  1. Doing Things for Your Waifu, Maud – Part 4
  2.
  3. >The day has gone by quite slowly.
  4. >You decided it’d be best to stay at home and relax.
  5. >Not how you expected to spend your Saturday.
  6.
  7. >A few ponies did come by and say hello, as they usually do.
  8. >While you were friendly and courteous, their presence frustrated you.
  9. >Out of all the ponies coming, the only one that you wanted to see didn’t show up.
  10.
  11. >C’est la vie.
  12.
  13. >Night falls.
  14. >Your energy depleted, you lay in bed reading a book Twilight lent you on beginner magic spells.
  15. >… though you aren’t a magical being, it is still quite interesting.
  16. >You turn the pages gently, absorbing all you can.
  17. >Your eyes slowly begin to shut, and you read less and less every second….
  18. >The cute drawings of fillies casting spells begin to blur….
  19. >You flip to a random page…
  20. >Symbols… arcane drawings….
  21. >You feel light-headed.
  22. >You shut your eyes, just for a second….
  23. >Only a moment…
  24. >And…
  25. >…
  26.
  27. ~
  28.
  29. >”Maud. I’ve got to tell you something.”
  30.
  31. “What is it, Flint?”
  32.
  33. >”I haven’t been… I haven’t been entirely honest to you.”
  34. “…”
  35. >”Eh… I’m sorry, babe. You just… you just don’t do everything I need you to.”
  36. “…”
  37. “What do you mean?”
  38. >”I mean you don’t satisfy me like I’d like you to.”
  39. “…”
  40. “I do a lot for you. I cook for you, I clean up after you, I-“
  41. >”You and I don’t have sex.”
  42. “…”
  43. >”Every night that I’ve gone out this week, I’ve been… I’ve been seeing someone else.”
  44. “…”
  45. >”I came home late every night… because I was with-“
  46. “Flint.”
  47. >”DON’T interrupt me, Maud.”
  48. “Flint, you… you…”
  49. >”I’m trying to tell you this stuff because I want us to work out.”
  50. “…”
  51. >”I want you to be able to make me happy.”
  52. “…”
  53. >”Don’t you want to make me happy?”
  54. “…”
  55. >”Answer me, Maud.”
  56. “…”
  57. >”Don’t just sit there! Look at me and answer me!”
  58.
  59. >Flint gets up and towers over you.
  60. >You simply stare at the ground.
  61.
  62. “Why would you do this to me?“
  63. >”To you!? I didn’t do ANYTHING to you! I did it all for ME.”
  64. “…”
  65. >”You don’t give me the kind of pleasure I want, Maud.”
  66. “I… I can not-“
  67. “What the fuck do you mean ‘you can not’?”
  68. “…”
  69. >”Well?!?”
  70. “I-“
  71. >”ANSWER ME!”
  72. “…”
  73.
  74. >He kicks his chair across the room, causing it to hit a wall and shatter.
  75. >You flinch, pushing your own chair back.
  76.
  77. “I would like to leave now.”
  78. >”Leave? Excuse me? LEAVE!?”
  79. “…”
  80. >”You aren’t LEAVING anywhere!”
  81. “…”
  82.
  83. >You slowly get up from your chair, keeping your head down.
  84. >Flint grabs you by your mane and pulls you to him.
  85. >”You aren’t going anywhere! You are MINE. You will do as I SAY!”
  86. “…”
  87. >Now… I’ll ask this again.”
  88. “…”
  89.
  90. >”Are you going to make me happy or not?”
  91.
  92. “…”
  93. >”…”
  94. “…”
  95. >”…”
  96.
  97. “No.”
  98.
  99. >You are hit across your face with a mighty force.
  100. >”You dumb BITCH!”
  101. >Flint yells in anger and hits you once more.
  102.
  103. >You don’t yell in pain.
  104. >You dare not move.
  105. >You just shut your eyes and hold back the tears.
  106. >He beats you a few more times.
  107. >You feel the pain overtake your body.
  108. >You just want it to end.
  109.
  110. >Flint throws you on the ground, breathing heavily.
  111. >You don’t move.
  112.
  113. >”You’re going to make me happy.”
  114. “…”
  115. >”Whether you like it or not.”
  116.
  117. >You don’t know what to say.
  118. >You don’t know what to think or do.
  119.
  120. >But you love Flint.
  121. >He didn’t mean to do this….
  122. >He is just… stressed.
  123. >That has to be it.
  124. >He promised he would always take care of and protect you.
  125. >He did what he had to… to keep you safe.
  126.
  127. >You love him….
  128. >It will all work out….
  129.
  130. >…
  131.
  132. ~
  133.
  134. >You open your eyes and sit up quickly.
  135. >Your heart feels as if it would beat out of your chest.
  136. >You’re sweating profusely.
  137. >That, and your stomach hurts.
  138. >Really badly.
  139.
  140. >You run into your bathroom, and puke into the toilet.
  141.
  142. >After you release some bad demons, you flush the toilet.
  143. >You turn the shower on, and climb in.
  144. “F-fuck….”
  145. >The hot water soothing your body.
  146.
  147. >What the hell was that?
  148. >Was that a dream?
  149. >It couldn’t be.
  150. >It felt too… real.
  151.
  152. >Your body is shaking.
  153. >You just want to forget all of those bad thoughts.
  154. >You wash and rinse off your body as best you can, forgetting the evil thoughts that flow through your mind.
  155. >Your heart continues to pound like mad.
  156. >No matter what you do, you can’t seem to calm yourself down.
  157. >After what seems like ages, you exit your shower.
  158.
  159. >Hot and pruned, you dry yourself off.
  160. >You body was still a shaky mess.
  161. >You stand over your sink, feeling sickness return.
  162. “Fuck, man. Fuck!”
  163. >You look into the mirror.
  164. >You wipe the condensation off and look at your reflection.
  165. >The color in your face is gone.
  166. >Your eyes are incredibly bloodshot.
  167.
  168. >You shake your head.
  169. >You must be imagining things.
  170. >You stumble back into your bedroom and throw on some clothes.
  171. >Your head begins to pound, and your vision blurs.
  172. >You fall to the ground.
  173. >The book you read earlier lays open next to your head.
  174. >Though it looks different.
  175.
  176. >You can’t really tell.
  177. >The book appears blackened.
  178. >As if it had been lit on fire.
  179. >You reach for it.
  180. >The lightheadedness returns.
  181. >You run out of energy.
  182. >You close your eyes….
  183.
  184. >…
  185.
  186. >You black out.
  187.
  188. ~
  189.
  190. >”Is he alright, Twilight?”
  191.
  192. >”I… I don’t know. There was some powerfully dark magic in that book....”
  193.
  194. >”…”
  195. >”I’m not sure how he even got a hold of it….”
  196. >”…”
  197. >”…”
  198.
  199. >”Is what you are saying the truth?”
  200. >”About?”
  201. >”About Anonymous seeing my past?”
  202. >”Yes, Maud. The dark magic in this book links the minds of two whom are close, if only for a moment, before destroying one of them.”
  203. >”…”
  204. >”It’s amazing that he AND you are still with us.”
  205. >”…”
  206. >”I don’t know what he saw, but whatever it was….”
  207. >”…”
  208. >”It was bad enough to put him in this state.”
  209.
  210. >”…”
  211. >”Maud?”
  212.
  213. >”I know we are not the closest friends, Twilight. But please. Do whatever you can to save him.”
  214. >”I… I’ll try my best. I promise.”
  215. >”…”
  216. >”…”
  217. >”Thank you.”
  218.
  219. >Maud leans over you and kisses your cheek gently.
  220. >She whispers in your ear:
  221. >”I am so sorry, Anonymous.”
  222. >She sighs and heads for the exit.
  223.
  224. >”Maud! You just….”
  225. >”…”
  226. >”…”
  227. >”I need to leave now.”
  228. >”Maud, wait! Don’t leave!”
  229.
  230. >The door shuts.
  231. >All is quiet.
  232. >Twilight sighs and begins to draw a healing circle around you.
  233.
  234. >”She cares so much about you, Anon.”
  235. >”*Sigh*”
  236.
  237. >”But… why did she leave?”
  238.
  239. ~
  240.
  241. >You are Maud.
  242.
  243. >It is the middle of the night.
  244.
  245. >You would like to be by Anonymous.
  246.
  247. >It is for the best that you leave him alone.
  248.
  249. >You continue to walk towards Sugarcube Corner.
  250.
  251. >You decided that you were going to leave in the morning.
  252.
  253. >It was for the best.
  254.
  255. >You were to move to Vanhoover.
  256.
  257. >And begin working at the Institute up there, like you originally planned.
  258.
  259. >You were going to move on from this painful life.
  260.
  261. >And start fresh.
  262.
  263. >But it does not feel that easy.
  264.
  265. >You feel alone.
  266.
  267. >Why do you want Anonymous to be around you right now?
  268.
  269. >You stop walking for a bit.
  270.
  271. >You sigh.
  272.
  273. >You cannot be here and have Anonymous be hurt anymore.
  274.
  275. >You just need to leave.
  276.
  277. ~
  278.
  279. >You are Anonymous, and you are healthy once more.
  280.
  281. >Rather, you are healing.
  282. >”And getting better every minute! I’m so glad this healing spell worked on you!”
  283. >Twilight squees and bounces around you.
  284. >You smile at her.
  285.
  286. “W-w-w-… wh-where….”
  287.
  288. >You cough loudly.
  289. >Speaking hurts your throat.
  290. >Twilight stops bouncing around and soothes you.
  291. >”Take it easy, pal. You need to rest.”
  292. >You weakly nod and shut your eyes.
  293. >You aren’t even sure what quite happened.
  294. >”Let me bring you some water to drink, okay?”
  295. >You give her another smile as she trots away.
  296.
  297. >You try and move your fingers.
  298. >So far so good.
  299. >Now your hands.
  300. >Yup, yup.
  301. >Arms?
  302. >Close, but painful.
  303. >Eventually, you get them to move.
  304. >Twilight enters with a glass of cold water.
  305. >”Here, drink this.”
  306. >Using her magic, she moves the glass over to you, carefully pouring it into your mouth.
  307. >You drink quite a bit of it.
  308.
  309. >”There we go…. How do you feel now?”
  310. >You cough loudly and sit up.
  311. “Wow, I feel way better!”
  312. >You stretch your arms and your body.
  313. >Twilight trots happily to your side.
  314. >”Yes, this is a nice little potion I learned how to make when I had those CRAZY days of intensive studying. Works every time.”
  315. >You nod and crack your fingers.
  316. “No joke! That stuff is great.”
  317.
  318. >You slowly move to the edge of the bed.
  319. “What… what exactly happened?”
  320. >Twilight frowns and levitates the remains of what looks like a charred book.
  321. >”How did you get a hold of this?”
  322. >You look at the book.
  323. >It doesn’t look familiar.
  324. “I… I don’t know. I’ve never seen that before.”
  325. >Twilight moves it closer to you.
  326. >”Look at it closely, Anon! Are you sure?”
  327. >You squint and examine the book.
  328. >You sigh and shake your head.
  329. “I don’t remember reading it.”
  330. >”Are you POSITIVE?”
  331.
  332. >You inspect the book once more.
  333. >Suddenly, a slew of thoughts return to your mind.
  334. >Last night, reading, passing out, the dream…
  335. >It all comes back to you!
  336. >You feel yourself begin to sweat again.
  337. “That… that was the book you lent me! The one on beginner magic use.”
  338. >Twilight frowns and takes the book back.
  339. >”Are… are you sure?”
  340. >You nod solemnly.
  341. >”Wow… alright, Anon. If you’re positive….
  342. >”It appears that this book was hexed with dark magic.”
  343. “That’s… odd.”
  344. >”It is. For the time being, I think it will be better for you not to read these kinds of books.”
  345. >You nod.
  346. >”If not for you, but for the ones that are close to you as well.”
  347. >You stare blankly at her.
  348.
  349. “What… exactly does that mean?”
  350.
  351. >Twilight shakes her head.
  352. >”Well-“
  353. >A loud knock on your door interrupts Twilight.
  354. >You door slams open, with Pinkie running inside.
  355. >”Helllooooooooo?”
  356. >You wave to Pinkie, with a big smile on your face.
  357. >You expect Maud to be with her, but you find yourself disappointed when she isn’t.
  358. >”Hello, Pinkie.”
  359. “Hey, Pinks…. What’s up?”
  360.
  361. >”Deliverrryyy!!!”
  362. >Pinkie pulls out a small piece of paper and hands it to you.
  363. >”It’s for you, Anon!”
  364. “Oh, really? Say, where is Maud? Is she doing, okay?”
  365. >Pinkie laughs nervously.
  366. >”Well, that’s all I wanted! Twilight could you walk me out?”
  367. >She nervously bounces.
  368. >Twilight rolls her eyes and nods.
  369.
  370. >”Anon, take it easy, okay? Let me know if anything weird happens, please?”
  371. “S-sure…. See you guys.”
  372. >Pinkie and Twilight leave your home.
  373. >And once again, you are left alone.
  374. >Alone, except for this note.
  375. >You carefully open it.
  376. >Very square handwriting meets your eyes:
  377.
  378. Anonymous.
  379.
  380. I left for Vanhoover earlier this morning. I did not want to disturb you.
  381.
  382. I shall keep in touch with you and Pinkie throughout my time here. I hope everything is all right with you. I now realize that you would never hurt me. I thank you for putting up with me during my time in Ponyville. I hope that you never abandon me as a close friend.
  383.
  384. Take care of yourself.
  385.
  386. Maud Pie.
  387.
  388. >You turn the letter over.
  389. >A bit more is written on the bottom:
  390.
  391. I am truly sorry. I hope that you will forgive me, Anonymous.
  392.
  393. >You close the letter and throw it on your end table.
  394. >You feel like crying, but you understand where Maud is coming from.
  395. >This is what is best for the two of you.
  396. >You are happy that you will be able to keep in contact with Maud.
  397. >That is better than nothing.
  398. >You lie back in your bed and sigh.
  399.
  400. >You shut your eyes and breathe easy.
  401. >Maybe a nice change of scenery would be good for you….
  402.
  403. ~
  404.
  405. >You are Maud.
  406.
  407. >It has been seven months since you left Ponyville.
  408.
  409. >Your life is back under your control, and everything is wonderful.
  410.
  411. >Your job is going great.
  412.
  413. >You talk to Anon all the time.
  414.
  415. >You are a happy.
  416.
  417. >Happier than you’ve been in a long time.
  418.
  419. >You sit on your couch, writing your next letter to Anonymous.
  420.
  421. >You take your time writing this one.
  422.
  423. >It is very important to you.
  424.
  425. >It is the last one Anon will get before he comes to visit you.
  426.
  427. >You feel elated knowing that he is coming.
  428.
  429. >These months apart have brought the two of you closer.
  430.
  431. >And it is quite something.
  432.
  433. >As you write, you hear a knock on your door.
  434.
  435. >You do not get visitors often.
  436.
  437. >You gently place your pencil down and head to the door.
  438.
  439. “Coming.”
  440.
  441. >You trot over to your door, wondering who it could be.
  442.
  443. “Who is it?
  444.
  445. >No answer.
  446.
  447. >You slowly unlock your door, and pull it open.
  448.
  449. >The door is pushed open with a mighty force.
  450.
  451. >”Hey there, Maud….”
  452.
  453. >You step backwards slowly.
  454.
  455. >Your eyes fixated on your unwelcome guest.
  456.
  457. “…Fl-“
  458.
  459. >”Long time, no see, huh?”
  460.
  461. >Your guest laughs as he enters and shuts the door behind him.
  462.
  463. >You shake your head, moving backwards still.
  464.
  465. >And all you can think about is Anonymous.
  466.
  467. >You want him at your side.
  468.
  469. >You feel your life returns to darkness.
  470.
  471. >”Did you miss me, Maud?”
  472.
  473. ~
