灰色に染まる空を眺め　寂しげにため息つく
私の体にまとった羽根は　飛び立つことできない
Gazing at the ashen-colored sky, I let out a lonely sigh;
there is no way I could soar up high with the wings attached to my body.

上空の風強く　この羽根では吹き飛ばされるの
地面に叩きつけられてしまうこと　恐れていたのさ
The winds of the sky above blow strongly; with such wings, surely I would simply be blown away.
I fear for the moment when I fall and crash into the ground.

身にまとう羽根を抱きすくめ眠る
いつの日か羽ばたく夢見て
舞い上がるときは来るのだろうかと思い悩み沈む夜
Grasping tightly the wings attached to me as I sleep,
I dream that I will one day take flight.
As the night falls, I lay in anguish; doubting if I will ever soar in the sky.

あの風に負けない強い翼がほしいと願っている
空高く行きたいから　遠く飛び立っていきたい
今は飛べない鳥だけど　あの灰の雲を抜けて先へ
きっと輝く世界が　待っていると信じている
"I wish for strong, firm wings that will not yield to the wind"; so I pray.
I want to soar high up in the sky; I wish that I could fly far, far away.
Though I am but a flightless bird now, if I can pierce through those ashen clouds,
I believe that a dazzling, radiant world awaits me.

鋼鉄でできた強い翼手にし　空を見上げて
今度こそはと覚悟決め　灰色の空へ飛び立った
Having obtained strong wings of steel, I look up towards the sky;
"I can do it now"; having steeled my resolve, I fly towards the ashen sky.

容赦なく襲いくる　風は荒れ狂う渦となって
背中の羽根につけられた　メッキさえはがしてしまった
Without mercy the wind rampages, forming a vortex;
causing even the steel plates of my wings to fall apart.

叩きつけられて薄れゆく視界　うつろな意識の中見た
背中に残った　前と変わらない細く弱く頼りない羽根
Crashing into the ground, my vision blurs. As my consciousness fades,
I saw that nothing has changed; the wings on my back, they are as weak and as worthless as before.

あの風に負けぬしなやかな　翼がほしいと願っている
風を受け止めて上に進んでいけるように
灰色の雲の向こうに　思いを巡らせ空を見るの
いつか輝く世界に　たどりつけると信じてる
"I wish for elegant, supple wings that will not yield to the wind"; so I pray;
so that I will be able to resist the winds, and press onward.
As I gather my thoughts, I look towards the sky; beyond the ashen clouds.
One day, I believe that I will be able to reach that dazzling, radiant world.

造っては壊れてしまった　多くの翼を失ったけど

Though what I created has been destroyed; though I have been stripped of wings many times,
