Barbie - The people that really hate him made this name for him because of how he liked dressing more femininely and cutely and liked looking pretty, hence they decided to call him 'Barbie' because of how plastic and girly they thought he was.

personality:
Youngjin is an extremely soft and kindhearted boy that loves anything cute/pretty and will do anything if it means that someone else would be happy.
He is scared of almost everything and can cry over the smallest of things on the believe that bad things happen because of him, irritating many people.
He hates disappointing others and is hence also very studious and always tries his best to pick things up quickly so as to be able to fit in and adjust to various situations easily.
Youngjin is very emotional and always takes the words and opinions of others to heart, believing that he is the root of all problems and should be changing himself constantly to please everyone else around him, breaking down every time someone shows distaste towards him.
He is extremely forgiving and also trusts others way too easily, never doubting anyone despite the many occasions whereby he had been used by the people he had placed his trust in.
Youngjin also gets jealous easily, especially towards girls because of how easily they are able to get the men that he likes so easily. However, he never shows his jealousy to others but will be upset about it.
Youngjin is very easily manipulated by others because of how easily influenced he is by others and their opinions, never trying to confirm something that someone with "authority", which can be anyone, tells him, believing them almost instantly.
Hence, Youngjin is also very innocent and square-headed, never really understanding anything sexual and turning beet red when he finally understands a sexual reference someone else uses.
Despite being textbook smart, Youngjin is terrible with people and can never see through someone's hidden agenda no matter how obvious it is or if it has already been pointed out to him multiple times.
Because of how much of himself Youngjin has to change for others, he is very prone to self harm over things like being beaten by his parents for being "weird" or being bullied in school for being different, mostly scratching himself up badly as he's always too afraid to use a real blade to cut himself.

background:
Youngjin was born to a loving and religious, Christian family consisting of his parents and a younger sister. His parents had always provided him with everything he needed and spared no effort trying to give him the best education that he could get, wanting him to turn out successful and be a good example for his sister that was always way too absorbed in manga and anime to give a damn about her results.
Hence, Youngjin had never questioned his parents or anyone older than him, being easily influenced by them because of how he had been brought up to think that anything an elder said was right would be 100% correct.
One afternoon, at age 14, Youngjin and his sister had both returned from school while their parents were still out working. Having finished his homework, Youngjin noticed his sister reading and got curious about what his sister had busied herself with all this time, deciding to ask about it but promised himself that he would not get as obsessed as she did so as to ensure that his parents would always remain proud of him.
After asking her what she was reading, his sister started piling her favourite reads onto him and soon, Youngjin realised that his sister was a fujoushi, someone that liked anything boy x boy, and after reading a couple of her books, Youngjin got hooked.
He particularly liked the young, cute, male characters in the stories that didn't want to be a girl, but had cute styles nonetheless. He found himself relating with these characters the most and decided that he wanted to dress and look like them. He wanted to be dominated. And that's where he found out about his homosexuality.
He started deciding on the type of clothes he wanted to wear, wearing both feminine and masculine clothes and started realising what the strong thumping in his heart meant when he meets a kind and muscular guy. This change was observed by many of his schoolmates, causing him to be bullied by homophobes and people who thought that he was weird, very often leading him to turn to self harm in attempt to cancel out the emotional pain he felt.
Knowing that he was not "normal", he decided to consult his sister, whom supported him and even tried helping to match him with a few guys.
However, Youngjin had not noticed that his parents were already aware of his huge change in appearance and were already worried about his sexuality, deciding to keep silent first, until Youngjin had met the man of his dreams, Park Hyungseok, who was the new guy in their neighbourhood that was in the same class and went to the same church as Youngjin, was extremely kind, understanding and friendly, causing Youngjin to become drawn towards him and the two becoming close friends.
After realising his feeling for Hyungseok, Youngjin decided that he could no longer keep his homosexuality from his family, spilling everything to his parents, causing them to decide on send him to the Program Against Homosexuality, hoping that he would be "cured" there and would forget the boy that he had fell in love with by placing distance between them.

Even though he supports homosexuality and loves Youngjin's unique style of dressing, he doesn't know that Youngjin is gay and it is still unknown if he feels the same way towards Youngjin

Youngjin's pastor at church may not fully support homosexuality, but he preaches on God's grace and after Youngjin had confessed to him about his homosexuality, unsure of what to do with himself, he tried to give Youngjin 100% of his support and is trying to get his parents to understand Youngjin too
7. Youngjin's Grandmother used to tell him that he should always stick to his own beliefs and fight for them. However, after she died, Youngjin had slowly lost the fighting spirit in him and had begun believing in his mother's saying instead
8. Youngjin keeps a flower pressed onto a small piece of paper that his Grandmother had given him when he was younger in his wallet and treasures it more than anything. However, he now sees it as a reminder and mourning of her even though she had given it to him to give him strength

✿ PART 003; “RUSSIAN ROULETTE” ✿
how do they act around the others?
Youngjin is initially extremely shy and quiet around others but easily opens up to them.
After someone manages to make him open up to them, Youngjin turns into an extremely smiley creampuff that is always trying to seek their approval, apologising for things that may not even be his fault.
Youngjin is very lighthearted and excitable around others even though he isn't the hyper type, always going with what the other party wants to do, unable to say no to anyone even if he doesn't really want to say yes, only being able to mutter out the consequences to the other party and if they do not listen to him, he would go along with them.
Youngjin is also always trying to ensure that any tense situation is quickly resolved before any violence breaks out, keeping a neutral and good relationship with as many people as he can so that he can be the mediator if a fight were to break out.
Youngjin never really shows his true emotions or fears to others, fearful of burdening them. However, if he feels emotionally close to someone (few people manage to become that close to him though anyone can gain his trust), he may share his pain with the other party if pushed to.

can they handle pain?
Youngjin can handle physical pain very well because of the many times he's been beaten up by bullies and the physical pain he puts on himself. However, he is terrible at handling emotional pain and will always sought to hurting himself physically to try to manage it even though he knows that it isn't the right way to.

how do they react to the PAH?
Youngjin was extremely happy and eager to go to the PAH as he had been told over and over again about how weird his sexuality was and was eager to find the "cure" to it as soon as possible.
However, Youngjin was also very scared about going to the PAH as he was unsure of what methods they would use to cure him and was reluctant to forget the strong feelings he had towards Hyungseok.
After finally arriving at the PAH, Youngjin was extremely nervous about making friends with others there and wasn't sure how to interact with them.
When Youngjin managed to make friends with the other patients, Youngjin started realising that he was not the only one going through the same pain and started realising that he was not the one at fault for being gay and wanted to become emotionally strong like them too, fighting for his own cause instead of cowering in fear and believing what everyone told him.

how do they react to the staff of PAH?
Was scared of them initially but knew that they were there to try to help him so never resisted anything they tried to get him to do.
After getting to know them a little, Youngjin thought that they were nice people and tried his best at the therapy and tried to make good relationships with them, trusting in them and hoping that he would be made well faster.
After getting to know the other patients however, Youngjin finally starts to find himself and decides that the staff at the PAH weren't trying to help him but we're trying to forcefully change him into someone they preferred. He starts resisting them and grows skeptical towards them, deciding that he wanted to be himself, not someone others wanted him to be.

any psychic or physical diseases?
Mild depression. He is usually depressed because of how he is treated both in school and at home because of his sexuality, harming himself because of that. However, he isn't totally out of touch with the world and is still able to feel happiness when around people that understand him and make him happy.

any ideas for interactions between the characters?
1. They meet each other for the first time and the staff at PAH starts an ice breaker to try to get them to know each other but after the staff realises that this interaction were starting to implant even stronger beliefs in homosexuality in them, quickly stops the session. Later, the characters meet to continue the ice breaker as they are all curious about each other
2. The characters meet almost every night at someone's room to talk about themselves, the pain they go through and their true feelings
3. The characters meet again and the idea of leaving the PAH suddenly pops up and they start planning ways to escape/sneak out to enjoy themselves outside of the centre at night.
4. The characters start to sneak out of the PAH quite often and try to help each other solve their problems while they are outside, including helping Youngjin with Hyungseok

love interest + back up love interest:
Park Hyungseok (it's really ok if it's not possible but I thought that it would be interesting if he got together with him:')) + Calla + Sunflower (my back up if you do not like my initial idea for his love interest XDD)

how do they act around their love interest? Youngjin acts the same as he usually does around his love interest just a little shyer around him. Youngjin is also closer to his love interest, trusting him more with his heart and allowing himself to rest in him as well as share his fears and emotions with him. He is also quite clingy with his love interest, afraid of losing him but always remembering to give him the space he needs too.

how would they react if their love interest get hurt by someone?
Youngjin would be broken, extremely worried for his love interest, trying his best to help his love interest before blaming himself for not stopping anything from happening before his love interest was hurt. He would also get very upset at whoever hurt his love interest, shouting at that person but would never be able to bring himself to blame the other party, only stopping at begging him/her to apologise and asking why they did it, screaming the different ways they could have handled the situation instead of hurting his love interest, but ultimately will still blame himself for not being there to protect him.

ideas for interactions with love interest?
If Youngjin's love interest is Hyungseok:
1. During one of the days where the characters all sneak out of the PAH, they help Youngjin to find out about how Hyungseok feels about Youngjin and find out that Hyungseok feels the same way as him, later pushing Youngjin to confess to him but Youngjin ends up getting confessed to by Hyungseok instead
2. After the two finally get together, Hyungseok starts helping with the characters' nightly escape and spends time with Youngjin as well as tries to help the other characters too as a thanks for helping him and Youngjin get together
3. After Youngjin is released from PAH/After Youngjin escapes from PAH with the other characters, Youngjin brings Hyungseok to see his pastor and younger sister, the two people that support him for who he truly is and asks them for their help in getting his parents to allow them to get together under their blessing, later bringing Hyungseok to his parents
4. The two go on cute dates to the cinema/theme park etcetc
5. The two of them hanging out with each other with lots of skinship
If Youngjin's love interest is one of the other slots:
1. The two meeting each other for the very first time and are really awkward, unsure of how to act
2. The two witness a fight between the other characters and rush to try to stop the fight, feeling a bond between them connect
3. The two realise how similar they are to each other and find comfort in each other hence sticking together even though they're with the other characters
4. They both start opening up to each other and find comfort in each other as they help support each other emotionally
5. They finally realise their feelings for each other but are afraid of getting rejected, hence straying further away from the other party in hopes of the other party coming to ask him out instead, causing one of the other characters to get fed up at them and pushes them together to sort things out and eventually, become a couple

why do you want to be accepted:
I feel really strongly about anything that has to do with homosexuality because I feel that if you truly love someone, gender shouldn't matter and no one should be able to tell you that you are "sick" or "weird" if you happen to like someone of the same gender as you because that's just how love works.
I'm a devout Christian and even though my church and family doesn't 100% support the LGBT community, they believe in the grace of God and that if they are "sinners", so are we so we have no right to judge them either.
I'm really happy that I've finally managed to find an af trying to show this message and I find it really interesting and meaningful too:')) that's why I hope to be accepted so that I can see my character grow in this story:')) however, even if I don't get chosen, I'd still support this af as I think that it is extremely meaningful and I'm also very interested in seeing how this story unfolds X))
