  1. Democritus:
  2.
  3. Democritus was born in Abdera, Greece in 460BC. He lived to be 90 years old, dying in the year 370BC. He studied natural philosophy in Thrace, Athens, and Abdera, Greece. He enjoyed studying geometry as well. Democritus traveled to many places some of which including India, Egypt, and Babylon. Democritus was never married.
  4.
  5. His mentor, Leucippus, originally came up with the atomic theory, but it was then adopted by Democritus. The atomic theory stated that β€œThe universe is composed of two elements: the atoms and the void in which they exist and move.” According to Democritus atoms were miniscule quantities of matter. Democritus hypothesized that atoms cannot be destroyed, differ in size, shape and temperature, are always moving, and are invisible. He believed that there are an infinite number of atoms. This hypothesis was created in 465BC.

  7. Aristotle:
  8. was an Ancient Greek philosopher and scientist born in the city of Stagira, Chalkidice, on the northern periphery of Classical Greece . His father, nicomachus, died when Aristotle was a child.
  9.
  10. Democritus particle theory:
  11. Democritus's particle theory states that each organism in the universe is made up of particles so minuscule that nothing smaller is possible. Democritus regarded those particles, commonly known as atoms, as unchangeable and indestructible. He also argued that some particles possess different characteristics, which explains the various types of matter throughout the universe.
  12.
  13. Aristotle particle theory: Aristotle did not believe in the atomic theory he taught so otherwise. He thought that all materials on Earth were not made of atoms, but of the four elements, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. He believed all substances were made of small amounts of these four elements of matter.
