HE TASing

Q: How are you TASing HE games?

A: I'm using a program called "AutoMouser", what it does is it lets me assign specific mouse clicks and esc key inputs. For example, I can assign it to click to region, and set how much time there is between each input, mostly it'll be one tenth of a second between each click and esc key press, though this can vary depending on the situation.

Q: Can you TAS every HE game?

A: Not really, in theory yes, but the way the program works, only HE games where you click in the same spots every time you play can be TASed all the way through. Pre-made saves help a lot, but some factors are random even with a save. (Example, you can't fully TAS Pajama Sam 1 cause the Brain Tickler makes you click on different spots every time you play no matter what.) So only a few games can have a perfect TAS (perfect meaning, a single script, without the need for video splicing which could open TASing up to more games.) The program is also not limited to ScummVM, it in theory works on the original engine and the YAGA games. (Pep's Birthday Surprise and Pajama Sam 4.)

Q: What games can't be TASed?

Putt-Putt Joins the Parade - No, Baby Beep can be in many different spots, and choosing just one for the TAS to click would take a long time to finish.

Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon - Untested.

Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise - No (The letters are random, even with a save, a TAS would be extremely difficult to finish.)

Freddi Fish 1 - Untested.

Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo - In theory no because of the toolbox, but there does exist a TAS regardless.

Pajama Sam 1 - No, the brain tickler demands you click in different spots every time you play, also the books are random, but isn't as big an issue.

Spy Fox 1 - No, the part where you have to scale the wall and avoid the randomly falling water would be near impossible for a TAS to get through consistently, the only other option is the Go Fish game which is out of the question.

Pajama Sam 2 - Not with the current Any% route as you have to enter a randomly generated phone number, and the odds of getting the same one twice is next to none, a TAS of an "impossible seed" route would skip the telephone and could be an option.

Spy Fox 2 - No, the gadget vender defaults to a random gadget every time, the default photo and name options are random, outside of those, in theory it can probably be TASed.

Spy Fox 3 - The gadget vending machine defaults to a random item like in Spy Fox 2, and the compact code to select is also random, outside of those two things, it can be TASed.
