- V Winners is designed with a unique approach in mind. Multiple win conditions in games is nothing new but most of the time the win conditions are just different ways to beat the opponent senseless or deck them out. This game's V Point mechanic is meant to leave more room for alternative win conditions that can have playstyles be more radical and varied, and better fit the lore of some of the cards. This is done through Victory Points. Players need 10 Victory Points to win, but Victory Points can be won through combat and card effects, with the game focusing on the latter in terms of variety.
- Resource System
- The game does not have a unified resource mechanic, but cards do have costs. Cards, except V Winners, have a Size that is their balancing mechanic. Unique to this game is a pair of letters in front of the number that determines how that Size cost is paid. Some examples include
- HC [Hand Cost]: Pay this cost by discarding cards whose combined size totals this amount.
- FC [Field Cost]: Pay this cost by dumping from the field cards whose combined size totals this amount.
- DC [Deck Cost]: Pay this cost by sending cards from the top of your deck to the Dump equal the amount.
- PC [Power Cost]: Pay this cost by sending cards whose combined power stat results in a number whose first digit equals the amount.
- L(Insert other type here)C [Lingering X Cost]: This card can be played for free, but if you do not pay this cost during the end of your turn, destroy this card.
- Note: You cannot go over the cost unless the number has a + next to it. You also cannot pay for more than you need in that case. If you want to play a Size 6+ card, you are allowed to use 2 Size 3 cards, you can also use 1 Size 4 and 1 size 3. You cannot use 1 Size 4, 1 Size 2, and 1 Size 1 since the 4 and the 2 would be enough to cover the cost, even though there is the plus symbol. Only cards with the Overspend (#) keyword allows you use more than you need, up to the number listed.
- V-Winners do not have sizes, so they have appearance conditions instead. These determine when and from where they can be played.
