  28. Fate/Apocrypha is a series of light novels in a separate timeline, one where the 4th and 5th grail wars never occurred. In this timeline, the Grail has been removed from Fuyuki City after the 3rd war and now resides in Romania, where the new grail war takes place. The war in this novel is between two teams, Red and Black, each consisting of seven Master/Servant combinations.

  30. In Fate/Apocrypha's grail war, the grail itself summons a separate servant under the new "Ruler" class to mediate the battle. The SHIROU (capitalized due to the different spelling of his name) of this timeline is a both a member of the church and a master, sent to observe the grail war. This character also has the surname of Kotomine, though the reason for this is up in the air.
