If I see a soccer game, and (as occasionally happens) I find it erotically stimulating, I know that that's just my gay brain at work. It'd be silly to think of it as some kind of deliberate homoerotic exercise either for the players or the spectators. And since we all know the idea gayness leaking into things that aren't gay really riles up hetero guys, the quote Steve pulled really bothered me.

But on reading the article, I think the meaning is somewhat different in context. The guy who wrote it seems to be straight (his qualification for writing this piece is that spent a year with the New York Jets and wrote a book about it, not something you'd associate with male homosexuals). I suppose what he's getting at is that these sports have the potential

But Steve's overall point is right, and probably wouldn't be mentioned
