  1. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] began trolling nobodysProphet [NP] at 16:18 --
  2. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] heads downstairs to fetch something to drink from the nutritionblock, handstump shoved into her jacket pocket. --
  3. -- nobodysProphet [NP] is quietly sitting in the nutritionblock, reading a book on troll psychology --
  4. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] pauses when she steps into the nutritionblock, and smiles to Yunato. --
  5. AA: <\ Hello! />
  6. -- nobodysProphet [NP] looks up from his book --
  7. NP: >[Ah, hello Paloma.]
  8. NP: >[Are you hungry?]
  9. AA: <\ I, I was just going to get some juice... would you like some? />
  10. NP: >[Ah, no thank you, I'm not thirsty.]
  11. -- nobodysProphet [NP] seems to go back to his book --
  12. NP: >[So, how are you feeling?]
  13. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles to him again. It's a little blander than her smiles normally are, still, but it's at least not so /hollow/. She goes to the cupboard to get a glass, and sets it on the bench before going to fetch the bottle of juice. --
  14. AA: <\ I, I'm okay, I guess... />
  15. AA: <\ Thank, thank you for asking. />
  16. NP: >[You're okay you guess?]
  17. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] pours out her juice, being careful with it. She only has one hand, after all. Once she's done, she returns the jug to the fridge. --
  18. AA: <\ Well, yes! />
  19. NP: >[Hmm.]
  20. NP: >[Well, I'm glad to hear that.]
  21. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] takes her glass and goes to sit at the table with Yunato. She looks like she has something on her mind. --
  22. AA: <\ Say, Yunato... />
  23. NP: >[Yes?]
  24. AA: <\ Do... do you know about the Black Watcher? />
  25. -- nobodysProphet [NP] immediately stops and sets the book on the table --
  26. NP: >[Black Watcher?]
  27. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] nods, staring down at her glass. --
  28. NP: >[I wasn't aware there was more than the just the one White Watcher.]
  29. AA: <\ There, there's two of them... at least. />
  30. NP: >[I see.]
  31. NP: >[When did you see this Black Watcher?]
  32. AA: <\ It was after, after I tried to visit Cucali. />
  33. NP: >[And before the incident with Ranigi?]
  34. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] nods. --
  35. NP: >[It talked to you?]
  36. AA: <\ Yeah... it... />
  37. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] hesitates. --
  38. AA: <\ ... it did. />
  39. NP: >[I see.]
  40. NP: >[What did it say?]
  41. AA: <\ It, it said... />
  42. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] bites at her lip. Evidently this situation is uncomfortable to her. --
  43. NP: >[...]
  44. NP: >[I understand.]
  45. AA: <\ ... it told me... a new way to look at things. />
  46. NP: >[You don't have to go into detail.]
  47. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] nods, gulping down her guilt. --
  48. AA: <\ No, it, it's okay... if, if it will help us fight them... />
  49. NP: >[I admit, knowing more about them is essential.]
  50. NP: >[But I don't want you to have to recall painful memories if it isn't necessary.]
  51. AA: <\ No, I... I can't shield things just because of my own inability. />
  52. NP: >[If you're sure.]
  53. AA: <\ It... told me about how I'd been tearing everyone apart. Pulling them into my cycle of revenge. It... I know I shouldn't listen to it, but... it made sense, Yunato. It made a terrifying amount of sense. />
  54. AA: <\ ... it said there was one way to end it. And gave me a sword. />
  55. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] looks away. --
  56. AA: <\ ... but I couldn't. />
  57. NP: >[I for one am glad you didn't.]
  58. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] bites at her lip, looking distant. --
  59. AA: <\ ... yeah. />
  60. NP: >[...Do you disagree?]
  61. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] shakes her head. --
  62. AA: <\ I don't, but... back then, that night... in the rain, I... />
  63. AA: <\ ... I thought that maybe it was the best option. I just couldn't do it... />
  64. NP: >[I don't think any less of you for thinking that, Paloma.]
  65. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles, sadly. --
  66. AA: <\ I, I'm not trying to invoke pity. I'm trying to get this thing's danger across. />
  67. AA: <\ It... it has a way with words. A dangerous way. />
  68. NP: >[I see.]
  69. AA: <\ ... I'm still not sure it's wrong, even, even though everyone's said as much. />
  70. NP: >[So we have a reckless destroyer and a subtle manipulator.]
  71. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] nods. --
  72. NP: >[The Brains and the Brawn of... whatever scheme they're trying to pull.]
  73. AA: <\ What... whatever it is, we're involved. />
  74. NP: >[Yes.]
  75. AA: <\ ... and I don't intend to let them win. />
  76. NP: >[I'm glad to hear that.]
  77. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles a little. --
  78. AA: <\ You don't either, do you? />
  79. NP: >[No, I plan to stop them as well.]
  80. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] nods. --
  81. AA: <\ Let's, let's work together when the time comes. I don't know what I could do, but... I'm training my hardest. />
  82. -- nobodysProphet [NP] nods --
  83. NP: >[I'd be honored to work alongside you, Paloma.]
  84. AA: <\ I'd be honoured to work with you, too... />
  85. NP: >[That's good to hear.]
  86. NP: >[I imagine in order to beat them, we would need all the help we can get.]
  87. AA: <\ At, at least we'll have a lot of backup... />
  88. NP: >[True.]
  89. NP: >[For now, until we have a plan, we need to keep an eye out for them.]
  90. AA: <\ Y, yeah. />
  91. AA: <\ The Drones can't stop them, so... />
  92. NP: >[And not try and fight them until we actually stand a chance against them.]
  93. NP: >[Yes, that's a very good point and something I have to take into account.]
  94. NP: >[I think it's best we assume that the Black Watcher is just as physically powerful as the White Watcher.]
  95. AA: <\ That's probably right... />
  96. AA: <\ But, what if the White Watcher is just as smart as the Black Watcher? />
  97. -- nobodysProphet [NP] tents his hands in front of him, resting his elbows on the table --
  98. NP: >[We can't afford to underestimate either of them.]
  99. NP: >[Still, I'm going to give this matter my full attention.]
  100. NP: >[You focus on getting better and training once you get your new hand.]
  101. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] nods, her expression serious. --
  102. AA: <\ Okay. I, I'm glad we've got you thinking about this. />
  103. -- nobodysProphet [NP] puts his hands down and smiles --
  104. NP: >[That means a lot to hear, thank you.]
  105. NP: >[To be honest, I'm glad I've got you and your determination.]
  106. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles. --
  107. AA: <\ I, I'm not sure what it could do, but... I'm glad to lend it to the cause. />
  108. NP: >[Nevertheless, I appreciate having you on-board for this.]
  109. AA: <\ I just hope I can help. />
  110. NP: >[I have every confidence that you can, Paloma.]
  111. -- absoluteAltitude's [AA'S] smile grows a twinge wider. --
  112. AA: <\ Thanks, Yunato. />
  113. NP: >[Don't mention it.]
  114. AA: <\ Oh, has your stay here been fine? Do you need anything? />
  115. -- absoluteAltitude's [AA'S] HOSTESS SKILLS engage themselves! --
  116. NP: >[Oh no, my stay has been perfectly hospitable.]
  117. NP: >[Thank you for asking, though.]
  118. AA: <\ All right... but, but if there's anything you need, please don't hesitate to ask! />
  119. NP: >[All right.]
  120. NP: >[Thank you very much, Paloma.]
  121. AA: <\ You're quite welcome! />
  122. AA: <\ Honestly, it, it's me who should be thanking you. />
  123. AA: <\ You went out of your way to come to my aid again... />
  124. NP: >[It was my pleasure.]
  125. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles. --
  126. AA: <\ Shall, shall I leave you to your book? />
  127. NP: >[I quite enjoyed speaking with you, but I did wish to finish this book today, so I would appreciate it, yes.]
  128. NP: >[Enjoy your juice, Paloma.]
  129. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles and nods, picking herself up. She tucks the chair back in against the table, and picks up her glass. --
  130. AA: <\ Enjoy your reading, Yunato! I, I'll be in the dwellingblock if you need me. />
  131. NP: >[All right, Paloma.]
  132. -- nobodysProphet [NP] picks his book back up and opens it --
  133. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] heads out of the 'block, taking her juice with her. --
  134. NP: >[Oh, one more thing!]
  135. NP: >[For what it's worth?]
  136. NP: >[And I know you've heard it from the others often enough as it is;]
  137. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] pauses, looking back at Yunato. --
  138. NP: >[I believe the Black Watcher was wrong about you.]
  139. NP: >[Even if you yourself don't think so, I believe in you.]
  140. AA: <\ I... />
  141. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] smiles waveringly, touched by Yunato's faith. --
  142. AA: <\ ... thank you. />
  143. -- nobodysProphet [NP] smiles back and nods, then returns to his book. --
  144. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] turns and heads out to the respiteblock. Now, is Yunato right... or... --
  145. -- absoluteAltitude [AA] gave up trolling nobodysProphet [NP] at 17:37 --
