  1. ==========
  2.
  3. For sale or trade, 12 of the worst damn shower hooks ever. These things looks pretty nice. Do not be fooled. They are crap. Brushed nickel medallion style.
  4.
  5. A shower hook has a very simple mission - hold a water-stopping-sheet to a horizontal pole, and allow this sheet to slide out of the way. These things fail miserably at their every responsibility.
  6.
  7. The big bulbous medallion is too heavy. This puts the center of gravity of the whole device way the hell in the wrong place. So as you exit the shower, and attempt to pull the curtain out of the way, it scrapes the shower rod, falling off the rod. Because the hook doesn't go around far enough, it then falls out of the curtain to the floor, making a clang with which you will become quite familiar.
  8.
  9. Dieter Rams said that there are ten principals of good design. Let's look at them one by one:
  10.
  11. * Good design is innovative
  12.
  13. Uh, no. It doesn't even perform its most basic function, it is most certainly not innovative.
  14.
  15. * Good design makes a product useful
  16.
  17. Useless. It fails to hold a shower curtain to a rod, a function I would find quite freaking useful, when trying to take a shower.
  18.
  19. * Good design is aesthetic
  20.
  21. You won't be able to judge its aesthetics, because these things will be on the floor, behind the toilet, and under the sink cabinet ledge. Because they won't stay on the damned rod.
  22.
  23. * Good design makes a product understandable
  24.
  25. I don't understand why a product engineer can't make a hook that holds a sheet to a rod.
  26.
  27. * Good design is unobtrusive
  28.
  29. It's obtrusive to your sanity, and your ability to shower.
  30.
  31. * Good design is honest
  32.
  33. Not honest. The package said "shower curtain hooks" which they sure as hell are not.
  34.
  35. * Good design is long-lasting
  36.
  37. Depends a bit on your level of patience. But if you can make it more than 2 weeks with these things, you deserve some kind of award.
  38.
  39. * Good design is thorough down to the last detail
  40.
  41. Thorough? I think not. It's obvious whomever made these things didn't once try putting them on a shower curtain.
  42.
  43. * Good design is environmentally friendly
  44.
  45. If you have 1/2 a brain, you won't buy these things, which means I'll end up throwing them away. Not exactly eco-living.
  46.
  47. * Good design is as little design as possible
  48.
  49. 5 stars! Success! There is very little design involved in this product.
  50.
  51. So, if you want these things, make me an offer.
