  92. Use Fallout Mod Manager, Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organiser to manage your mods. It supports one-click install and many other features to make your life easier when modding NV. FOMM is recommended for general mods as it doesn't crash with legacy scripts while NMM has a nice UI for managing texture mods.
  93.
  94. Fallout Mod Manager: Mod Manager designed for Fallout.
  95. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36901/?
  96.
  97. Nexus Mod Manager: Used by many, hated by some.
  98. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/modmanager/?
  99.
  100. Mod Organiser: Technically for Skyrim, but it works reliably.
  101. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?
  102.
  103. NVSE: It's definitely necessary if you're looking to mod the game. No ifs, ands, or buts.
  104. http://nvse.silverlock.org/
  105. For pirated copies try some of the older builds. (http://nvse.silverlock.org/beta/archive/?C=M;O=D)
  106.
  107. Wyre Flash http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35003/
  108. Details:
  109. 1. Extract the Mopy folder to the Root of New Vegas.
  110. 2. Install all the required python files (see description).
  111. 3. Launch the Wyre Bash file located in Mopy folder.
  112. 4. Bashed Patch will appear at the bottom of your load order. If it isn't, move it there.
  113. 5. If it doesn't open the "templates" folder in Mopy and copy Bashed Patch.esp to your Data folder.
  114. 6. Right click Bashed Patch and select "Rebuild Patch"
  115. 7. It will ask you to deactivate any small mods, select yes.
  116. 8. Select ALL the options on the left (You want all the "Import" options ticked) EXCEPT Globals and anything with "Tweaks" in the name. Also deactivate "Import Graphics" with TTW or it will fail to rebuild.
  117. 9. Once it's done use a mod manager and place it very last. Leaving the mods it deactivated inactive (they are now inside the bashed patch) effectively reducing your load order.
  118. 10. The tweaks options can be used to change small game settings without having to use the GECK.
  119. 11. Boxes like [+] have been imported fully and can be safely left unloaded, purple text means partially imported so you should still load them. (happens with TTW as the import GFX option has to be deactivated)
  120. 12. You will still want to create a merged patch as Bashed doesn't import everything.
  121.
  122. FNVEdit http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34703/
  123. Details:
  124. 1. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34703
  125. 2. Install it to the Root of New Vegas
  126. 3. Launch the .exe and Load up your mods, speed varies.
  127. 4. After loading, right click on the list of mods and click "create merged patch" and name it
  128. 5. Close Program and when it asks you to save changes, do so.
  129. 6. Use FOMM to load your Merged Patch
  130.
  131. FNVEdit can do more for you, but the youtube vid on the nexus page describes it all.
  132. In case you dig deeper you'll want to know this:
  133. BOSS/LOOT will report ITMs and UDRs in Honest Hearts, and it is safe to use the automated cleaning process for the ITMs.
  134. But some of the UDRs will fuck up the cave and vacuum you and all the NPCs together if you try to fix them (you can't even use noclip to escape the engine's wrath).
  135. Do not clean them. They're all located in the cave anyway, and will likely cause no trouble.
  136. I'm not aware of any issues like that with the other DLCs.
  137.
  138. Updated 4GB Patch: Use this to increase performance and reduce crashes
  139. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55061/?
  140. If for whatever reason you can't use this patch (just admit you pirated, no one cares) make the game Large Address Aware (LAA). Google is your friend.
  141.
  142. In the case of ENB + Launcher remember to place ONLY d3d9.dll in the exes folder. Nothing else.
  143.
  144. Stutter Remover has no downsides, increases performance, reduces stuttering.
  145. Consider enabling replace heap with a size of 450 in the ini, it reduced stuttering for me in caves (results will vary)
  146. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34832/
  147.
  148. CASM makes the saving system much better. Will most likely reduce crashes and lower the risk of a corrupt save. You'll want to change the settings in MCM. (Requires MCM)
  149. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/45652/
  150.
  151. NVAC is another tool that reduces crashing significantly. Read the description for more information.
  152. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?
  153.
  154. And some insight by the NVAC author on snake-oil ini settings:

  156.
  157. _____________________
  158. LOAD ORDER - IMPORTANT
  159. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  160. Your whole modded game stands or falls depending on your load order.
  161. You can sort automatically with a tool like BOSS (http://boss-developers.github.io/) or alternatives, but when you have over 50 mods you really should start sorting manually. It's a pain at first, but invest time in this and you'll enjoy a crashfree and smooth fallout experience.
  162.
  163. Here's an example load order:
  164. http://pastebin.com/2YucEaJF
  165.
  166. Another example load order that works fine (Heavily modded TTW):
  167. http://pastebin.com/8KUEisQK
  168.
  169. As you can see, all the ESM files go on top. You can not put ESM files below ESP files nor should you attempt to do so. There isn't much difference between ESM and ESP but ESM's mostly contain data that can be modified by ESP's.
  170. Make sure your official ESM's are properly sorted before you begin with anything else. See the example load orders.
  171. ESPS flagged as masters behave exactly like ESMs and are loaded as such.
  172.
  173. The ESP files are best divided into categories.
  174. Just copy-pasta an ESP and rename it to make categories. Make sure you deactivate those ESP's in your mod manager before launching your game! An overview of the various categories can be found here if you are confused: http://pastebin.com/qzVe9rZK
  175.
  176. Categorizing really helps you a lot in maintaining a good load order without much effort. Install a new armor mod? Throw it in the right category and you are done. It helps with fast and easy installing of mods, aswell as with troubleshooting bugs. (A good load order means crash free, not bug free.) If you want to know more or how to sort mods in their own category?
  177. Just read this well written article: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Load_order_and_you
  178.
  179. Another important load order tool is FNVedit. You'll want to create a merged patch after sorting your load order.
  180. Check the utilities section for more details about FNVedit and how to create a merged patch. This is easy and you really must do this.
  181. A merged patch will iron out any conflicts that may be present in your load order.
  182.
  183. You can also Wrye Flash to created a bashed patch, which is preferred by some anons since it does a little more.
  184. It imports small mods, races, items, ... which results into reducing your load order count. A lifesaver when you've extensively modded your game. See load order example 2 for what this enables, the utilities section also has a guide on using Wyre Flash.
  185. It's recommended to create a merged patch as well, importing your entire load order including bashed. This is to ensure nothing is missed.
  186.
  187. A load order can theoretically contain 250 plugins, but the reality is somewhere around 120-150 plugins.
  188. Once you go over the limit, your game will start to show these symptoms: http://a.pomf.se/chqkzi.jpg
  189. To potentially solve this problem you can merge various plugins with FNVedit using this script:http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/ it's on the skyrim nexus but it works with all EDIT programs & games.
  190. To install the script, extract the folder to your New Vegas directory.
  191.
  192. To merge plugins follow these instructions:
  193. - Launch FNVedit and let it load
  194. - Select the plugins you wish to merge from the list
  195. - Right click -> 'apply script' -> Select the merge plugins 1.65 script and select the mods you want to merge.
  196. - Choose the name and save.
  197.
  198. In case the plugins can't be merged, the script should warn you but use your common sense when merging plugins.
  199. Most weapon mods can be safely merged, various bugfixes should be mergeable and so forth. Try to stay in the same category and always makes backups from the original plugins before attempting to run a merged plugin!

  202. BUG FIXES
  203. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  204. YUP Yukichigai Unofficial Patch: A pure bug fix mod with lots of fixes and no objective changes. If you just bought the vanilla game, you'll want to download the version that allows users to enable the ESMs when they buy the expansions later. Comes in many languages.
  205. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51664
  206.
  207. Grimy Pre-war Businesswear Texture Fix: People will now wear unused darker grimy suit instead of everyone having the white one.

  213. Mission Mojave - Ultimate Edition - FNV Community Patch: Patches a load of things, designed for "Mission Mojave - Ultimate Edition Plus" in overhauls, even though it really isn't an overhaul.

  215.
  216. Radio New Vegas Fix: Makes fixes to Radio New Vegas where "Big Iron" would play twice as often as any other song, option to include songs already in the game that don't play because of a glitch.

  299. WEATHER - PICK ONLY ONE
  300. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  301. Project Reality looks quite nice, but has terribly ugly rain. Has performance issues on even the most powerful rigs. Might be good with some FNVEdit butchering.
  302. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/42180/
  303.
  304. Nevada Skies comes with two versions: URWLified, and Normal. Install the one you prefer. Doesn't lower performance too much. May cause framerate drop in Freeside with Freeside Open. Has a menu to change weather patterns/frequencies and cheat menu to force weather to stop.
  305. Normal: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35998/
  306. URWLifed: http://www.moddb.com/mods/nevada-skies-urwl/downloads/nevada-skies-urwlified-v715
  307.
  308. Western Skies edits the way the sky looks, the distant mountains are more blue/purple, but the only weather it supports is duststorms. NOTE: Static clouds and heavily outdated, also has glitched distant fog.
  309. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/Mods/35497
  310.
  311. Realistic Wasteland Lighting: New clouds and piss filter free lighting but only has one weather pattern with different clouds cycles.
  312. The upcoming RWL (at time of pastebin) has new weather patterns including dusty, overcast, alternative sunny and improved clouds.
  313. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/52037/
  314.
  315. Realistic Wasteland Lighting Enhancement: Enhanced version of RWL. Lots of options and patches for many mods. DO NOT USE WITH THE ORIGINAL RWL. THIS REPLACES IT. Read the Bugs & Compatibility section.

  319. TEXTURES & GRAPHICS
  320. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
  321. Recommended Texture Install Order: NMC > NMC Washed Out > Ojo (Excluding landscape) > MGs Neat Clutter > Misc textures.
  322.
  323. NMC's Texture Pack has very nice textures. It's recommended to use the washed out optional textures as the real Mojave isn't red.
  324. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43135/
  325.
  326. POCO BUENO & OJO BUENO: Very nice colorful textures, but doesn't cover as many as NMC.

  333. Textures Over Time: A small amount of very high quality textures. (Rocks in particular) Also has some textures for Zion.
  334. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/41101/
  335.
  336. Detailed Normals: Essentially no performance issues, as it just optimises vanilla textures. Included in NMC's(?) which is why it's not on the Nexus anymore. Useful for a better looking Vegas on toasters. Simple drag and drop.

  449. The most popular and most supported by mods for FEMALES is type 3.

  451. It has a good installer and it will give you some options. (Nude/non-nude, bigger/smaller tits, whatever)
  452.
  453. Arguably a better body for FEMALES (due to it's shape,non-weird shoulders) is Type 6 modified. It has fewer support then type 3 bodies by other mods, but I'd still recommend this one over type 3 for your waifu. If you have a husbando, use type 3 for it's wider support.

  660. Nexus Mods http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/
  661. - Use either Fallout Mod Manager or Nexus Mod Manager to manage your mods. It supports one-click install and many other features to make your life easier when modding Fallout 3.
  662. - Fallout Wanderers Edition rebalances the game making it actually legitimately challenging.
  663. - DarnifiedUI vastly improves UI.
  664. - Imperfection is a creature mod adding over a hundred different variants of creatures to the wasteland. There are no ridiculous, silly or annoying creatures, just variants of lore-friendly creatures. Works with Mart's Mutant Mod, but really it's more of an improved (and more stable) version of MMM.
  665. - DC Interiors adds many well-designed, lore-friendly locations across the wasteland, adding to FO3's best feature which is the exploration aspect.
  666. - Realistic Interior Lighting does what it says: makes all those underground areas and raider dens much darker, as they would be logically. Creates a much more atmospheric game.
  667. - Error Fixes v1.5 is the lastest incarnation of the "unofficial patch". Fixes a lot of the bugs, missing dialogue options, etc. Pretty much required.
  668. - GNR Enhanced adds more music. Arguably the best radio station mod.
  669. - MME Sav-O-Tron saves for you on a configurable interval. Use this and turn the in-game autosaves off for much more stability.
  670. - T6M Armors if you care about prettified female character armors this is the best one IMO. Sexier armors esp. power armors, without being completely over the top sexualized to the point of being silly.

  690. Lets Fallout 2 run at high resolutions, highly recommended.
  691. (If you have a 1080p or better monitor, you should probably play FO1/FO2 in Scaling 2x mode, the game was never meant to be that far zoomed out)
  692.
  693. >Some ammo penetrates armor well, but some doesn't. Also it's best NOT to use the AP ammo, it's bad implemented in the game. Only some types are good, but they are quite rare. Good AP ammo: Rocket AP and Needler AP.
  694.
  695. >Secondary Skill Doctor can be used to heal crippled limbs. You have a % chance of success, even with 10% skill, so there is no need to tag it.
  696.
  697. >If you find some melee enemies hard, wait until they almost reach you, attack, then retreat a few Action Points. Most of them can't move enough to reach you and to attack as well.
  698.
  699. >You can often survive an otherwise unbeatable random encounter by running away.
  700.
  701. >You can keep some one-handed weapon in inventory in case one of your arms gets crippled. Don't leave NPCs or stuff in a random map location. After you go, they are lost forever.
  702. It's recommended to save often. Save before a battle and after. You can always take a critical shot which bypass your armor and kill you no matter the stage of the game.
  703.
  704. >Also it's recommended to save before you try to lockpick something, it's a chance to critically fail and jam the lock (it will last until midnight)
  705.
  706. >Save before taking drugs, bad things can happen.
  707.
  708. >It's a good idea to search everything. Search the boxes, containers, dead bodies, some of them are in locations obscured by walls. Also if you take something from a house with people around, they may become hostile, so save before and use sneak when necessary.
  709.
  710. >If an enemy has fallen down, the chance to hit him is increased by 40%. So targeted shots can be used at that point. You can shoot an enemy in the legs to knock them down.
  711.
  712. >Best targeted shots are in the eyes - around 60% more the normal critical shot chance. A critical hit worths 2-4 times the damage of a normal hit and can bypass enemies' armor.
