Man writes this book for 40 years and has gotten 17 years of this persons life down. Guy writing this book believes that by writing such a detailed account of a fictional character, it will actually create this character in another universe. He considers this his life achievement, and even goes as far as calling himself a "father"

On the inverse, this 17 year old really exists in another reality. Days that are scarcely described seem to float by in a breeze, where as very important and detailed days seem to last an eternity.

Writerman, as his life draws closer to an end, in his desperation tries to finish off the story by rushing through some 30 years. Eventually he gets a crazy idea to finish the story by writing the character entering a closet to find a portal to writerman's dimension, and in doing this finds that the main character finds his way to writerman's deathbed.

The group of friends seem to take this passively, and eventually turns into a meta-narrative where the characters are just waiting out their inevitable death, set ahead of them by an eager writer.
The group of friends have very 3d personalities, and remain humorous even as they watch their companions die
the story has a kind of Richard from Hotline Miami feel, very confrontational and relentless in its intimidation
