43. In 1999, in Nebraska, the police officer Kathryn Bolkovac sees the chance to raise money to be close to her teenage daughter, who lives with her father in another state, with the temporary assignment serving as U.N. peacemaker in Bosnia. The idealistic Kathryn believes that she can make the difference in a country devastated by the war, and she works hard and is promoted to director of her department. But soon she discloses a corruption and human trafficking ring with the direct participation of contractors and diplomats that have diplomatic immunity and she does not know who is reliable.
 44. Inspired by true events, Kathy (Rachel Weisz) is an American police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic doubletalk.
 45. On one side a woman seeking justice on behalf of girls trafficked from Eastern Europe. On the other a huge organization ready to cover up for its men involved with the misdeed. If you consider that the film is based on real events and that the Organization in question is UN you'll understand how you'll feel in the end. After watching the movie I went to check (on Wikipedia) what the actual facts were and it came out that what I saw was pretty close to reality. And this, of course, only heightened the anger.

But besides that, this is a very good film, Rachel Weisz plays a great Kathryn Bolkovac with her Nebraskian stubbornness and her maternal comprehension for the victims of human cruelty. The story flows naturally and the attention is kept high all the time.

I realized that this was a delicate matter by the fact that the name of the Agency involved, DynCorp was changed (in Democra) on the screen and that UN chief in Bosnia at that time, Mr Jacques Paul Klein, is never mentioned. I also read that some criticism was raised about the violence depicted in the movie. Well, I didn't find anything even remotely excessive in there. But, you know, maybe I'm too tough (eh, ehÂ…).
 46. Every woman and teenage girl should see this. Watching this will save lives.

I didn't realize what this movie was about and had gotten it confused with another whistle blowing type movie, so this movie sat in my Netflix queue for over a year until I was home sick with the flu. I started watching this and was dumbfounded. I've seen other movies like Trade, Savior, Welcome to Sarajevo, etc. and was familiar with some of the politics going on during the war, but had never heard about this woman or what she exposed. This has now been moved to the top of my movie recommendation list.

I beg you - watch this movie!
 47. Weisz is a dazzling woman, but her beauty is barely noticeable in this role; her character's integrity and her mounting anger grab all the attention. In one scene Kathy finally confronts what she's up against and starts to cry. They are tears of rage, and the most powerful I've seen this year.
