- DKCR isn’t real, it never happened. It’s all a part of Donkey Kong’s fantasy, a dream world. It’s been too long since K. Rool was defeated for the last time, and DK was without a purpose for so long. He has nothing to do, nothing but sit on his ass and eat bananas all day. It drove him mad after years of relentless boredom. So he cracked under the weight of depression and fully slipped into a fantasy, ala Yume Nikki. At first DKCR seems like a normal adventure, and in fact through out the whole thing it seems fairly normal, minus the factory’s mind-boggling mass, but DK hasn’t been in a factory for so long he’s over estimated how large they are. But the finale of it all is the Golden Temple. The latter part of it, a world filled with giant, floating fruit, is purely a fantasy, totally detached from reality, a fail-safe to remind himself he’s dreaming. The only way to get there, though, it to play though the game very thoroughly, as if it requires DK to study this fantasy long and hard, hard enough to see though the stitches and realize, it isn’t real.
