  1. Ed Rendell was at Bounty Bowl II. Rendell bet from 1 to 4 drunk Eagles fans $20 that the fan(s) could not throw a snowball onto the field. The number of drunk fans involved in the bet varies with the version of the story. As do other details.
  2.
  3. One detail no story seemed to have was whether the 1st fan to attempt to win Rendell's bet was the 1st fan to throw a snowball at the game.
  4.
  5. Finally I found a story
  6.
  7. https://tny.im/EdRenBall
  8.
  9. where Rendell claims that fans were already throwing snowballs when he offered the bet. Snowballs are not the main focus of the article. Search for 'Rendell' to get to the relevant part of the article.
  10.
  11. Rendell could be lying about whether people were throwing snowballs before the bet because
  12.
  13. 1) He is a politician
  14.
  15. 2) Rendell initially denied offering the
  16. bet altogether. After Bounty Bowl II,
  17. word of the bet got to a reporter at
  18. the Philadelphia Inquirer. Steve Lopez
  19. I think.
  20.
  21. Rendell denied the bet and offered as a
  22. witness the guy Rendell went to the game
  23. with. The witness also denied that there
  24. was a bet.
  25.
  26. The reporter figured the story was made
  27. up. Only to have Rendell call back to
  28. admit that Rendell DID make a bet about
  29. a snowball reaching the field.
  30.
  31. I guess Rendell could not pass up the
  32. publicity.
  33.
  34. I believe Rendell that people were throwing snowballs before the bet. What are the chances that there was snow all over the inside of the Vet, and Rendell was the 1st guy to think 'Hey. Somebody could make a snowball from this snow ... And then somebody could throw that snowball!'?
  35.
  36. There is still the question of whether anyone was throwing snowballs onto the FIELD before Rendell offered his bet. But I extend my question of likelihood. What are the chances that fans were throwing snowballs in the stadium and none of them thought 'I could throw a snowball onto the FIELD'?
  37.
  38. My guess is that after fans were already throwing snowballs on the field, Rendell bet up to 4 fans that the fan(s) could not throw a snowball onto the field. But Rendell is very unlikely to have started the barrage of snowballs.
  39.
  40. Rendell is also unlikely to have catapulted any of the barrage of snowballs. But Rendell is likely to have appreciated the barrage of snowballs.
