  1. I've purchased 2 penny rolls from an eBay auction. These apparently are from an old collection that was inherited by the seller.
  2.
  3. The reason I purchased these was because of the valuable coins on the end - they each have a 1924-D, which is a $40 coin. I have no idea what else is on the inside, but judging by the end coins this could get interesting.
  4.
  5. I'm going to be adding up the value of each coin I get and comparing it to how much I paid, which was $104. Hopefully I can break even or gain a bit!
  6.
  7. For those who are new - there are two things to look at on a wheat penny - the year, and the mintmark. The year just tells you the year it was minted, but the mintmark tells you where it was minted - D = Denver, S = San Francisco, no mintmark = Philadelphia. My goal here will be to look through the coins and see if any particularly valuable ones are inside. Coins from the 1950s and 1940s typically aren't too exciting, but the 1930s and before have certain date/mintmark combinations worth a lot of money. The 1914-D, for instance, is worth at least $150 even in bad shape, but can sell for $1,000 or more depending on its condition.
