  1. Ronaldo:
  2. I think both strategies the teams put out here were pretty good; out of interest of conciseness and clarity, I'll split my delib up by comparing your offense and defenses.
  3.
  4. Starting with Offense, I think CD's was stronger than ToT's. ToT's offense isn't terrible, but a lot of the trickier plays like the dirt balls and the tunnels, as other judges have said, might not do so well with the level of precision you have on hand for one thing, and two it might be somewhat difficult to execute in the middle of the match. Plus I have a hard time believing you'd cover the ball so much in dirt and make the dirt balls so convincing that it wouldn't be fairly easy to tell the two apart. In general your offense is good but those were two pretty big plays you had that I don't think hold up all too well.
  5.
  6. As for CD, I think you have a pretty solid offense overall. Pelé already covered some issues regarding some technicalities here so I won't get too much into that, but overall I think you do a great job and make effective use of your abilities and skills to construct a great offensive plan. The fabric platforms are pretty interesting ways to expand your mobility and the possibly plays you can do; I am a bit iffy on the execution, and think it could've used a bit more explanation as the other judges have said, but it doesn't breach the confines of your ability in such a way that I'm concerned that it's completely no-sold.
  7.
  8. Overall, I'll reiterate that I think CD wins out here because of a solid variance of techniques that utilizes the mobility potential of both PJ and FJ to great effect, using the fabric platforms to increase movement in THREE WHOLE DIMENSIONS, and having a wealth of techs such as the Red Hot Battle Cannon and the Hyper Bicycle Kick that utilize both 110M and FSD's great command of mobility and field control, that I think turn this portion of the game out in your favor.
  9.
  10. Moving onto Defense, I think that it's a bit of a tossup.
  11.
  12. I think ToT definitely have a strong defense; as many have said, that's one of the strongest points of their strategy. Mars and Colorado both have great defensive potential in general that we see used to great effect with their fast forming briar and earthen defenses. However, I have to say that their defensive portion lacked in that it assumed some specific things that it made defenses for that didn't really come to pass, and that space could've been used more effectively with additional broad defensive plans. That said though, I think ToT's defense was pretty solid all things considered.
  13.
  14. I think CD's defensive plans, on the other hand, focused a bit too much on fishing for fouls when they really could've just dropped that in favor of more utilization of FSD and 110M's excellent mobility and field control. There were still some solid plays here don't get me wrong; some good formations with the NPC's, the Earth Skimming Slices. I just felt more could've been dedicated to your solid plays like that rather than trying to game the system in ways that are kind of iffy.
  15.
  16. As for how this all interacts...
  17.
  18. They say the best offense is a good defense. But for ToT, I really think they could've used a stronger offense. There are some good plays in there but I think playing for confusion and trickery really wasn't a strong point, as I feel the methods used just aren't able to be reliably pulled off in ways that would suitably trick the opponents; that's a big part of your offense, and to me it fell flat. And whereas ToT does have a strong defense I don't think it's strong enough to win the game when you consider CD's strong offense that's packed full of effective techs, as well as CD's comparable, if a bit less effective defense.
  19.
  20. In summation, I'm going to go with a 6/10 for ToT, and an 8/10 for CD. Both sides pulled out some great stuff but in the end I think CD managed to play to their strengths better, and win out the game.
  21.
  22. Ronaldinho:
  23. I don't know any more about football than I did about football, so we'll see how this goes. Jokes aside, I think I'll structure this the same way I did in the other football match.
  24.
  25. WHEN TOT HAS THE BALL
  26. Colorado seems to be the primary striker of the team, passing the ball between himself and the humans, and creating alternate paths through the ground to allow for decoy balls to come out. On defense, Johnny focuses on his forced offsides, and otherwise tries to surround the player with the ball. Fighter Jet focuses on dealing with RitR's briars, and once CD has the ball, he does a special move to get it far into the territory the Disobedients want it.
  27.
  28. WHEN CD HAS THE BALL
  29. Prince Johnny, as the athlete, appears to be the primary striker here, working with Fighter Jet. Using their Stands' extra bodies to add pressure on the ball, CD relentlessly moves forward, often using FSD-affected jerseys as floating platforms. I can't say I fully understand how it's supposed to work, but I definitely agree that it will somewhat manage to interfere with ToT's abilities. On defense, most of ToT's plays don't really seem to account much for the actions taken by CD, focusing on less-used techniques, and the mushroom platforms may even help.
  30.
  31. Ultimately, I think that both strats are pretty solid, and the unorthodox format of the Tower's strategy is not a slight against it (in fact, it made for a better quality of life on my end). However, it is still fairly straightforward and simple in a way that leaves many openings for the Disobedients, especially in the unsuccessful predictions in the Defense section. The Disobedients also had some flaws and some plays I didn't see much value in, but the overall product was pretty solid, and I'm certain they'll score more goals by the end of the game. (Props for taking halftime into account too.) 8/10 for CD and 6/10 for ToT.
  32.
  33. Pelé:
  34. What a lovely game of futbol! My fellow judge went with the offense vs defense format, so I’ll stick with the more customary “each strat in isolation.”
  35.
  36. ToT:
  37.
  38.
  39. A major strength of this strat is how compact it is: a literal bullet point list of techniques for both scenarios, a format that lends itself very well to sports matches. The defense is sturdy, Mars providing a general quickly regrowing briar patch and Colorado providing ad hoc earthen defenses where necessary. However, ToT’s more “conditional” strat ends up harming it, assuming a strategy/tech - Fighter Jet smoke bombs and FSD accelerated shots - that doesn’t come to pass.
  40.
  41. Moreover, while they have strong ideas on defense, their offense is a bit lacking, a few tactics, but not quite the same cohesive strategy. There are plays towards misdirection with the dirtballs and tunnels and allusions to a passing game, but it’s a bit nebulous. With some slightly suspect constructs with D PRE, I feel comfortable giving this strategy a strong 6. Good ideas that needed a bit more polish.
  42. CD:
  43.
  44. I’m gonna get the bad out of the way: there’s a lot of “technically”s for my liking in CDs strat. “Technically” the FSD-touched ball isn’t “absolutely impossible to get at” because you just need constant B POW effort. “Technically” you can still get the ball if you get to us as we’re dribbling on the floating platforms. Attempts to intentionally draw fouls through offsides and flopping range from “there’s no way we could reasonably consider that in this format” and “I doubt you’re particularly good at it given the breadth of the skill”. I’m not taking off points for this, but you often win the match by winning the match, and going for minutiae like this kind of misses the point.
  45.
  46. It’s a shame, because the rest of the strat just goes in.
  47.
  48. CD’s offense plays an immediate pressure game that makes use of the bodies on field and in the air, complemented with more tech than you can shake a stick at. As many have noted, defense isn’t as strong as it could be. While the intercept-and-clear game is a good strategy, especially against ToT’s pass game, the foul farming au lieu de defense is weak, some interference techniques, but markedly less than those showcased on offense. As an aside, expanding the jerseys into tarps could have been explained a little better. (110 only extends in one direction, creating tarps requires extension in two - while I see how it could be done, the formal explanation would have been nice.)
  49.
  50. I’m going to give this a high 7. I considered an 8, but I think the weaker defense dropped this from “covers all bases and no major concerns or areas of improvement” to “good, but had some deficiencies.”
