Australian News Channel is an Australian privately held subsidiary of News Corp which owns media properties operating in Australia and New Zealand. The company is equally owned by Sky Group, Seven West Media and Nine Entertainment Co., each with a 33.3% stake in the company.

The company owns news broadcasting channel Sky News Australia, its sister channels Sky News Extra, Sky News Business Channel and Sky News Weather Channel as well as New Zealand News Channel (which operates Sky News New Zealand).

Sky News Australia is an Australian 24-hour cable and satellite news channel available on the Foxtel and Optus Television subscription platforms. Sky News is also broadcast in New Zealand and is largely similar to the Australian service, although some local programming is inserted. The service is available on Sky Television and Vodafone.

Sky News Australia launched at 5pm on 19 February 1996, as the first Australian-produced television news channel. The channel aired its 50,000th unique newscast on 23 April 1996 at 11am.

In 2004 Sky News launched Sky News Active giving viewers access to news on demand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Sky News Active offers 8 screens of video content ranging from the latest news headlines to business and finance plus sport, weather and showbiz. Sky News Active is available at no additional charge to viewers subscribed to Foxtel and Optus.

Sky News Australia also delivers content across other digital media platforms, including mobile apps, podcasts, and online.

Sky News Australia features news on the hour, every hour and headlines every 15 minutes changing the way Australians get their television news. Apart from the flagship news on the hour service, Sky News also produces a variety of half hour programs each week, including Agenda, Health News, Sportsline and Eco Report.

Sky News Extra is an Australian 24-hour cable and satellite public affairs news channel owned by Australian News Channel. The channel lanuched on 20 January 2009 as A-PAC, with the inauguration of United States President Barack Obama airing on its first day, using a feed from U.S. cable channel C-SPAN.

In May 2018, A-PAC was rebranded to Sky News Extra. The name reflects on the additional programming it will have and to be in line with the other Sky News channels.

Sky News Extra content features live broadcasts from Australia's Parliament House in Canberra (including sittings of the House of Representatives, the Senate, parliamentary Committee meetings and political press conferences), the parliaments of New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland as well as sittings of the United States Congress, live broadcasts of speeches from the Australian National Press Club and a program which provides coverage of the New Zealand and British parliaments. Material from the United Nations and the European Parliament is also aired.

Australia's first national business channel was officially launched on January 31, 2008 at the Australian Securities Exchange.

Sky News Business Channel is produced from a dedicated business news studio at the Sky News Centre in Sydney. It also uses the resources of the Sky News network of bureaus and reporters across Australia and New Zealand.

Sky News Business Channel delivers 16 hours a day of Australian-made programming, ranging from coverage of the ASX and international markets to consumer finance issues and personal investment.

Sky News Weather Channel is an Australian satellite television channel owned by Australian News Channel. Launched on January 1, 1999, the channel broadcasts weather forecasts and weather-related news and analysis 24 hours a day.

Sky News Weather Channel runs on a 15-minute menu of local, national, regional, dam level and rainfall forecasts, as well as continuous coverage of extreme weather if required. Weather content on the channel is provided by Metra Information Limited and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

On Foxtel digital service, an interactive weather service called "Weather Active" is available. It provides local weather information, such as current conditions, marine and surf reports, dam information, 28 day rain forecast, capital city forecast and 10-day forecasts for the user's postcode. It also provides a state radar, national satellite and national lightning tracker.
