- Just because you're an LLC now doesn't mean you have to sound like incompetent, douchebag robots. You can talk like a human and still represent a company.
- Contractions are not the devil. Talking to someone as an individual is not unprofessional.
- Really, I think a lot of the perception around GDQ becoming more corporate COMES DIRECTLY FROM this shift in how things are communicated and dealt with. Everything's now an edict. Statements are now robotic. Many things are not explained from a common sense perspective but with a view of how that will reflect "THE BRAND" (TM) or the company.
- It doesn't have to be this way, it really doesn't.
- ---
- * it weakens our brand, which includes a registered trademark, that we are legally required to protect
- * by allowing others to upload our content, they can misrepresent our event
- * If you're not going to upload the video to your own channel only, we need specifics on what you're planning on doing with it and what channel it will be on. I refer to my previous list of reasons for this rule, but basically we also have to protect GDQ trademark and the charity.
- * We're still discussing things with staff on the final terms, but it will probably end up that runners will be fully responsible for their runs that they authorize on other channels (and thus take the fall if said channels become malicious, etc).
- Ivan's note: take the fall, wtf? are you going to excommunicate them? Malicious how? Criticizing GDQ?
- * While we do not have exclusive rights, we do have the right to use the likeness and actions of runners and all attendees.
- * Seeing as our production is the only version of the run available, this means that we must grant runners explicit permission to use their runs on their channels, which we do.
- * Judgment for whether something is fair use is up to a court to decide
- * If any individuals who we have taken action with would like to engage in further discussion
- Ivan's note: this doesn't even sound like english, wtf...
- it's so easy to not use corporate-speak here, too: "If anyone who got in trouble wants to discuss it..."
- * You are correct, it is not consistent with our policy
- Ivan's note: Same here: "You're right, this went against our policies"
- * The rest of GDQ staff was informed about scheduling delays around the same time as we notified the public
- * we will notify the public ahead of time
- * If so, that is a blatant violation of our policy for tournaments and I will have a word with the people running the Smash 4 tourney.
