  1. >Jump 54: Dresden Files
  2. >The Hermit, reversed (Concealment, disguise, and unreasoned caution.)
  3. Hey, I'm pretty sure telling people I'm a jumper means the whole world is brought down on my head. This caution is ENTIRELY reasoned.
  4. >Age: 24
  5. >Location: Chicago
  6. >Identity: Sorcerer (-100)
  7. White Council? No thanks, I'm good.
  8.
  9. >Drawbacks: (+700)
  10. >The Hex (-100)
  11. It's a damn good thing revolvers worked during the Civil War era, but otherwise... yeah, this is going to be a jump where I'm going to find a nice cabin on the edge of town and live like an eccentric. The only way I'm going to get around quickly is teleporting, though. No flying around in power armor this time around.
  12. >Female Gaze (-100)
  13. I can live with having a soft spot for women, as long as it means that I can deal with them once they show their true colors.
  14. >...And It Wasn't My Fault (-100)
  15. I'm a jumper. Collateral damage is second nature. This is what repair spells are for, right? ...what do you mean, it won't work on electric devices more complex than a telegraph during this jump?
  16. >Faerie Debt (-200)
  17. Hooray, I get to get three wishes from my fairy godmother! ...give. You meant give. Damn it.
  18. >Death Curse (-200)
  19. Well, it's better than Mab figuring out I'm an outsider. This, coupled with the Hex, is going to mean bad luck all around. That's okay. It'll make my time here interesting. In the sort of way that people say "may you live in interesting times".
  20.
  21. >Magic 101 (Free, Sorcerer)
  22. Well, if I'm going to be breaking anything more complex than a steam train or a semiautomatic rifle just by being too close, I may as well get the benefit from doing so, eh?
  23. >The Sight (Free, Sorcerer
  24. I already commit literally everything I see to memory. Eidetic memory is not always a blessing. But it makes the Sight less a curse.
  25. >Clued In (Free, Sorcerer)
  26. Fortunately, this comes with the knowledge of (some) things that I need to know as a sorcerer.
  27. >Power to Burn (1450, Sorcerer)
  28. Knowing is half the battle. 25% of the remaining half is having the ability to fight, and to fight harder.
  29. >Refined Spellcasting (1300, Sorcerer)
  30. The other 25% is being able to fight smarter.
  31. >Soul Source (1000, Sorcerer)
  32. The other other 25% is to go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND.
  33. >Job Offer (400)
  34. The OTHER other other 25% is to find someone to hang out with. Speaking of which: "Hey Loki, how's it going? Boy, have I got a deal for you..."
  35. >Stars and Stones (0)
  36. "How would you like to not have to worry about your power being reduced by lack of worshippers? I mean... you won't get stronger without worshippers, but at least you won't get weaker, yeah?"
  37. >Best Ale in Chicago (Free, Sorcerer)
  38. "Now about about we sit back, have a couple of beers, and then I go stir up some shit? There's this floating city that just appeared over Lake Michigan..."
  39.
  40. As far as Job Offer in future jumps... I definitely plan on using it to grant others positions as my Emissaries. For now, well, Iā€™m an agent of chaos. Nothing new about that!
  41.
  42. Speaking of cities that appear over Lake Michigan: yes, Carcosa is now floating over Lake Michigan. The joys of using magic to cloak the city means that no one who doesn't have their own supernatural abilities can detect it, because during Sword and Sorcery I realized what a horrible idea it is to have everyone see it from the start. And I don't even visit it very often, I'm just... a temporary ambassador. It's basically following me around and doing nothing except being neat, but there is a LOT of fast talking that has to be done out of the gate to keep people from magically nuking it.
  43.
  44. Speaking of temporary ambassadors, Loki may be much diminished in power, but there are enough crazies who worship that particular pantheon to give him SOME measure of power, even if it is a shadow of what it once was. Having someone who can break the rules like that? Well, as long as he doesn't stir up too much, it won't be too bad. Considering his behavior, he was probably part of the Winter court to begin with, so it's no surprise that favors are owed there. Hopefully breaking that rule for him will be the first of the three favors, since going that far is too much to expect from a mere servant.
  45.
  46. Honestly... a lot of what I'll be doing is subtle nudges. Saving a couple lives here, making a few werewolves have optional transformations there, and... well. Testing my revolver on Outsiders. Revolvers worked just fine in the Civil War, after all. Even if I have to live in a cabin in the woods otherwise, to avoid breaking things all around me.
  47.
  48. And god help anyone who points any weapon more advanced than a revolver or a lever action rifle at me. The Hex has its upsides. And man, I am DEFINITELY keeping this for later use. Can you imagine using the Hex in any high tech setting? In fact, I'm going to save this for Star Wars, I want to see the look on the face of a sith when their lightsaber fizzles and dies.
