- Pronouncing numbers (when you’re *not* counting how many of something):
- for 3 or 4-digit numbers, we group the last two and the first one or two:
- 110 = one ten
- 2016 = twenty sixteen
- 1803 = eighteen oh-three
- If it ends with 00, we say “hundred”: 1800 = eighteen hundred
- If it ends with 000, we say “thousand”: 2000 = two thousand
- If it’s x00x, we also say “thousand”: 2009 = two thousand nine, 6004 = six thousand four
- ---
- It can be tricky with things like prices. How much is “two twenty-five”?
- $2.25 (e.g. for a coffee - two dollars and twenty-five cents)
- $225.00 (e.g. for a camera - two hundred twenty-five dollars)
- $225,000.00 (e.g. for a house - two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars)
- ---
- (“twenty-two five” is $22,500 [twenty-two thousand five hundred] or $22,500,000 [twenty-two million, five hundred thousand], not $22.50, which is “twenty-two fifty”)
- ---
- Look at your partner. Then close your eyes. Can you describe the things your partner is wearing?

- to - infinitive (I like to read)
- two - number (two hundred)
