  1. Final Fantasy VIII
  2.
  3. Platform: PS1
  4. Release dates (d.m.y):
  5. 11.02.1999 (Japan)
  6. 31.08.1999 (NA)
  7. 27.10.1999 (PAL)
  8.
  9. Based on: PAL-version (SLES-02080, SLES-12080, SLES-22080, SLES-32080)
  10.
  11.
  12.
  13. - Successfully Mugging an enemy will prevent the target from dropping
  14. any items whatsoever (Raijin 2 being the only exception).
  15. - The enemy can still drop its respective card even if you successfully
  16. Mug it (Ultima Weapon being a slight exception).
  17. - Luck increases your evade rate, critical hit rate and the chance to
  18. surprise the enemy (no effect on the chance to steal).
  19. - Squall's "critical" hits are not as powerful as the other characters'
  20. (150% vs. 200%).
  21. - Once a character's HP is below 30% or so, there's a chance that the
  22. Limit Break command will become available when you access or "refresh"
  23. the Command menu. If the character is inflicted with status ailments
  24. and / or other characters are dead, it's possible to get a Limit Break
  25. at a somewhat higher HP value. The Aura status allows a character to
  26. execute Limit Breaks at any HP value.
  27. - Limit Break skills will take priority in queued actions.
  28. - Darkness will not prevent Squall from hitting, but instead it disables
  29. the trigger command.
  30. - The hit rate of Card is determined by the target's cHP divided by mHP.
  31. - The hit rate of Devour is determined by the target's mHP, cHP divided
  32. by mHP, and the user's mHP.
  33. - LV Up / Down will occasionally miss.
  34. - New weapon models will show up in the Junk Shop menu as soon as you
  35. have the necessary materials for a specific weapon, or when you read
  36. volumes of the Weapons Monthly magazine.
  37. - Load zone indicators are gone, because, f*ck you, that's why.
  38.
  39. - There is no MP in the game. Instead, spells are quantified. You obtain
  40. spells by 'Drawing' them from enemies or Draw Points found on the field.
  41. You can also create them from items using certain Abilities.
  42. × Drawing power is affected by the character's Magic.
  43. × Drawing spells from enemies can easily get pretty boring. If you go
  44. down the item route, you won't have to do that anywhere near as much.
  45. If you prefer to use Draw for whatever reason, don't forget to use the
  46. Lv Up Command Ability to gain access to better spells.
  47. - There are 49 different spells in the game. Each character can carry
  48. up to 32 different spells, with at most 100 each. You can freely move
  49. spells between characters and even delete them.
  50. - Leveling up produces very minimal stat gains in FF8. Instead, you're
  51. primarily supposed to rely on the Junction system to increase your stats.
  52. This system involves 'Junctioning' spells to specific stats or attributes.
  53. The stats and attributes available for Junctioning are determined by the
  54. Abilities of the character's equipped GF.
  55. - Summon monsters are called GF (Guardian Force) this time around. There
  56. are 16 GF in total (plus a few special ones that you can't equip). Most
  57. GF are obtained by Drawing them from bosses or by defeating a boss. GF
  58. will learn new Abilities as you gain AP from battles. Most Abilities can
  59. also be taught using items, though they're generally not easy to come by.
  60. Each GF can have at most 22 Abilities. You can delete Abilities by using
  61. the item Amnesia Greens (bought for 1000 gil).
  62. × By default, each GF will indeed learn 22 Abilities. Not all of these
  63. Abilities are on the list at first, though, as they need to be unlocked
  64. by learning some other Ability (eg. learning Str +20% unlocks Str +40%).
  65. If there are no free slots when an Ability is unlocked, that Ability
  66. is lost.
  67. × GF also gain xp, and there are a few Abilities that require the GF
  68. to reach a certain level.
  69. × You can buy basic stat Junction scrolls in Timber (10k each) once you
  70. have Tonberry's Familiar ability.
  71. × Hit-J is the only Junction ability that can't be taught with an item.
  72. × GF can also be summoned during battle, but the animations are quite
  73. lengthy, and the damage is pretty modest at low levels. As such, there's
  74. no reason to use them in a low level playthrough (I wouldn't use them
  75. either way). If you never use summons, you'll have no use for the Sum
  76. Mag + and GF HP + Abilities. You won't need Boost either, but that one
  77. can't be taught with an item, so you might want to hang on to it.

  96.
  97. - There are no treasure chests.
  98. - Enemies don't drop any money. Initially, your main source of income
  99. is your SeeD salary that you'll automatically receive periodically. It
  100. should be enough on Disc 1. On Disc 2, however, you gain access to an
  101. Ability that allows you to amass millions of gil with little time and
  102. effort (and you'll need it if you want to max out some of your stats).
  103. × Your salary is determined by your SeeD level. Many of your actions
  104. and choices throughout the game will have an impact on your SLv. In
  105. a low level playthrough, you'll miss out on the single most common
  106. positive force on your SLv: killing enemies (by taking their HP to 0).
  107. This shouldn't be a problem, however, and I would advise you not to
  108. mind your SLv.
  109.
  110. - Because enemies' stats are scaled based on your party's level, creating
  111. the strongest possible party involves keeping your levels as low as
  112. possible. You can avoid gaining Exp by:
  113. 1. Running away
  114. 2. Morphing / Devouring
  115. 3. Casting Break
  116. 4. Using LV Down
  117. 5. Equipping Enc-None
  118. 6. Having only one PC alive at the end of a battle
  119. 7. Using TPCs (Seifer and Edea)
  120.
  121. - If you get ambushed, it takes quite a long while to run away.
  122. - Morphing will be your primary method of nullifying xp (when you're
  123. actually fighting something and not using Enc-None), so try to get good
  124. at it. If you're not focusing, it's really easy to lose count of the
  125. damage you've dealt, so don't hesitate to use Scan (again) if you're
  126. not sure if you can weaken the enemy further.
  127. - If you have completionist tendencies, you could also consider trying
  128. to obtain as many of the 198 different items in the game as you can (as
  129. in, at least one of each).
  130. × 2 Unique items will be lost, as they're needed for GF. 4 items are
  131. PocketStation exclusive (Mog's Amulet, Chocobo's Tag, Friendship,
  132. Ribbon).
  133. × You'll likely need to use Angelo Search for the following 4 items:
  134. Jet Engine, Hero-Trial, Gold Armor, Hungry Cookpot. I don't bother
  135. with these myself.
  136.
  137. - Here are some key points:
  138.
  139. Disc 1
  140. - Learn Card (20 AP from Ifrit, the rest with Seifer in Dollet).
  141. - Learn Enc-None.
  142. - Get 100 Tornado spells for at least one character and a few dozens
  143. of Break by playing cards. At the same time, you should obtain some
  144. other useful Magic (Confuse, Haste, Meltdown, Pain, Death, Regen,
  145. Curaga, Berserk). After this, Triple Triad will be mostly optional.
  146.
  147. Disc 2
  148. - Leech Ultima spells at Shumi Village.
  149. - Complete the CC Group side quest.
  150. - Get GF Tonberry.
  151. - Steal 100 Curse Spikes from the Tri-Faces at the main hall of Galbadia
  152. Garden (if collecting items).
  153.
  154. Disc 3
  155. - Build up Siren to Lv100 with Edea.
  156. - Steal more Curse Spikes from the Tri-Faces at the Deep Sea Deposit if
  157. needed.
  158. - Obtain the last remaining GF.
  159. - Finish your spell collection with the help of the Draw Points at
  160. Heaven and Hell.
  161. - Clean up the TT rules in Centra.
  162. - Create loads of stat boost items (HP Up, Str Up, Spr Up) by refining
  163. [Stat]+40% items.
  164.
  165. Disc 4
  166. - Create Vit Ups by repeatedly winning back the Minotaur Card from Joker.
  167. - More stat boosting if needed.

  217.
  218. Party: Squall Lv7 (6500xp)
  219.
  220. GF: Quezacotl, Shiva \\\ B-Garden- Classroom ||
  221. Initial stats (Squall): 486 HP, 17 Str, 6 Vit, 6 Mag, 5 Spr, 21 Spd,
  222. 16 Luck, 1% Eva, 255% Hit
  223. Inventory: 6 Potions, 4 Phoenix Downs, 2 Remedies, 5 Tents and 5000 Gil
  224. Default weapon (Squall): Revolver
  225. - Now would be a good time to customize the settings through the
  226. configuration menu.
  227. - Examine the monitor at Squall's desk and choose Tutorial.
  228. - "Equip" Squall with Shiva, and save Quetzalcoatl for Quistis. Also make
  229. sure Shiva is learning Str-J, and Quezacotl is going for Card. You can
  230. change these through the Guardian Force menu.
  231. - Squall's Limit Break, Renzokuken, allows you to hit an enemy multiple
  232. times, although the hit count may vary (4-8 + finisher). Upgrading his
  233. weapon gives him access to new finishing moves.
  234.
  235. \\\ B-Garden- 2F Hallway ||
  236. - Talk to the man near the elevator to receive a bunch of Level 1 cards.
  237. I wouldn't bother playing Triple Triad until you have some better cards.
  238.
  239. \\\ B-Garden- Hall ||
  240. - Examine the computer screen near the save point, and you can fast-travel
  241. to various locations within the Garden. You can only use this on Disc 1.
  242. - I recommend against venturing into the Training facility at the moment.
  243.
  244. \\\ B-Garden- Quad ||
  245. - Talk to Selphie, and you'll be given the option to help her out with
  246. the Garden Festival. Choose the dialog options 'Interested' and 'Sure.'
  247.
  248. Item: Occult Fan I \\\ B-Garden- Library ||
  249. Draw: Esuna (low res, no rec)
  250.
  251. Draw: Cure \\\ B-Garden - Front Gate ||
  252. PC: Quistis Lv8
  253. Initial stats (Quistis): 501 HP, 19 Str, 5 Vit, 6 Mag, 6 Spr, 20 Spd,
  254. 15 Luck, 1% Eva, 103% Hit
  255. Default weapon (Quistis): Chain Whip
  256. - Quistis' Limit Break is Blue Magic. There are 16 Enemy Skills in
  257. total (she starts with one: Laser Eye). She can learn more by using
  258. certain items.
  259.
  260. Party: Squall Lv7, Quistis Lv8 \\\ Balamb- Alcauld Plains ||
  261. Draw: Cure, Blizzard, Esuna (high res, high rec)
  262. - I should remind you that you are not to attack enemies during battles.
  263. Drawing spells is recommended, however. Stock up with a decent supply
  264. of Scan and Blizzard, a max supply of Cure and Thunder and a small
  265. supply of Sleep.
  266. - Check a map to find the invisible Draw Points.
  267. - A draw point with high resistance (high res) produces a small yield.
  268. High recovery (high rec) means that it only takes a short amount of time
  269. before the draw point can be used again.
  270. - Notice that you will not run into random encounters on the paved road.
  271.
  272. Lost & Found: Ifrit Card (Ifrit) \\\ Fire Cavern ||
  273. GF: Ifrit
  274. Boss: Ifrit
  275. - Recheck that your GF are learning the right Abilities when you reach
  276. the area where the music stops.
  277.
  278. [Boss]
  279. - 20 AP
  280.
  281. - Regarding Ifrit's Abilities, give F Mag-RF, HP-J and Str+20% priority.
  282.
  283. PC: Zell \\\ BGarden- Dormitory Double ||
  284. TPC: Seifer
  285. - Examine Squall's bed and choose to get changed.
  286.
  287. \\\ Balamb Harbor ||
  288. Initial stats (Zell): 544 HP, 19 Str, 5 Vit, 6 Mag, 4 Spr, 21 Spd,
  289. 15 Luck, 1% Eva, 98% Hit
  290. Default weapon (Zell): Metal Knuckle
  291. - Zell's Limit Break, Duel, allows you to hit the enemy multiple times
  292. by inputting commands for various attacks, similar to Blitz / Hissatsuwaza
  293. from FF6. He has access to all moves from the get-go, although half of
  294. these moves won't be visible until you find certain editions of the Combat
  295. King magazine.
  296.
  297. Special: Timber Maniacs #1a \\\ Balamb Hotel ||
  298. - Any of the twelve volumes of the Timber Maniacs you may find will not
  299. actually show up in the inventory.
  300. - There's an item shop near the train station, so go check it out if
  301. you're worried about supplies. You'll probably find the Junk Shop as well,
  302. but I'll completely ignore weapon upgrades until halfway through Disc 2.
  303.
  304. Party: Squall, Zell, Seifer, [Quistis] \\\ Dollet- Lapin Beach ||
  305. - Equip Squall with Shiva, Zell with Quezacotl, and Seifer with Ifrit.
  306. Give Seifer something to boost his Strength.
  307.
  308. \\\ Dollet- Town Square ||
  309.
  310. [Fixed Encounter001: 2× G-Soldiers] (208xp)
  311. - Unless you've managed to obtain some Break spells, you'll need to
  312. kill off Squall and Zell so that they won't gain any Exp. Keep in mind,
  313. though, that their GF *will* gain both xp and AP.
  314.
  315. [Fixed Encounter002: 2× G-Soldiers] (150xp)
  316.
  317. [Fixed Encounter003: G-Soldier] (104xp)
  318.
  319. [Fixed Encounter004: G-Soldier] (104xp)
  320.
  321. - Random encounters will be activated once you reach the bridge. At this
  322. point, your main objectives are:
  323. 1. Learn Card (then move to Card Mod)
  324. 2. Build up Ifrit to Level 10 (4500xp), at which point the Abilities
  325. Mad Rush and Ammo-RF are unlocked.
  326. 3. Keep Seifer in your party until #1 and #2 have been completed. He
  327. leaves your party when you reach the third Mountain Hideout area.
  328.
  329. PC: Selphie \\\ Dollet- Mountain Hideout ||
  330. Lost & Found: 2× Dragon Skin (Anacondaur - Rare)
  331. Initial stat (Selphie): 482 HP, 18 Str, 5 Vit, 10 Mag, 7 Spr, 17 Spd,
  332. 19 Luck, 1% Eva, 98% Hit
  333. Default weapon (Selphie): Flail
  334.
  335. [Fixed Encounter005: Anacondaur]
  336.
  337. - Things may get messy when fighting two Anacondaurs at a time. Don't
  338. hesitate to run away if you think you don't have enough time to use
  339. Red Cross - No Mercy three times or so.
  340. - Heal your party after Seifer leaves; you'll be revived with 1 HP.
  341. Any spells Seifer had will be transferred to Selphie.
  342. - Selphie's Limit Break, Slot, allows her to cast a random spell,
  343. possibly multiple times. This gives her exclusive access to four special
  344. spells: Full-Cure, Wall, Rapture and The End. However, at her default
  345. level, you'll only ever see Full-Cure and, rarely, Wall. Not a big deal.
  346.
  347. Party: Squall Lv7, Zell Lv8, Selphie Lv8 \\\ Dollet- Comm Tower ||
  348. Draw: Esuna (Biggs 1), Protect (X-ATM092), Siren GF (Elvoret)
  349. Lost & Found: Weapons Mon Mar (Elvoret)
  350. Bosses: Biggs 1 (+ Wedge 1) & Elvoret (separate phases), X-ATM092
  351. - Squall: Shiva; Zell: Ifrit; Selphie: Quezacotl.
  352.
  353. [Boss]
  354. - 14 / 18 AP in total
  355. - If your Magic is too low, you'll have a very hard time Drawing Esuna.
  356. - Make sure you Draw Siren from Elvoret.
  357. - Keep Squall in critical condition so you can execute Renzokuken every turn.
  358.
  359. - Note: You *cannot* pause the game on the field once you've stepped out
  360. of the tower and fought X-ATM for the first time.
  361.
  362. [Boss]
  363. - (50 AP)
  364. - After hacking X-ATM enough, you will be advised to run. Do so unless
  365. you're powerful enough to take out its HP before the repairs are complete.
  366.
  367. - All future encounters with the machine can be avoided, assuming you're
  368. fast and witty enough.
  369. - 092 will jump over you at the bridge, at which point you just need to
  370. run back until it jumps over you again, allowing you to pass though the
  371. area unharmed.
  372. - At the central square, you should "talk" to the dog while you're running
  373. through.
  374.
  375. - Having obtained the ability to morph enemies into Cards, you can now
  376. build up your GF without gaining levels. Finishing up the story events
  377. in the Garden first isn't a bad idea, however.
  378.
  379. \\\ B-Garden- Hall ||
  380. - Trigger an event centering around Seifer in the eastern lobby before
  381. proceeding to the 2F Hallway.
  382.
  383. Special: Battle Meter \\\ B-Garden - Headmaster's Office ||
  384. - Talk to Cid to receive the Battle Meter, which can be viewed through
  385. the menu (Tutorial, Information, Information, Battle Report).
  386.
  387. \\\ B-Garden- 2F Hallway ||
  388. - The test results determine your starting SeeD level. It's really not
  389. that important.
  390.
  391. \\\ B-Garden- Dormitory Double ||
  392. - If you haven't joined the Garden Festival committee yet, Selphie will
  393. ask you to in the Ballroom.
  394.
  395. PC: Quistis \\\ B-Garden- Hallway ||
  396. - Set up your skills and GF etc.
  397.
  398. Draw: Protect (Raldo), Shell (Granaldo) \\\ B-Garden- Training Center ||
  399. Cards: Shumi Tribe (Grat, T-Rexaur)
  400. Boss(es): Granaldo & 3× Raldos
  401. - Trigger an event by entering the area north from the save point.
  402.
  403. [Boss]
  404. - 14 AP in total
  405.
  406. Item: Weapons Mon Apr \\\ B-Garden- Dormitory Single ||
  407. - Check the table to find Weapons Monthly, April Issue. As I already
  408. mentioned, you do *not* need the magazines in order to upgrade your
  409. weapons.
  410.
  411. Item: Magical Lamp (Unique, Temp) \\\ B-Garden- Front Gate ||
  412. PCs: Selphie, Zell
  413. - Talk to Cid to receive the Magical Lamp. Using it triggers a boss
  414. battle you may not yet be prepared for.
  415.
  416. GF: Diablos \\\ Any location ||
  417. Lost & Found: Diablos Card (Diablos)
  418. Draw: Demi (Diablos)
  419. Boss: Diablos
  420.
  421. [Boss]
  422. - Diablos has 6400 HP (at Level 7) and is worth 20 AP
  423. - Draw-Cast Demi with Selphie (Quetzalcoatl)
  424. - Use Renzokuken and looped Duel (eg. Punch Rush, Booya, repeat) as
  425. often as possible
  426.
  427. - If you just can't do it, try again later with some Tornado in your stock.
  428.
  429. Party: Squall Lv7, Selphie Lv8, Zell Lv8
  430. \\\ Balamb- Alcauld Plains ||
  431. Card: Elvoret (Bite Bug), Trauma (Caterchipillar), Jumbo Cactuar (Glacial Eye)
  432. - Before going on a Triple Triad frenzy, you could take the time to
  433. morph some enemies into (possibly rare) cards. In case you haven't
  434. tested this yet, just weaken the enemy to below 50% mHP or so, and
  435. then fire away with the Card command. Make good use of the Scan spell.
  436. - Always use Squall to weaken the target since you can control his critical
  437. hits. That is, unless you're certain that the other characters' attacks
  438. won't kill the enemy.
  439.
  440. Card: Krysta (Buel, Bomb), [X-ATM092] (Red Bat) \\\ Fire Cavern ||
  441. - De-equip any Strength boosts before attempting to weaken any Buels.
  442. Alternatively, have a character with low Magic Draw-Cast Fire.
  443. - You can create 10 Holy spells from a single Krysta card. On the other
  444. hand, it's also pretty decent when playing Triple Triad.
  445. - Stay away from the Red Bats, as I seriously doubt your ability to weaken
  446. them without instantly killing them in the process.
  447.
  448. \\\ Rinauld Coast ||
  449. - This area is highly recommended when in need of Abilities. A single
  450. Fastitocalon (F) is worth 3 AP, and they always appear in groups of two.
  451. Unfortunately, they can only be morphed into Fastitocalon-F cards.
  452. They also seem to be resistant to Scan; you can see their level, but
  453. not their HP. In any case, you can get 100 AP in about 30 minutes.
  454. - Aim for all the menu Abilities (Mid Mag-RF, Card Mod, etc) for now.
  455. Playing Triple Triad and using these Abilities allows you to obtain
  456. some pretty powerful spells.
  457.
  458. \\\ Balamb- Town Square ||
  459. - Save the game and then locate the Queen of Cards near the item shop.
  460. Challenge her to a game of cards. If the Trade Rule Diff (or All) pops
  461. up, opt to quit, and go challenge someone else (the girl at the gas
  462. station, for instance) to make sure it spreads. You won't actually see
  463. a message saying 'Trading Rule Diff has spread out through this region'
  464. or anything like that, though. If the Queen offers some other Trade Rule,
  465. reset and try again. The one Trade Rule you need to avoid at all costs
  466. is Direct.
  467. - Once you've obtained the Trade Rule of your liking, start beating
  468. people up (with cards). The mini-game is *very* simple (a higher value
  469. beats a lower value), so you shouldn't have trouble getting the hang of
  470. it. The easiest way to win is to play defensively until the very end.
  471. - WARNING: Challenging the crouching guy at the harbor will erase any
  472. and all rules in the Balamb region. Just stay away from him unless you
  473. know what you're doing.
  474. - The Trade Rule will revert back to One occasionally, but this seems
  475. to be only temporary.
  476.

  482.
  483. Cards: Quistis (Trepe Groupie #1, #2, or #3) \\\ B-Garden- Cafeteria ||
  484. - Naturally, you can only get one Quistis card even though 3 people use it.
  485.
  486. - The following cards take priority (spells): Abyss Worm (Tornado),
  487. Cockatrice (Break), Grat; Buel; Jelleye (Haste), Gayla (Meltdown),
  488. Forbidden (Confuse), Imp; Vysage; Turtapod (Curaga), Elastoid (Berserk),
  489. Mesmerize (Regen), Tri-Face (Pain).
  490. - Other useful cards (items): Elnoyle (Energy Crystal), Iron Giant
  491. (Star Fragment), Malboro (Malboro Tentacle), Bomb (Bomb Fragment),
  492. Cactuar (Cactus Thorn).
  493.
  494.
  495. \\\ Balamb- Town Square ||
  496. - Save and go challenge the Queen. If a Trade Rule other than Diff or
  497. One pops up, reset. Sometimes asking her about the "current trend in
  498. trade rules" first helps. Anyway, that's just part one. Next,
  499. intentionally lose your MiniMog card to her (you can get it back
  500. later) and talk to her afterwards. If she says she's heading to a
  501. location other than Dollet, reset. Keep trying until she chooses to
  502. go to Dollet (and doesn't throw stuff like Direct at you). Doing this
  503. will allow you to get the Kiros card when you catch up with her.
  504. × There are a few other cards that require you to lose specific cards
  505. to the Queen. It's a bit of a pain, so if you don't feel like going
  506. through the trouble, you really don't have to. You can still get these
  507. cards and any other rare cards you may have missed on Disc 4.
  508.
  509. Spell check
  510. - 100 Tornado, at least 50 Break (in addition to Cockatrice Pinions, you
  511. can also get Break from Soft). You'll likely be able to create some other
  512. useful spells as well, but these two are the minimum requirements.
  513.
  514. Ability check
  515. - Enc-None. I'd also recommend getting ab. 100 AP for Mug, but I guess
  516. it's not crucial.
  517.
  518. Card check
  519. - Seifer, Zell, Quistis and a couple of boss cards would be nice too.
  520.
  521. - Once you feel prepared, approach the train conductor and fork out
  522. 3000 Gil to cover the fare.

  533. Item: Pet Pals Vol 2 \\\ Timber- Forest Owls' Base ||
  534. Cards: Angelo (Watts)
  535. Default regional rules (Galbadia): Same
  536. PC: Rinoa Lv11
  537. Initial stats (Rinoa): 653 HP, 22 Str, 5 Vit, 15 Mag, 9 Spr, 22 Spd,
  538. 17 Luck, 1% Eva, 99% Hit
  539. Default weapon (Rinoa): Pinwheel
  540. - Triple Triad's about to get more tricky now. Go save the game in the
  541. second screen, and then challenge Watts. Agree to mix the rules and then
  542. quit. "The Open rule has spread throughout this region" is what you want
  543. to hear. If he stops asking about mixing the rules before this happens,
  544. reset.
  545.
  546. - Unfortunately, thanks to one of Rinoa's Limit Breaks, I'd advice you
  547. to never keep her in your party unless no other choice is given; Angelo
  548. Rush will activate randomly even at max HP, potentially resulting in
  549. Exp. I'd more than likely replace Zell from my standard party with her
  550. if it weren't for that.
  551. - In case you're still determined to use her, here's some info on her
  552. (and Angelo's) Limit Break skills. They're actually divided into two
  553. categories (even though they are all listed in the same window in the
  554. Status screen):
  555. 1. Counterattacks -> Angelo Rush (default), Angelo Recover (Pet Pals Vol 2),
  556. Angelo Reverse (Pet Pals Vol 4), Angelo Search (Pet Pals Vol 5).
  557. Recover, Reverse and Search are harmless, and learning them will
  558. probably decrease the chances of Rush.
  559. 2. Normal Limit command -> Angelo Cannon (default), Angelo Strike
  560. (Pet Pals Vol 1), Invincible Moon (Pet Pals Vol 3), Wishing Star
  561. (Pet Pals Vol 6). One of these will be randomly executed (assuming
  562. you've learnt it) upon using the Combine Limit Break. Unfortunately,
  563. you cannot increase Wishing Star's activation rate by skipping Angelo
  564. Strike and Invincible Moon. You can, however, increase the activation
  565. rate of Invincible Moon by not learning Wishing Star. Apparently,
  566. all four skills are present when you call for Angelo, but if you
  567. roll a skill you haven't learnt, you'll go "down the ladder."
  568. - A sound will tell you once a skill has been learnt. Rinoa must be
  569. in the active party for Angelo to gain AP.
  570. - After the briefing, head back to Rinoa's cabin to find Pet Pals Vol 2.

  619. Theft: Whisper (Adamantoise)
  620. - Geezards are somewhat difficult to weaken, so be careful. On the other
  621. hand, they can't be morphed into rare cards, either.
  622. - Look for Adamantoises on the beach if you're not intimidated by the
  623. low encounter rate. You can create 50 Curaga spells from a single Whisper.
  624. They also rarely drop the item, but by the time that happens, you'll
  625. likely already have learnt Mug. Triple digit Strength is highly recommended,
  626. as they possess a colossal Vitality value and the ability to completely
  627. heal their HP with White Wind.
  628.
  629. \\\ Dollet- Town Square ||
  630. Default regional rules (Dollet): Random, Elemental
  631. - If you're still into cards, let's fix up the rules here. Start by
  632. saving the game.
  633. - Challenge the salesclerk renting cars and quit. Now, there are several
  634. messages you may get afterwards, but the ones we're looking for are:
  635. × "The 'Open' rule has spread throughout this region."
  636. × "The 'Elemental' rule was abolished from this region."
  637. × "The 'Random' rule was abolished from this region."
  638. - If you get another message, reset. If she stops asking about mixing
  639. the rules before you get one these messages, reset.
  640. - Once you succeed, run back to Timber.
  641. - You can start the Obel Lake side quest now, but you can't complete it.
  642.
  643. \\\ Timber- City Square ||
  644. - Challenge the guard on the left at the entrance. Refuse to play a
  645. mixed rule game until he / she stops asking about it. Now check that
  646. the rules are Open and Same, and quit (or play if you want).
  647. - If you talk to the guy in front of Timber Maniacs building and
  648. encourage him to become a journalist, you'll get a Pet Nametag on Disc 2.
  649.
  650. Special: Timber Maniacs #3 \\\ Timber Hotel ||
  651. - Stay at the hotel to find another Tim Mani. Now, run back to Dollet.
  652.
  653. \\\ Dollet- Town Square ||
  654. - Do the same thing as before: save, mix, quit. Notice that you can
  655. never abolish *all* the rules in a region. Assuming you made some
  656. progress, run back to Timber again.
  657.
  658. \\\ Timber- City Square ||
  659. - Once again, challenge the guard until the option to mix the rules no
  660. longer appears. Don't forget that afterwards, you will need to challenge
  661. someone and at least 'quit.' (Doing so will make the Same rule "stick"
  662. with you)
  663.
  664. \\\ Dollet- Town Square ||
  665. - You know the drill. There should only be either Random or Elemental
  666. left. Once only Open (and the Trade Rule, of course) remains, it's
  667. mission accomplished. In any case, cards aren't the only reason to
  668. come here.
  669. - Abolishing all the unwanted rules from all regions is a very time-
  670. consuming process. Since it's already fairly tedious to create all
  671. those stat boost items (on Disc 3/4), I can't blame you if you'd rather
  672. not do it. It's not even necessary for boosting your stats. It's really
  673. more of a completionist thing. The one exception is Centra. At the very
  674. least, you should fix the rules in Centra, since that's the one Joker
  675. uses. You can still do that on Disc 4, so there's no rush. As for getting
  676. a complete card collection, you could certainly do that even without
  677. manipulating the rules. It's a little trickier, but it's not too bad.

  687. - Talk to the Queen and inquire about her artist father to find out
  688. what happened to your MiniMog. Challenge her if you wish to f*ck up
  689. (or change) the trading rule.
  690. - Challenge the guy near her (the one who has hair). If you beat him,
  691. he'll let you come into his private room. Keep playing with him until
  692. you win the Siren card.
  693. - Examine the pile of magazines repeatedly to eventually find 3 items
  694. (such as the second volume of the Occult Fan). You can get 3 more items

  720. [Fixed Encounter008: 3× Esthar Soldiers]
  721.
  722. - This place is quite tricky so I'll be going through it step-by-step.
  723. Your actions here determine what items you'll find inside the Lunatic
  724. Pandora on Disc 3.
  725. - After the first fixed encounters, take the western path. You'll find
  726. a Confuse DP and ladders down. Descend. Run around the left side of the
  727. area until you are given the option to pick something up (Old Key 1 - you
  728. don't actually get to keep it). Proceed and you should find three hatches
  729. on the ground. Examine the middle one, and you'll eventually be presented
  730. with the option of tampering with it. Do so and head east. Return to the
  731. previous area, and attempt to tamper with the right hatch as well. Now,
  732. head east past the cross-like area. Move towards the metal objects and
  733. you should again be given the option to pick something up (Old Key 2 -
  734. Laguna manages to lose this one as well). Proceed east until you reach the
  735. area with the Sleep DP again. Take the same path as the first time, so
  736. you can go tamper with the left hatch (or at least try). Return to the
  737. "inverse T" area (where you found the second key) and proceed north.
  738. - Follow the eastern path to find a save sphere. Retrace and take the
  739. path north. Examine the object near the boulder, which actually turns
  740. out to be a detonator (the object, not the boulder). Hit the red switch
  741. first and you should see the left hatch opening as a result of the
  742. events. The blue one will now take care of the right hatch (in addition
  743. to some sentries). Proceed north. After passing through the area with
  744. pink crystals, you'll find yet another boulder. Simply examine it.
  745. Proceed northeast to find the save point again. Head north.
  746.
  747. [Fixed Encounter009: 2× Esthar Soldiers]
  748. - These guys are worth 0 xp, so you can safely take them out with brute
  749. force. Break is ineffective anyway. Assuming you successfully triggered
  750. all the traps inside the complex, this will be the only battle here.
  751. Otherwise, you might be facing as many as four more.

  764. \\\ G-Garden- Clubroom ||
  765. - We're going to try and fix up Trabia's rules, so save first, then
  766. challenge the guy in red. Spread Open and abolish Random and Plus
  767. (listed as Same/Plus).
  768. × Same means that you'll get a hit if the values facing off are the same.
  769. × Plus means that you'll get a hit if the values facing off add up to
  770. the same value.
  771. × Same-Wall means the walls have a value of 10 / A.
  772. - In case you forgot, after each successful rule change (except for the
  773. last one), you need to at least dummy-challenge (ie. agree to play -after-
  774. the option to mix rules is no longer presented, then quit immediately)

  813. mess up your orientation, so better keep that Enc-None equipped at least
  814. until you've defeated the Brothers. Don't forget that you can view the
  815. map with Select. In the second area inside the tomb, you'll find the

  1256. area, hug the mountains close to Shumi Village and the nearby Chocobo
  1257. Forest. Otherwise you may never find any Blue Dragons here. 9300 HP at Lv32.
  1258. - Ochus and Forbiddens can be found near the beach, on the terrain that
  1259. isn't covered in snow. Selphie's Strange Vision only requires two Curse
  1260. Spikes. If you've played cards, you should already have them - unless
  1261. you turned them into Pain. In any case, Forbiddens like to use Death,
  1262. so make sure you're protected.
  1263. - Ochus are pretty uncommon. You can also find them in the forests near
  1264. Timber.
  1265. - In case you didn't figure it out, you can change the enemy's Level

  1282. - Something tells me you're not quite ready to take on L64 Ruby Dragons,
  1283. but you may still find something of interest here (the encounter rate is
  1284. fairly low anyway). Inferno Fangs, for instance, provide you with 20 Flare
  1285. spells each.
  1286. - If you're only interested in Blitzes, you should head farther east,
  1287. to Almaj Mountains or so, and hug the mountains there. Keep in mind that
  1288. having the Rare Item ability equipped completely prevents you from
  1289. successfully stealing a Power Generator.

  1303. rate. 6300 HP at Lv32, 12 000 HP at Lv48. You'll need Meltdown.
  1304. - You'll need three lumps of Adamantine in total (you should already
  1305. have one from BGH).
  1306.
  1307. Item: Protect Stone, Meteor Stone \\\ Chocobo Forest (Nectar Peninsula)|
  1308. - This one's directly south of FH, at the very northern parts of Centra.

  1310. left side of Chocoboy. Now, place Squall so that he's standing just
  1311. slightly above the "level" of Chocoboy's waist. It should be around there.
  1312. - Once you catch the big one, challenge Chocoboy, but instead of playing
  1313. cards (he uses Centra rules, which we'll ignore for now), tell him to

  1320. the hot spot a bit south from the north-most chicobo. That should do it.
  1321. - After finding the stones, ride the chocobo east, and travel past the
  1322. shallow water to Esthar. No need to go there if you haven't found all

  1889. bad news since they can't be morphed. Run away immediately if you
  1890. bump into any. If you're looking for Dragon Fangs for a Med Kit
  1891. (Treatment), this is the best place to hunt down Blue Dragons. Ditch
  1892. Rare Item while you're doing so, since it's the most common thing they
  1893. drop. You'll likely gain some Dragon Skin on the side (which can be
  1894. used to create a Glow Curtain), but unless you're willing to go as
  1895. far as 300, I suggest you simply mod the Carbuncle Card eventually
  1896. to obtain three Glow Curtains (Auto-Reflect) right away, two of which
  1897. will be used to create a Monk's Code (Counter). If you value your
  1898. Carbuncle Card too much despite the fact that you can get it back,

  1992. - It's highly recommended that you use the hidden save sphere here.
  1993. Don't forget that the fixed encounters will disappear after you kill
  1994. Ultima Weapon. For this reason, some people prefer to ignore Ultima Weapon
  1995. altogether, and get Eden in Disc 4. This way, one would still have
  1996. access to the fastest source for Curse Spikes, and, thus, be able to
  1997. create Luck Ups with the least amount of effort - relatively speaking.
  1998. Maxing out a character's Luck, however, is a project that's well beyond
  1999. my limits, so I won't be bringing it up again.

  2002. - 100 AP
  2003. - I don't need to remind you to Draw Eden, but I'll do it anyway.
  2004. - The only thing you have to worry about is Light Pillar (9999 pod to
  2005. a single character).
  2006.
  2007. - GFAbl Med-RF will be crucial, so shoot for that first. For starters,
  2008. you can use it to turn Dark Matter into a Luck-J Scroll, as mentioned
  2009. (gave this one to Eden).
  2010. - Devour should be put to use immediately, as it's generally a very
  2011. effective method to take out weak enemies that are troublesome to morph.
  2012.
  2013.
  2014. - For a change of pace, we're going to finish the deal with the Triple
  2015. Triad rules now. Our goal is to abolish all rules except Open in all
  2016. regions.
  2017. × As already mentioned, you really don't need to do this if you feel
  2018. it's too much trouble. The only one that will impact stat-boosting is
  2019. Centra (and Trabia if you're boosting Speed), so you should at least
  2020. do that one.
  2021. - Right, to begin the final process go "pick up" whichever rule you
  2022. deleted in space. Here's what some regions had in my game.
  2023.
  2024. Galbadia | Same, Open
  2025. FH | Elemental, Open
  2026. Centra | Same / Plus, Random
  2027. Esthar | Elemental, Same Wall
  2028.
  2029. - Since I got rid of Elemental in space, I went to FH and challenged
  2030. Martine. Nothing more to it. Then, I flew to Lunar Gate and challenged
  2031. the girl inside the station (Former Lunar-Side Base Personnel). The
  2032. rest is just flying back and forth between FH and the station (and,
  2033. naturally, quite a bit of soft-resetting).
  2034. - Don't forget that Same Wall will be hidden if the Same rule isn't
  2035. present. You can still abolish (or spread) it, though.
  2036. - Also, if you're carrying rules that won't prompt mixing in another
  2037. region but you want to pick up that region's rules, you have to start
  2038. a bunch of games to do so.
  2039.
  2040. - My next target was Esthar. Go pick up Same in Timber. When you leave
  2041. the Airstation, follow the northern path to find the Presidential Palace.
  2042. Use the hidden save point east before approaching it. The first guard
  2043. you see (in front of the building, not inside) should be willing to
  2044. play. You know the rest.
  2045.
  2046. - Next up is Centra. After picking up Elemental at FH once again, head
  2047. to Winhill. Enter it from the right side and you should see the SeeD
  2048. dropouts right nearby. If you find yourself in the town square instead,
  2049. you chose the wrong side. In any case, only the mercenary in the blue
  2050. uniform will play.
  2051.
  2052. - We're almost there. Here's what you should do: Spread Elemental in
  2053. Balamb. Abolish Elemental in FH (played with 'Familiar Face #3'). Abolish
  2054. Same in Galbadia (played with the guard with the cat in Timber). Delete
  2055. Balamb's rules, and then spread Open.
  2056. - In case you forgot, you can wipe out any and all rules in Balamb by
  2057. playing with the crouching man at the harbor.
  2058. - And finally, play a quick game in every region to see if you missed
  2059. anything - or not see it if it's a hidden Same Wall in which case you'll
  2060. be asked to mix rules in the next region you play that doesn't have Same Wall.
  2061. - If, for some reason, you wish to play with rules other than Open, go
  2062. pay a visit to the Queen of Cards, and she'll throw in a new rule for
  2063. 30 000 Gil. She will move to a different region every time you lose a
  2064. Level 8, 9, or 10 card to her, but I've no details to offer you regarding
  2065. the pattern by which she moves around.
  2066.
  2067. Cards: Alexander (Piet) \\\ Esthar- Abadan Plains (lifepod landing site) ||
  2068. - This place can be a bit tedious to find since it's not visible on
  2069. the world map, and the location seems to vary slightly from game to
  2070. game. In any case, fly southwest from Tears' Point and run around the
  2071. tip of the peninsula. The pod is around there somewhere.
  2072.
  2073. Cards: Rinoa (General Caraway) \\\ Deling City- Caraway's Mansion ||
  2074. - Caraway won't use the Rinoa card until you've "given" the Ifrit Card
  2075. to him.
  2076.
  2077. Cards: Ifrit (Martine) \\\ FH- Sun Panel ||
  2078. - Re-acquire your Ifrit card here if you got the Rinoa card.
  2079.
  2080. Items: X-Potion, Mega-Potion, Elixir \\\ Dollet- Town Square ||
  2081. - Finish the bone hunt side quest if you chose to ignore it on the
  2082. previous Discs.
  2083.
  2084. \\\ Dollet Pub ||
  2085. - In order to progress with the Queen of Cards side quest, lose a card
  2086. listed below (if you haven't already). Watch out for nasty trade rules,
  2087. and make sure she's heading for Balamb after losing (or Dollet if she's
  2088. already in Balamb).
  2089.
  2090. MiniMog -> Kiros
  2091. Sacred -> Irvine
  2092. Chicobo -> Chubby Chocobo
  2093. Alexander -> Doomtrain
  2094. Doomtrain -> Phoenix
  2095.
  2096. \\\ Dollet- Residence ||
  2097. Cards: MiniMog / Sacred / Chicobo / Alexander / Doomtrain (Queen's son)
  2098. - As always, you can reclaim these cards from the boy once the Queen's
  2099. father has used them to design the new card.
  2100.
  2101. Cards: Irvine (Flo) \\\ FH- Mayor's Residence ||
  2102.
  2103. Cards: Chubby Chocobo (guy sitting on a bench) \\\ B-Garden- Hall ||
  2104. - Look for this student in the eastern hall.
  2105.
  2106. Cards: Doomtrain (bartender) \\\ Timber Pub ||
  2107.
  2108.
  2109. Cards: Phoenix (Presidential Aide) \\\ Presidential Palace- Hall ||
  2110. - Approach the couch here, and Dr. Odine should walk by.
  2111.
  2112. Cards: Squall (Laguna) \\\ Presidential Palace- Office ||
  2113.
  2114. Cards: Ward (Dr. Odine) \\\ Dr. Odine's Laboratory- Lab ||
  2115. - After acquiring Ward, the only cards missing from my collection were
  2116. Shiva and Odin.
  2117.
  2118. \\\ Esthar- Abadan Plains ||
  2119. - Approach Lunatic Pandora with the Ragnarök.
  2120. - Once you're inside the Pandora, immediately head back inside the
  2121. Ragnarök or you'll have to fight Fuujin & Raijin. Tell Quistis you're
  2122. 'ready to go' so you can leave. Don't start exploring the place yet -
  2123. unless you know what you're doing.
  2124.
  2125.
  2126. \\\ Trabia- Winter Island ||
  2127. Lost & Found: 6× North Winds / 1× / 2× Silver Mails (Snow Lion L30)
  2128. - The best place to look for Snow Lions would be the same mountain
  2129. range where you can encounter Blue Dragons. Try to get 6 Silver Mails
  2130. if you can. Five of them will be used to create a Gold Armor. You can
  2131. also get one through Angelo Search.
  2132.
  2133. \\\ B-Garden- Training Center ||
  2134. Lost & Found: 6× Sleep Powder / 6× Silence Powder / 8× Poison Powder(Grat L30)
  2135. - Sleep will occasionally hit Cactuars so stock up on Sleep Powder,
  2136. if you need them to stay still while you bomb them with LV Up (see below).
  2137.
  2138. \\\ Esthar- Cactuar Island ||
  2139. Lost & Found: 2 - 4× Cactus Thorns / Jet Engine (Cactuar L30)
  2140. - If you're collecting items, try to score yourself a Jet Engine
  2141. (Spd+20%) and a full stock of Cactus Thorns for a Hundred Needles
  2142. (Return Damage).
  2143.
  2144. Devour: Vit +1 (Adamantoise L30) \\\ Esthar- Talle Mountains ||
  2145. - In order to add a Healing Ring (Recovery) to your collection, you'll
  2146. need a hundred Whispers (stolen from Adamantoises). You might as well
  2147. eat them up while you're at it. You can also get it through Angelo
  2148. Search, though the odds are low.
  2149.
  2150. - It's finally time to create stat-boost items. First, you'll need as
  2151. much Gil as you can get. In case you forgot, you're supposed to buy
  2152. Tents and Cottages (or just Cottages), refine them into Mega-Potions,
  2153. and sell them. You'll get 20 mil in 15 minutes.
  2154. - Once you have the cash, check 'Esthar Shop!!!' (ie. Johnny's Shop)
  2155. for the items listed below.
  2156.
  2157. 10 Giant's Rings -> Gaea's Ring -> HP Up (mHP +10) | 150k
  2158. 100 Power Wrists -> 10 Hyper Wrists -> Str Up (Str +1) | 1,5m
  2159. 100 Force Armlets -> 10 Magic Armlets -> Spr Up (Spr +1) | 1,5m
  2160. 100 Hypno Crowns -> 10 Royal Crowns -> Mag Up (Mag +1) | 1,5m
  2161.
  2162. - I myself prefer to start with HP, since you only need about
  2163. 90 000 000 Gil to boost a single character's HP to decent numbers.
  2164. Since I'm using Holy / Meteor in conjunction with my HP, I'll need a
  2165. base HP value of 6200. That's roughly 570 HP Ups for Squall, fewer for
  2166. the other character I'm using (Selphie, Zell).
  2167. - Next, Squall's Strength (I choose to ignore the other characters
  2168. here even though Zell's Duel has quite a bit of potential). Since
  2169. I'm using Meteor in conjunction with my Str, I'll need a base Str
  2170. value of 161. That's 140 Str Ups for me. Notice that the base Str
  2171. value you see when you're using a Str Up doesn't include the bonus
  2172. the character gains from his or her weapon.
  2173. - The fastest method to gain Str Ups is actually modding the Eden Card
  2174. and winning it back from eg. Joker (on Disc 4), but I prefer to have
  2175. Squall beefed up for the final confrontation with Seifer.
  2176. - Spirit should be boosted to approximately 175. At this point,
  2177. Full-Life will be more than enough to reach 255, but you'll need
  2178. the extra few points, as you may end up using the spell occasionally.
  2179. Reflect isn't a bad choice either. Might as well fix yourself up with
  2180. some Moon Curtains (Auto-Shell).
  2181. - I don't bother boosting Magic.
  2182. - The only one left is Vitality. This one will have to wait until Disc 4,
  2183. where we'll mod the Minotaur Card and win it back from Joker (you did
  2184. finish the CC Group side quest, didn't you? Otherwise, he won't play
  2185. with the "unique" cards). The alternative methods are much more
  2186. time-consuming.
  2187.
  2188. - Collectors should stick with IC a little longer, so you can cook up
  2189. items such as a Doc's Code (Med Data) and a Phoenix Spirit (Revive).
  2190.
  2191.
  2192. \\\ Lunatic Pandora ||
  2193. Lost & Found: 3× - 6× Str Ups (Raijin 3), 1× - 4× Laser Cannons
  2194. (Mobile Type 8), Hero / Holy War (Seifer 4)
  2195. Theft: 2× Megalixirs (Fuujin 2), 2× - 4× Laser Cannons (Mobile Type 8),
  2196. 2× / 4× Vit Ups (Left Probe), 2× / 4× Str Ups (Right Probe),
  2197. Hero / Holy War (Seifer 4)
  2198. Bosses: Fuujin 2 & Raijin 3, Mobile Type 8 (+Left Probe & Right Probe),
  2199. Seifer 4
  2200. - If nothing happens when you fly into Lunatic Pandora (ie. you can't
  2201. enter), you still probably have some unfinished story events in Esthar
  2202. (don't forget about the stupid f*cking couch).
  2203.
  2204. [Boss]
  2205.
  2206. - Assuming you cleaned the place with Zell, there shouldn't be much
  2207. of interest here. Of course, this time, Mobile Type 8 can actually be
  2208. engaged. That's elevator number 1 in case you forgot.
  2209.
  2210. [Boss]
  2211. - Corona: cHP - 1 \ all.
  2212. - Megido Flame: ~1500 pod \ all. Halve with Shell.
  2213.
  2214. - Proceed *only* if you're certain that you're ready for Time Compression.
  2215. What this basically means is that you won't be able to enter any towns
  2216. (on Disc 4).
  2217.
  2218. [Boss]
  2219. - If you had Odin, he would appear at the beginning of the battle
  2220. and get replaced by Gilgamesh.
  2221.
  2222. - That's all for Disc 3.
  2223. 175:29 (87:50 on Disc 3 alone), 8 xp gained, S-Lv7, 16 593 599 Gil
  2224. 4 346 492 steps, 1124 battles, 869 won, 255 escaped
  2225.
  2226.
  2227.
  2228. ---- Disc 4 ----
  2229.
  2230. Party: Squall Lv7 (6500xp), Selphie Lv8 (7000xp), Zell Lv8 (7000xp),
  2231. Quistis Lv8 (7500xp) Irvine Lv13 (12 404xp), [Rinoa] Lv11 (10 000xp)
  2232.
  2233. \\\ Lunatic Pandora ||
  2234. Theft: Samantha Soul (Adel), 8× Megalixirs (Rinoa)
  2235. Boss: Adel (& Rinoa)
  2236. - You can't exit the Pandora at this stage. Just climb up the new path
  2237. in the area where you fought Mobile Type 8.
  2238.
  2239. [Boss]
  2240. - Rinoa's death will result in a game over.
  2241.
  2242. \\\ Commencement Room ||
  2243. Bosses: 6× "Sorceress" 1s, 4× "Sorceress" 2s, "Sorceress" 3
  2244.
  2245. [Boss]
  2246. - At most, you'll face two Sorceresses at a time
  2247.
  2248. Draw: Triple \\\ Wilderness ||
  2249. - The portals next to the chain will take you back to the "real" world.
  2250. South-most -> Galbadia- Wilburn Hill
  2251. Middle -> Centra- Serengetti Plains
  2252. North-most -> Esthar- Grandidi Forest
  2253.
  2254. - The Ragnarök has wandered off into the Kashkabald Desert and you need
  2255. to use a chocobo in order to retrieve it.
  2256. - Don't miss the fourth portal north from the Ragnarök. Simply go through
  2257. it once to active it.
  2258. - Trophy note: If you've used No Encounters too much, you won't get to
  2259. 1000 kills without grinding. The best spot is Wilburn Hill near Deling
  2260. City. Just hug the base of the cliffs and stay in the darker area. There
  2261. are three encounters there: 3x Geezard, 2x Geezard & Funguar, 2x Funguar.
  2262. Once you're done, your level should be high enough to get to SeeD rank S
  2263. by taking the tests. That's two stones with one bird.
  2264.
  2265. Cards: Odin; Shiva, etc. \\\ Ragnarök ||
  2266. - Once you explore the Ragnarök, Xu should appear and tell you that the
  2267. CC Group managed to avoid getting annihilated by the time distortion - that
  2268. is, if you finished the related side quest. All the members can be found
  2269. scattered about in your ship, and, as Xu mentions, you can challenge
  2270. Quistis by taking her into the Airlock.
  2271. - The cards you may encounter here include every single card in the game
  2272. (except for that one little Level 5 card). The twist with Level 8, 9 and
  2273. 10 cards is, however, that you can only have one of a specific card at a
  2274. time. If you want, for instance, more Eden Cards, you'll have to get rid
  2275. of it first (ie. mod it). The "unique" cards will always appear in the
  2276. order as seen in the Card menu, one at a time. The exceptions include
  2277. the cards the Queen's father created (Chubby Chocobo, Phoenix, Doomtrain,
  2278. Kiros, Irvine), which can only be (re-)acquired from the Goth Diamond
  2279. (the left one).
  2280. - Joker aka Man from Balamb will be on the ship regardless of whether or
  2281. not you finished the CC Group side quest. Naturally, he won't be using
  2282. any fancy cards if you didn't. In any case, his services include a
  2283. Junk Shop and an item shop.
  2284. - Once you've obtained every card in the game, a star will appear next
  2285. to the Card "link" in the main menu. You can still get it even if you
  2286. don't actually have a specific card anymore.
  2287.
  2288. - Different members use rules from different regions as shown below.
  2289. However if you abolished all the bogus rules on Disc 3, you'll notice
  2290. no difference (except maybe for the Trade Rule).
  2291. Jack: Balamb
  2292. Club: Dollet
  2293. Diamond (right): Trabia
  2294. Diamond (left): Trabia
  2295. Spade: Esthar
  2296. Heart (Xu): FH
  2297. Joker: Centra
  2298. King (Quistis): Lunar
  2299. Queen: N/A
  2300.
  2301. - The Queen's hanging out at the escape pod landing site where you
  2302. found Piet. If you're looking for a challenge, she's your lady in a
  2303. red dress. I've never been able to beat her.
  2304. - Some players will not use cards from certain levels (listed below).
  2305. Also, some members prefer not to use certain "unique" / rare cards
  2306. (even though they can), but I don't have the details on that.
  2307. Jack: L1, L2, L5, L7
  2308. Club: L1, L2, L4, L7
  2309. Diamond (left): L1, L2, L6
  2310. Diamond (right): L1, L2, L6
  2311. Spade: L1, L2, L5
  2312. Heart: L1, L2, L4
  2313. Joker: -
  2314. King: -
  2315. Queen: L8, L9, L10
  2316.
  2317. - New items I managed to obtain at this point: Accelerator (Auto-Haste),
  2318. Rocket Engine (Spd+40%), Monk's Code (Counter), Glow Curtain (Auto-Reflect),
  2319. Holy War, Holy War-Trial (10 Heroes), Knight's Code (Cover, 5 Holy Wars),
  2320. Steel Curtain (Auto-Protect, 20 Adamantines), Spd Up (5 Rocket Engines).
  2321. - As I mentioned before, now you can "easily" boost your Vitality by
  2322. modding the Minotaur Card, and winning it back from one of the CC
  2323. members. I myself prefer Joker due to his low skill level. When
  2324. Junctioned to Meltdown, you'll need a Base Vit of at least 180 or so.
  2325. I went for 185 just to be safe. Don't forget about those Steel Curtains.
  2326. - You can also create Spd Ups by modding the Irvine Card and reacquiring
  2327. it from the Goth Diamond, but I was already satisfied with the boost
  2328. from my Triple Junction.
  2329.
  2330.
  2331. \\\ Ultimecia Castle ||
  2332. - You'll be forced to split into two parties right away. Furthermore,
  2333. the following eight powers will be sealed inside the castle: Item,
  2334. Magic, GF, Draw, Command Ability, Limit Break, Resurrection, Save. Every
  2335. time you defeat a boss (excluding Omega), you can unlock one of these.
  2336. Technically, all the bosses are optional and can be taken out in any
  2337. order you want.
  2338. - Don't bother spreading your GF across all six characters. Just use
  2339. Junction Exchange whenever you switch.
  2340. - Notice that as long as your GF are sealed, you can't use Menu Abilities.
  2341.
  2342. Lost & Found: 1× / 2× Megalixirs (Sphinxara) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Hall ||
  2343. Theft: Elixir (Sphinxaur)
  2344. Boss(es): Sphinxaur & Sphinxara (+ Jelleye, Forbidden, Tri-Face) (separate
  2345. phases)
  2346.
  2347. [Boss]
  2348. - The only commands available are Attack and Mug.
  2349. - Sphinxara can use Magic Summon to call forth three enemies, but all
  2350. of them have an exceptional base xp value of 0.
  2351.
  2352. Lost & Found: Elem Atk (Trauma) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Art Gallery ||

  2356. and choose Vividarium (Garden), Intervigilium (Sleep) and Viator
  2357. (Messenger).

  2364.
  2365. [Boss]
  2366. - You'll likely need Meltdown, so make sure you've unlocked your Magic.
  2367.
  2368. - The Prison Key will simply be used to get out of the cell. You can
  2369. use it on the other door as well, but only from the other side when
  2370. coming from the Waterway (where you'll find the Rosetta Stone).
  2371.
  2372. \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Courtyard ||
  2373. - Examine the fountain to find the Treasure Vault Key. You can access
  2374. the Treasure Vault from the corridor before the Elevator Hall.
  2375.
  2376. \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Clock Tower ||
  2377. - Walk over to the strange object and examine it to obtain the Armory Key.
  2378. If it falls down, you can retrieve it at the Flood Gate.
  2379. - Ultimecia awaits beyond the tower (past the hidden save point), but
  2380. you'll likely want to unlock some more abilities.
  2381.
  2382. Lost & Found: Rocket Engine (Tri-Point) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Wine Cellar ||

  2404.
  2405. Lost & Found: Elem Guard (Krysta) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Terrace ||
  2406. Draw: Carbuncle GF (Krysta)
  2407. Boss: Krysta
  2408. - In order to get here, have your secondary party hit the lever at the
  2409. Grand Hall (ie. walk into the Party Switch Point) so that your main
  2410. party can get across the chandelier.
  2411.
  2412. [Boss]
  2413.
  2414. - At this point you should have enough unlocked abilities to take on
  2415. Omega. Save and prepare at the Clock Tower, then go switch the party
  2416. at the Courtyard. The other group now needs to ring the bell in the
  2417. Stairway Hall near the Art Gallery. Quickly switch back, run into the
  2418. Chapel and perform any final tweaks.
  2419.
  2420. Lost & Found: Three Stars (Omega Weapon) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Chapel ||
  2421. Boss: Omega Weapon
  2422.
  2423. [Boss]
  2424. - Omega is always at Level 100 (1 161 000 HP). (not on PS4)
  2425. - Assuming your Luck is high enough, you can ignore his physical attacks.
  2426. - The first thing he'll cast is LV5 Death, and that's the only time he'll
  2427. use it. After that begins the following cycle (excluding physical attacks,
  2428. which appear without a solid pattern - as always):
  2429. 1. Meteor
  2430. 2. Megido Flame
  2431. 3. Gravija
  2432. 4. Terra Break
  2433. 5. Ultima

  2437. - Here's what I did after each specific attack:
  2438.
  2439. LV5 Death
  2440. - Cast Meltdown
  2441. - Attack with Squall
  2442.
  2443. First Meteor
  2444. - Attack with Squall
  2445. - Heal with a Mega-Potion
  2446. - Cast Meltdown again if the first one didn't work
  2447.
  2448. Megido Flame (9998 pod to all characters)
  2449.
  2450. Gravija
  2451. - Squall uses a Megaelixir and then attacks if he gets any additional turns.
  2452. - Selphie and Zell use Defend.
  2453.
  2454. Terra Break (12 hits at 4000 pod each, 2000 with Protect, 0 with Defend)
  2455. - Attack with Squall if he's alive
  2456. - Phoenix Down on Squall if he dies
  2457.
  2458. Ultima
  2459. - Attack with Squall
  2460.
  2461. Light Pillar
  2462. - Phoenix Down on the fallen character
  2463. - Attack with Squall if he's alive
  2464.
  2465. Second Meteor and any subsequent Meteors
  2466. - Megaelixir, or Full-Cure if Selphie's in critical condition
  2467. - Attack with Squall
  2468.
  2469. Megido Flame
  2470. - Repeat
  2471.
  2472. - I had 12 Megaelixirs and ended up using 7. You can always opt to mod
  2473. the Bahamut card into 100 Megalixirs.
  2474. - After your victory, a new section called the Proof of Omega will be
  2475. added into the Information menu in the Tutorial. Strangely enough, if
  2476. you go ring the bell now, the timer will still appear.
  2477.
  2478. Lost & Found: Status Guard (Tiamat) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Clock Tower ||
  2479. Draw: Eden GF (Tiamat)
  2480. Boss: Tiamat
  2481. - In order to find Tiamat, climb up the tower and jump on the swinging bell.
  2482.
  2483. [Boss]
  2484.
  2485. - If you don't care about the Rosetta Stone, you can just head to the
  2486. final boss.
  2487.
  2488. \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Elevator Hall ||
  2489. - Put all the girls in the same party and have them standby on the
  2490. left Switch Point. The guys should make their way to the right Switch
  2491. Point (by going through the Art Gallery etc.). This should enable
  2492. you to access the Storage Room.
  2493.
  2494. \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Storage Room ||
  2495. - The Floodgate Key can be found lying around here. You can use it to
  2496. unlock the lever at the Flood Gate, near the corridor leading into the
  2497. prison cell. Don't forget to use the lever as well.
  2498.
  2499. \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Passageway ||
  2500. - This is the passageway east from the Courtyard. The gates can be opened
  2501. by molesting the organ at the Chapel; you'll need to hit all the keys
  2502. at once. Unfortunately, you won't be directly informed whether you got
  2503. it right or not, so you may end up running back and forth a few times.
  2504.
  2505. Item: Rosetta Stone \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Waterway ||
  2506.
  2507. Draw: Apocalypse (Ultimecia 4) \\\ Ultimecia Castle- Master Room ||
  2508. Boss(es): Ultimecia 1, Griever, Ultimecia 2 (+ n× Helixes),
  2509. Ultimecia 3 (+ Ultimecia 4) (separate phases)
  2510. - Before going through the door, fill up your spell inventory with
  2511. anything. This way, you're less likely to lose anything vital when
  2512. Griever or Ultimecia 3 blows away your magic.
  2513.
  2514. [Boss]
  2515. - Your party may vary.
  2516. - Dead characters will quickly be removed from the battle completely,
  2517. so revive the ones you want to keep.
  2518. - At most, you'll face two Helixes at a time.
