catherine expects it. she also knows she doesn't have to save natsumi for vs kingdra, and intends for circe to handle that.

draco: "she'll figure i'll send out something to counter victor, so something that won't be hurt by ground, so not typhlosion and not victor. she won't use natsumi for my ace. she may or may not switch out herself. drampa has the most coverage and she has the most mons available rn."
cath: "something that can counter victor" -> "something that can quake, because I know he has no ground types" -> "let's bring the levitator out"

so basically, cath sends circe out expecting drud, gets drampa instead, she's still not too unhappy with her choice even if it tires circe out and takes her (almost) out of the ace
so by then cath has to start considering alternatives to circe re: kingdra

draco: "ampharos is p dented, gengar is out right now. two of my pokemon are down, she won't use natsumi for the ace. she either sends out the espeon or lapras. either is weak to fighting, so druddigon."
cath: "it only gets tougher as it goes on, we need to save the big guns as much as possible"" .but stella can't deal with drud on her own, so she probably has to tag out midway, just enough to chip things down, maybe exert some stamina bc stella is for speed"
and maybe circe can come out to finish it out as a last hurrah and maybe officially spent

natsumi vs altaria
draco: is no fool, he knows gengars can learn tbolt
cath: "it's either the gyarados or the altaria. i want victor for gyara, natsumi for altaria. if i send out victor against altaria i'll manage but mobility is hard, so it's easier to just crack out natsumi and swap out victor if need be"
natsumi just barely wins this war but she gets hit by suuuuper shitty luck, poor Red. sing, so much sing.
