I enjoy almost every genre and type of game. I grew up enjoying a lot of games with the SNES, N64, and Gamecube, but then I stopped playing new games and became a competitive gamer as a teenager. Now that those years are behind me, I've come back to enjoying single-player games again. For a few years I've enjoyed going through my backlog and playing games I missed - it's really fun to expand my horizons and have have totally new experiences, especially the act of learning something new with every game and becoming comfortable and familiar with new mechanics for the first time.

The very few genres I don't play are horror, survival, zombie, and some sports. I particularly like RPGs (especially JRPGs and tactical RPGs).

If you want to get a sense of what I play, my favorite non-competitive games of all time are Super Mario RPG, Mass Effect 1, Dragon Quest 8, Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask, Civilization 3, Dark Souls 1, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Fire Emblem 7, Neopets, Final Fantasy 12, Star Fox Assault, Pokemon Gold, Super Mario Kart, Titan Quest, World of Warcraft, Borderlands 1, Dark Cloud, Just Cause 2, Recettear, Saints Row 3, Tales of Symphonia, The World Ends With You, and Kirby Air Ride.

On the competitive side, I got into speedrunning in 2005 and worked on Tales of Symphonia runs (a bad choice in hindsight). In 2007 I started playing in SSB Melee tournaments, ended up hosting 20 events of my own (including many of the first Brawl+ events, the precursor to PM), and reached rank #4 in North Carolina (and #2 in SSB Brawl) before retiring in 2011 from physical challenges. I played in clan {TGR} in Starseige Tribes around 2006. I started into MOBAs with the Heroes of Newerth beta in 2009, and despite how much I still love HoN, I moved on to Dota 2 and have been playing it ever since.
