The only lead she had was that the Lord’s maid couldn’t find them in the house after she went out to get groceries, and they didn’t come back for an entire day. Now, the idea was that she was going to have to see if this matched the building somewhat... and see about where an entrance would be into the "Final". The walls and floor also have a connection to something or multiple things in the same general direction. Other than minor changes to the books in the bookcase, nothing else seemed to change much.

She points to the walls and follows the threads. There was likely some combination of things she had to do to unlock the rug... maybe. That seemed to make sense. Especially if the Lord was paranoid. And it was probable he got assassinated, so paranoia might be justified.||

The blueprints told her that there was a room here and it was under the rug. The rug had something magical going on to keep it stuck in place, something that she didn't understand. "That is a good idea, dear. We can try talking to him. I suspect there is a passcode to get down there."||

Sarah Sherman was a practitioner child of one of the Binder families in the Sheriff's department and one of Keira's closest friends. They'd met at a small party the practitioner segment of the Sheriff's department had after a difficult Other had been dealt with and their friendship developed from there. She was a good kid, and the Shermans weren't bad people either.||
6:58 PM T<Thalia|Kara> She feels like she had to be missing something, but when there was a mysterious room and Will owned a construction company. That wasn't a coincidence. "Let's just track him down now, I'm not sure if I have many more leads here." And Wardens deal with connections too, right? It makes sense that he would be involved.||

Yeah we need to track this guy down. We have some blueprints made by him. Yeah my mom is gonna be with us. Ok, see you in a bit." Keira hangs up the phone. "She says she'll be here soon."
7:08 PM After waiting for about 10 minutes, Sarah arrives with some general practitioner supplies. "Hey Keira!" she says as she hugs her friend. "Hi Kara," she says as she gives Kara a small wave. "You guys needed help tracking someone down?"
7:09 PM "Yeah, it's some guy called William Si-something," Keira answers. "Here are the blueprints I told you about," she says as she hands them over.
7:10 PM "Nice," Sarah says. "I'll try to get him to come over here. If that doesn't work, I'll be able to find him."
7:12 PM Sarah takes a deep breath and raises her arms in the air. "William Siphiwe, I compel you to arrive at the late Lord's home. If you do not respond, I ask the spirits to reveal your location to me in order to track you down myself."||

Will pulled out a simple metallic key, and tapped it to the rug, before pulling it back to reveal a trapdoor set into the floor. Inserting the key into the door's lock, he turned it before pulling the door up. "Did you want to take a look right now Officer?"

Rather than a simple bookcase, there’s an entire wall stocked with literature. Walking up to the leftmost bookshelf, Will reached behind it and touched the wall, just barely managing to fit his hand into the two-inch gap between wall and shelf. There was a low *thunk,* and another bookshelf swung forward, revealing a door, which Will promptly unlocked with his key before opening.

7:23 PM T<•Thepicheese|GM> Thepicheese The door leads to a staircase taking them even lower. The next room is a larger library, not only in the number of books but in the size of the room as well. This time, the door doesn’t seem to have as many protections, though it does look sturdier than what you’d usually see in a home.||
7:25 PM T<Thalia|Puma> Kara pulls out her flashlight, just in case there was a room without any fucking lights for some reason. She had no idea what to expect here. "Seven floors, huh?" What the fuck kind of person has a mostly secret house? What was he doing down here that he needed to hide a majority of his stuff from everyone? "Well, let's keep going..."||
7:30 PM M<Mari|Will> "Shortsightedness." This time, a different bookshelf swings open, revealing a heavier looking door, which Will once again unlocks before pulling it open for Kara to enter. "So while I'm okay doing this, I'd be much more comfortable if you got a warrant or something before coming back. Granting full access to any of my clients homes isn't something I do lightly, if at all."

7:33 PM T<•Thepicheese|GM> Thepicheese Once again, the door leads to a stair case and they go down, arriving in another library, with smaller books allowing even more information to be packed in. Maybe the Lord studied more than their above ground bookshelf suggested.
7:35 PM Unlike the previous two floors, this library lacked its obvious exit, instead leading into a dark hallway.||
7:36 PM T<Thalia|Puma> "There's no need for a warrant. This is part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance and probable murder of the Lord. That gets more complicated with magic involved and some records on all this may have to vanish..." She hated doing it, but she wasn't going to break the innocence of a bunch of random people just to get the cleanest justice. As long as the spirits were satisfied, she was. 7:41 PM Will walked up to the wall to their right and quickly snapped his arm up in a precise way, hitting what seemed to be empty air. There was a sharp *click*, and once again, a seemingly random bookshelf swung open to reveal a door, which Will unlocked and opened.

10:58 AM Before Will can answer Kara's question, a carpet of darkness comes out from the door, covering the floor of the library and slowly heading up the stairs that brought the practitioners down. Once it reaches the purple curtain, the darkness moves up the wall around it, as though it's attempting to find some sort of opening.
11:03 AM In the midst of the darkness, Kara can make out a female ghost with half its face and left arm gone. It sounds like she's muttering something but they're too far away to hear her clearly.||

She will need to call out to it, speak with it, find out what the hell happened here. Kara starts slowly backing out of the room while drawing her pistol. "Ghost, come with me."||

1:53 PM They headed up, Will locking every door behind them as they went. Once they reached the ground floor, Will set out the rest of his Fetishes over the trapdoor, and started writing Signs. Once he had reached a point where roughly half the surface area of the trapdoor was sign, about fifteen minutes later, he filled the seams of the trapdoor with clay. With that done, he pulled out his book, and diverted a small amount of power from the
1:53 PM Foundation Ward to this one, and dumped every protective quality he had into it. With that amount of preparation, as inadequate as it felt, he cast Guardian. He focused on simply making a barrier, a wall, a rampart that protected, that brooked no entry. It wouldn't have as much fuel or energy as the Security Ward, but it would have to do less, not worrying about permitted entry. Hopefully the trade off between function and efficiency

This is... huge." And it would narrow down her list of suspects. Someone likely summoned it, if they could find a connection, it might be her best lead.||

This almost seems like an all hands on deck situation. It would be if the thing got out. "I'll drive you home, Sarah." That would make starting the conversation easier.||

3:27 PM Will shrugs. "Alright with me. Here's my number, if you need me. That way you can get my attention without say, magically compelling me to show up somewhere." He pulls a card out of his pocket and hands it to her. It reads  "Stabilstahl Construction Ltd." and has a phone number on it.

"I'm pretty sure there is a demon in the hidden levels under the deceased Lord's house..." She decides to just get straight into the meat of the issue.||

He called in an expert to bind it, but they were killed. Something unexpected happened, at least her ghost was repeating that. Which leads me to believe that the demon may have gotten help..."||

4:03 PM "I don't know enough about the Followers to make an accurate guess, and the worst things the Hastings deal with are Bogeymen. I can't think of anyone else who might manage to get a demon. Maybe the Lord just pissed off the wrong group and they wanted to get rid of him."||
4:07 PM T<Thalia|Kara> "Possibly, but if there is any evidence, it's behind the demon." She sighs. "And even if it wasn't important, we might have to deal with it, anyway. I am not sure how long the Wards will hold it." The Hastings might be able to do something. Could they toss the demon into the Abyss or... bind it and seal it down a mine or something? "We basically need to find a place to dump the thing."||
4:11 PM T<•Thepicheese|GM> Thepicheese "I'm willing to help, but I don't know much about demons, let alone how to deal with one. We can see if any diabolists want to help us, but from what you said about the ghost, that didn't work out well for the Lord."||
4:15 PM T<Thalia|Kara> "I think she was helping to try and get rid of some karmic debt. Might be able to pool some resources in the city." Luring it into a trap might be best. "But sooner or later... it needs to be dealt with. As I said, I expect an outside hand helping the demon... whoever wanted the Lord dead. The Diabolist's ghost said it should be simple..." Kara raises an eyebrow at him about one part. "Do you know any diabolists?"||

4:44 PM T<Thalia|Kara> Kara is kind of nervous about saying this. This wasn't a thing you were supposed to do. One of the main warnings Practitioners always got were against dealing with demons, but the demon wasn't giving much choice here. "We're looking for something specific." She knows she's stalling for a moment, just because she doesn't want to say this. "We... we need a book on how to take care of a demon... or some connections to help with that."||

5:16 PM T<•Thepicheese|GM> Thepicheese At the command, both Kara and Adam fall backward in a sitting position. Adam scrambles back and tells Kara, "Try to hold him off!" before he heads into the room they were trying to avoid earlier.||
5:22 PM T<Thalia|Kara> Well, she didn't have any magic to help here, but Kara still had her gun...was this going to turn into one of those bad cop movies where she was going to have to chase him out the shop and so on? She could at least draw the gun as she gets up while he tries to run. "Freeze!" This was technically part of the investigation, after all. It was probably a trap back there. She would need to keep an eye out while chasing him down.||
5:30 PM T<•Thepicheese|GM> Thepicheese It seemed like the shop owner had no intention of following Kara's instructions, as he continued chanting as he rounded the corner of the hall.
5:31 PM "Dammit!" Kara hears from the room. Adam comes out and says, "I couldn't find anything I could use in there."||
5:34 PM T<Thalia|Kara> Actually, might be hard to justify the gun here. She holsters it as she gives chase to pull out the taser. He had already ignored a lawful order from a peace officer, so she could justify this. Especially with the magical assault. The second she gets a line of sight on him, she'd have to shoot him with the prongs.||

7:28 PM Once Kara reaches the room the shop owner ran into, he’s already taken a sword from a nearby counter and is holding it towards her as he backs away further. Now that she’s able to get a clearer look at the man, Kara sees that the man is absolutely terrified of her.||
7:30 PM T<Thalia|Alice> And now she would be justified in using lethal force. She keeps the taser pointed at him, ready to fire those prongs at him. "I am Detective Kara of the Sheriff's department. Put the weapon down."||

It's in his house and getting in my way." It had killed the Lord and Diabolist. She needed a plan. "So put the sword down."||

9:30 PM T<Thalia|Kara> All she can do is raise an eyebrow. "Thanks, then." With that, she just turns and walks out. She had a basic plan. The angel might need to do some heavy lifting. Grab the blueprints from Will, plan it out floor by floor. She could take care of that later. It would likely either be in the first or in the one where they left it.||

9:44 PM As she drives to Will’s office with Adam, Kara starts looking back at what she learned from her encounter with the lesser demon. Will’s Wards certainly had an effect on it, and it seemed to spread its influence throughout an area before approaching in a more concrete form.
