurried back to the captain's cabin as soon as humanly possible.
  81. * `Emily goes over to Ellisa and taps her on the shoulder.
  82. <Halifax> [The deck looks mostly clean... Or at least all the big chunks are gone. The deck still seems to have slime here and there and the rank smell is luckily doused by the down pour to a tolerable level.]
  83. <Ellisa> hmm? What ya need Countess?
  84. * Halifax tugs down at the brim of her hat as the rain water sheets over. Decent job...
  85. * Danielle looks out at the sea. Naviagating in this weather...
  86. * Halifax pats Dani's shoulder.
  87. * Danielle looks upat her.
  88. <Halifax> We'll make it. We always do.
  89. * Danielle nods.
  90. * Halifax laughs softly. Dani' never changes.
  91. * `Emily hands Ellisa the large bottle of green liquid.
  92. <Ellisa> ...uhm. Ok?...
  93. <`Emily> This ought to make the cleaning go a lot faster.
  94. * Ellisa nods.
  95. <Ellisa> Could use any help I can get. Thanks.
  96. <`Emily> ...Ah, but don't use too much of it.
  97. <`Emily> Or rather, you only need to use a little for any given area.
  98. <Ellisa> Alrighty.
  99. * Ellisa tips her head towards Emily and smirks.
  100. * `Emily goes and rejoins Priss.
  101. * Danielle takes off her jacket and washes up a bit with the rain.
  102. <Halifax> [With some hard hard work and a little help from the rain the ship makes it (luckily) to the shallows before the anchor is thrown down. The sun is close to setting and town is only a ways away. It is cold up north and it looks like ice and snow will be setting in tonight.]
  103. * Halifax climbs down the rigging onto the beach, and unceremoniously trips over something falling face first into the sand withing a couple of steps...
  104. * Halifax GOD DAMN MOTHER FUC-
  105. * Halifax kicks up the offending object that caught her leg...
  106. <Halifax> [A brilliant, jeweled sword now lies on the beach. Freshly kicked.]
  107. * Danielle hops down next to her, staring at the jewel.
  108. * Ellisa peers down, just finally finishing cleaning up the last mess..whoa.. something shiny~
  109. <Ellisa> What's this?...
  110. * Amile looks down from the deck, unsure if she's actually allowed to leave the ship
  111. * Halifax picks up the damn thing... It is lucky it looks so valuable otherwise she'd just throw it into the sea... She hands it to Dani'
  112. * Danielle takes it.
  113. <Danielle> ....Lucky?
  114. <Ellisa> Seems so...congrats Dani~
  115. <Halifax> You take care of this for now. Don't let the others bully it out of you either.
  116. * Halifax laughs.
  117. <Halifax> AMILE! COUNTESS!
  118. * Danielle nods and stows it in her coat.
  119. * Amile shrugs and slides down a rope before landing on the ground and trying to regain her legs. Been a while.
  120. * Ellisa hops down and pats her on the head.. good girl.
  121. * `Emily disembarks. She's chosen to wear a shorter skirt, more suited for extended overland travel, and sensible boots.
  122. <Halifax> You look absolutely wonderful this evening, ma' lady.
  123. * Halifax bows, flourishing her hat in Emily's direction.
  124. * `Emily blushes, and smoothes her skirt self-consciously.
  125. * Halifax offers her hand while returning her hat to her head with the other.
  126. <`Emily> Well, thank you very kindly, my dear pirate queen.
  127. * `Emily graciously accepts~
  128. <Halifax> We are heading into to town to look for a proper inn, the rest of the crew will take care of themselves after tending to the ship a bit.
  129. <Ellisa> ...just.. where are we though?
  130. <`Emily> Oh, we are? ...Perhaps I should have worn something nicer.
  131. * Halifax pulls Emily close and whispers...
  132. <Halifax> Anything nicer and I'd never be able to take my eyes from you.
  133. <Danielle> ...
  134. * Danielle shivers as a breeze passes. Looks like that shower wasn't the best idea.
  135. <Ellisa> Hey.. Dani...?
  136. * Ellisa turns to the small girl.
  137. <Danielle> ...?
  138. * Danielle looks up.
  139. * Ellisa throws Dani her cape.
  140. <Ellisa> Here, this'll keep ya till we get to town.
  141. <Danielle> ...
  142. * Danielle wraps it around herself, eyes toward the ground.
  143. <Halifax> [The group makes their way across the land. Firs and pines are plentiful and the air is brisk. The sun is just settling beyond the horizon as the group makes it to the edge of a village.]
  144. * Ellisa sighs.
  145. <Ellisa> How ya feelin' now Dani? ok? we're almost to town.
  146. * Danielle nods.
  147. <`Emily> [=-= add after Halifax's comment: /me blushes brick-red, and falls silent. ]
  148. <Ellisa> hmm...hey Cap'tn.. what d'ya think of that place to stay?
  149. * Ellisa points to an inn, looks kinda shoddy but a bit run down.
  150. <Ellisa> [*er.. homely]
  151. <Halifax> Anything should be fine... I'll be the first to say I don't want to be on my feet any longer.
  152. * Danielle looks tired, now that you mention it.
  153. * `Emily is looking forward to the rest, as well.
  154. * Ellisa grins, but her body is definitely showing it.
  155. * Halifax takes a glance at Emily and sweeps her off of her feat and into Halifax's arms. With renewed vigor, the captain leads the way.
  156. * Danielle stares at Halifax for a while before looking back at the passing buildings.
  157. * Ellisa chuckles before following inside, behind Dani.
  158. * Ellisa looks around.. this place ain't that half bad..
  159. * `Emily squeaks in surprise, but lets herself be carried along.
  160. <Halifax> [The villagers don't seem to be the prying type. Mostly ignoring the odd group of people entering the town. Some mutter things, but nothing seems out of place. The hotel isn't a luxury sweet but it is definitely no hell hole. A humble inn.]
  161. * `Emily looks up at Priss, and begins to wonder some things she's never really wondered before.
  162. * Danielle enters the building.
  163. <InnKeeperGeorge> Well hello there!
  164. * Danielle curtsies as well as he can without a dress.
  165. * InnKeeperGeorge shuffles from out behind the counter.... He is a large, hefty man.
  166. <Danielle> ...A room.
  167. <InnKeeperGeorge> Well well well. Guests in this season? Ah, a room too? Goodness today is my lucky day.
  168. * Danielle nods.
  169. * InnKeeperGeorge motions for you to follow him to the counter.
  170. <InnKeeperGeorge> Come, come. Let's see, let's see... hmmmm.... Annnnd Here we are!
  171. * InnKeeperGeorge procures a few keys...
  172. <InnKeeperGeorge> So how many beds will you be needing?
  173. * Danielle looks back, counting.
  174. * Danielle holds up one finger.
  175. <InnKeeperGeorge> One? That would have to be some bed...
  176. * Danielle raises another finger.
  177. <InnKeeperGeorge> Two?
  178. <Ellisa> hmm.. I think.. two would be fine, more money for us right?
  179. * Ellisa turns to capt'n and winks.
  180. <InnKeeperGeorge> Well, I guess you guys don't mind sharing... Two should be fine. Would you like those in the same room or separated?
  181. <Ellisa> Seperated but adjacent of each other if possible.
  182. * Danielle lances at Ellisa.
  183. <Ellisa> Ah-
  184. <Ellisa> Is that ok with you folks?
  185. <InnKeeperGeorge> Good, good. Well here are the two keys. Return them in the morning and I'll ask for a fair price. No more then a couple silver I assure you.
  186. * Danielle takes a key.
  187. * InnKeeperGeorge hands the two keys to over to the guests... Strange to be getting two different groups of visitors during this season... Well business is business.
  188. * Halifax grabs a key, shifting Emily slightly in her arms to keep hold of her.
  189. <Halifax> [The Innkeeper points out the only stairwell, and the keys are clearly labeled with room numbers. The inn is pleasantly warm.]
  190. * Danielle walks to her room.
  191. <Ellisa> Ah.. Capt'n?
  192. <Halifax> Hmmm...
  193. * Halifax was distracted by Emily's beauty...
  194. * `Emily is distracting like that~
  195. * Ellisa throws an arm around Cap't and whispers, "Heh, good luck tonight..."
  196. * Ellisa lets go and picks up Dani as well and kicks the door open, hopefully not breaking it.
  197. * `Emily guides the key-holding hand to the lock, and turns it while Ellisa and Priss are talking, unlocking the door and opening it.
  198. * `Emily waves good night/goodbye to the other two before she and Priss head inside their room, shutting the door behind them.
