- now i'll teach you.. How to install Debian in Virtualbox.
- For those ho don't know what Virtualbox is, it's a free program that can run och both windows and linux for creating a Virtual machine.
- That is an computer inside of your physical computer :D
- You can find it at > www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
- And of course the distro can be found at > https://www.debian.org/distrib/
- Install virtualbox and save debian.iso.
- 1. Open up virtualbox
- 2. Click on the New icon in the VirtualBox menu bar.
- (This will start the New Virtual Machine Wizard. The first screen is just a welcome screen so click Continue to proceed.)
- 3. Enter the name you wish the machine to have.
- 4. In the Operating System field, click on “Linux” and in the Version field, enter “Debian 64/32 bit(based on you .iso file” The click Continue.
- 5. Use the default setting for the amount of base memory. (you can change it later if you want.)
- 6. Now will create a new virtual hard disk to use as our VM filesystem. So, use the default setting on this (the second option)
- 7. It will ask you what hard disc file type you want, just choose VDI
- 8. Choose dynamically allocated
- 9. Enter how much space you want, you should not enter lower number than 8gb
- 10. Now you have created the VM, now we need to install Debian on it
- 11. Right click on VM and select settings.
- 12. Click on storage and click on the CD-rom icon located in the middle and now click on the new appeared CD-rom at the right.
- and click on "Choose Virtual Optical Disc File.."
- 13. Now locate you Debian.iso file and enter.
- 14. Now youre good to go, double click on the vm machine you just created at the start screen and it will start.
- 15. Follow the installation, it will be just like a normal OS install.
