  1. Have you ever played a game so much that you feel like you've run out of replay value?
  2. Some people choose to come up with additional challenges, such as beating a game as fast as possible, scoring as many points as possible, or pushing a multiplayer game to its competitive limit.
  3. Call of Duty has a scoring system, it's multiplayer, it is a multiplayer shoot-out through an fictitious world.
  4. So; how fast can someone beat it?
  5.
  6. My name is Easy Alban, and this is my speedrun of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in 18 seconds and 10 minutes.
  7.
  8. In 2014, I started frequenting the Call of Duty forums, a place where people interested in Call of Duty would gather and discuss shooting.
  9. The single largest game thread on COD Forums belonged to Advanced Warfare.
  10. Discussion mainly revolved around sweating out the game.
  11. In fact, very few speedruns were actually completed back then.
  12. It felt more like we were wanking than anything else.
  13. This was spurred on by a user going by the name of xxCODzooiexxHD, posting videos of some clever no scopes that weren't thought to be possible before.
  14. These shots allowed us to access certain areas in the game sooner than intended.
  15. We were able to do things such as obtain the heavy-snipers early, and get to the equipment screen right after the match started.
  16. A large amount of 360 no scopes, fly hacks, and shenanigans were found in this rich period of discovery, the most significant of which was a way of writing grenades to an ammo slot that represented COD-mans inventory.
  17. This led to obtaining experience and swag early, which is the trigger in the game for the 15th prestige, ultimately leading to the completion of the game without any online level-ups.
  18. In November 2014, through a group effort and a lot of man hours, the match countdown was finally skipped, using a tricky 720 no scope, meaning we could combine this with the ammo manipulation glitch, and beat the game completing zero matches.
  19. The route would grab a grenade as Level 0 COD-man, go immediately to Level 12 COD-man ,then go around the first map, manipulating COD-man's inventory, until we had the guns, at which point we could obtain the sniper and 360 no scope - to finish the game.
  20.
  21. There were a surprising number of route variations involving the method used to begin the ammo manipulation glitch.
  22. The 1v1 fight was a true bottleneck.
  23. We could access the enemies base, but the enemy was unable to be defeated without a rocket launcher and heavy snipers.
  24. Without a way to skip or defeat the enemies, this was about as fast as we could make the route.
  25. Things were settling down.
  26. However, in November 2014, a user named FAZE_Christian_Xx_360S found a way to skip many of the post-match cutscenes.
  27. If performed in Ascend, it not only skipped the cutscene, but warped COD-man into Detroit.
  28. The entire Call of Duty community was astonished, and the COD scientists went to work.
  29. What we found broke the game. Upon the completion of Defender, Instinct, or Comeback under certain circumstances, we were able to warp COD-man to many unusual locations, such as a Bonus Map Atlas Gorge, the title screen, and the end credits.
  30. Amongst all the craziness that was going on, a clever user by the name of xXXR0B_D09Xx was pouring over the game's internal map list, and had a strartling realization. The door to Ascend's bottom deck room on the internal map list was adjacent to part of the Terrace's interior. Nobody had thought of this before, because the elevator door that blocks the way made it not obvious there was another option there. MLGxS0ckf0lderx1337 tested xXXR0B_D09Xx's theory and it worked. For the first time in history, Advanced Warfare could be completed as Level 0 alone. This was faster than the credits warp.
  31. There was an explosion of activity. Many people did many speedruns, trying to optimize this new route, including myself. The speedrun you are watching is my greatest work yet, and is the result of another two days of optimization.
  32. This run was done on the official North American release of the game. I chose this version because of faster no scopes and less connection time.
