Kana: [smile] Did you fly kites at home a lot, Papa?
Benny: Yeah. Or the Chevois did.
Benny: We picked up a lot of their traditions, living so close.
Benny: [sad] They used to have a big festival once a year.
Kana: [sad] …Used to?
Benny: We had to shut it down last year.
Benny: There were rumours. People said it was a front for rebellion.
Kana: [surprised] Was it?
Benny: Don’t know. Maybe.
Benny: We put in a curfew after that.
Kana: What’s a curfew?
Benny: A bedtime for adults.
Kana: …why’s that bad? Were they not sleeping enough?
Benny: [frown] No. It was to stop them socialising.
Benny: Only Chevois had to follow it. Not Nohrians.
Kana: [sad] Papa… you don’t sound happy.
Benny: [injured] Things got bad there.
Kana: [determined] Don’t worry! Avatar and my aunts and uncles are gonna fix everything and bring peace to Nohr.
Kana: [smile] Then we can all be happy!
Benny: [eyes closed, frown] …Yeah.

Benny: Maybe you’ll be the one lifting me.
Kana: [surprised] That would be great…

Kana: Are Nohr really the good guys?

Benny: It’s not as simple as good guys and bad guys.
Kana: [surprised] Huh?
Benny: Avatar’s a good person. His siblings too.
Benny: [injured] But the King’s done a lot of evil.
Benny: So some people might say Nohr are bad.
Kana: [worried] So… which is it?
Benny: Neither. Or both.
Benny: Like I said, it’s not that simple.
Benny: Sometimes people do bad things just to survive.
Kana: Like stealing if you’re hungry?
Benny: Yep. But sometimes they do them because it gets them what they want, or because hurting people makes them happy.
Kana: [sad] Did you ever do bad things, Papa?
Benny: [injured] Nothing that bad. But… if it were to keep you and Avatar safe, I’d do almost anything.
Kana: [upset] E-even hurt someone who didn’t deserve it?!
Benny: [eyes closed] Yeah. That’s what it means to be a soldier.
Benny: I had Chevois friends, growing up. Joining the army meant I might fight them.
Benny: But there was no other work. If I hadn’t joined, I would’ve starved.
Kana: [sad] Did you ever have to fight your friends?
Benny: [frown] I don’t know. I hope not.
Benny: But… I couldn’t tell you for sure.
Kana: [sad] …
Benny: [eyes closed] Sorry, Kana.
Kana: No, it’s okay, Papa. It’s scary, but… thank you for telling me.
Kana: [determined] I want to keep fighting with you and Papa. I know that now.
Kana: Even if other people might think we’re bad guys, I believe in us.
Benny: [smile] Me too. And soon we’ll have peace to show for it.
Kana: [smile, closed eyes] We sure will! And then I’ll carry you all around!
