Okay first off I'd take a couple of seconds to have a sensible chuckle at the name, then after giving the person who sent the ahelp a tyvm for pointing it out to me, I'd shoot the guy an adminpm asking if it's his first time here.

Let's say he says yeah, it's his first time, maybe he's used to LRP servers and was just here to test the waters. That's fine. Best case scenario really. I have a chat with the guy, explain the rules and the general way things go, how we're HRP and we go as close to realism as we can get in 2D spess, then once I'm sure he's on board, I offer to change his name to something more sensible and send him on his merry way.

Next option, he replies, he says he doesn't give two solitary youknowwhats and proceeds to try and shit up the round. At this point it's clear what their intentions are, so wind them, have a chat with them. Same as before, really. At this point the guy can either listen or ghost and quit, sure. If he does the latter, put a warning on their account. Former, though see if we can talk some sense into them. If not, then, well, their loss. If I'm convinced they're only here to cause problems, it's going to have to be a temp ban with a friendly link to our server rules.
And the last one I can think of right now, is being completely ignored. Bad for me. Let's say they don't respond at all and carry on walking. Do they look like they know what they're doing? If not, maybe they're new and figuring things out. Saw youtube vids and thought this was how all servers were, that's fair. May have to wind and explain, hopefully see if they'll respond to messages.
If they're not responding and making a beeline for griefing tools/clearly know what they're doing, then the guy is likely here for that purpose only. Same process as the guy on point number 2: Wind, talk, if they ghost, warn. If they just.. Lay there being silent, I guess wait? Honestly at this point I'd probably ask about the process here since we've got an eerie silent person who isn't responding to me, but is still there.

Alright. If a player ignores you during PM's, PM them three - five times then wind them, if they continue to ignore you even when winded, you are free to boot them, if they come back and continue, you are more than free to tempban, usually a day will do it.

Right, so this person sent a message. Since I'm idling in the lobby it shouldn't be too much trouble to stop being lazy and actually get observing, can take a look at exactly what's going on. Shoot a message back to the one who sent the ahelp and ask for a few details. Leave out questions like "who" etc, leading questions, so I can get them to answer in their own words. Sometimes people realise they're being silly when they have to explain why they're upset (rare, oh so rare).

Can't do much until I have some deets. Zooming over to the character/body of the fellow who sent the ahelp and peering through their VV logs while they formulate an answer would be a good shout.

"When sending adminhelps, be CLEAR and CONCISE - it makes things a lot easier for us to deal with. Try to include character names if possible."

The person that is being ahelped is a scientist who's running around with an AEG, shooting the crew with little to no escalation RP, it seems the original ahelper does not know what the meaning of metagaming is.

You'd see some attack logs from the scientist, the name is Yellow, marking them as an antagonist.  What is your next step?

Right, so it's not that unusual that a scientist would be printing and using guns if they're an antag, but the lack of RP is concerning. If the guy isn't currently engaged with someone, shooty-style, I'd shoot them an adminpm on the spot and ask what's going on, talk about the gun use and ask them to explain how they got to this point. Need to breach the subject of the supposed lack of RP and escalation leading up to the running-through-corridors-merking-people gimmick they appear to be going for.

Ah, right so if he's currently in the middle of gunning someone down it'd be a winding just to get their attention and to pull their attention away from all the murdering. I'd do the same if people on the other side of the shooty-fence don't realise mods are involved and carry on shooting back. Happy to unwind them once everyone is settled and willing to talk about it properly.

So the "exterminator" thing is.. Pretty weak, and doesn't really mesh well with how the rules are set up for the server. I'd direct them to https://aurorastation.org/rules.html, pointing specifically to the "antagonists and conflicts" section. I'd emphasise to him in adminpms about the 'driving a story' and 'no ganking' points, see if we can't come to some agreement in terms of how the conflict should be playing out. As for the dirty humies, liggers and catbeast comment that's 90% likely to be banter so often seen in OOC and discord in the first place so I won't be bothered by it.

How good the meme song is or isn't won't have any bearing, even though I'm sure it's lovely.

Okay that's pretty rude. It's not exactly something worth warning for, I don't think. I'd be writing up a note anyway just for the whole situation, since it's noteworthy to begin with. I'd add a little thing about the attitude, too.

I'd double check with them that they understand where they've gone wrong before unwinding.

No point upsetting them further, then. Test of how much they listened, will unwind and see where it goes. I'd like to see how they take the going crazy shooting people angle and de-escalate it appropriately.

So, shooting at first is fine, because suddenly stopping would be poor RP. So they run away and think of a new plan. Good boy, leave them be. The notes are in and the attitude is noted but otherwise they listened and got back to it.

If they go back to being awful, then another winding and this time explain to them that they're being warned. Rules have been provided, I've done what I can to be accommodating and they need to take a deep breath and focus instead on how others feel about being removed from the game with no escalation.

If they carry on being terrible after that I'd have to remove them from the game temporarily. Clearly they're not in the right mindset to play right now, what with being easily irritated. So some time to cool down would be prudent. Send them the basic stuff, point them where they need to go if they want to contest it. I would toy with the idea of a temporary antag ban (if that's possible?)

Right, that was tragic in a not-very-sad way. I'd like to think that since I'm a ghost I'd be watching, would like to catch them before killing anyone, but in this case I didn't catch it, they're gone.

So they need banning. I realise now that I haven't checked any notes and warns that may already be on this guy's account, so there may have been something there that would affect how I handled this. For now, they need suspending from the server. Given their poor attitude and abysmal way of handling any of this I'd call it for 3 months.

If the people in medical are sitting around wondering wtf and clearly not happy with what just happened (don't blame them), I would like to talk to an admin and see if we can get them fixed up, since it won't affect roleplay much at all if that zero-roleplay encounter suddenly didn't happen.

Alright, next scenario.
The round is crossfire, Mercs and Raiders are at a standoff by the main lifts, guns aimed before a miner comes up with a bomb from the Mercenaries ship, the miner primes it and throws it to the middle of the group, killing all of the antags or severely crippling them and it vents that area of the station. What do you do?
You're spammed with nearly four ahelps ranging from "Yo, we got ganked hard" to "Oh my god! What the f*ck! Ban that miner now!"

So it's fairly obvious what happened, but I'd message people back with a request for more info since that's basic aheltiquette, then check to see if the miner has any notes and logs and such. Shoot them an adminpm and ask what happened on their end. It could be that they had a huge roleplay with other people leading up to this, but a miner doing that in the first place is uncharacteristic so I'd like their story.

So there's no indepth storyline here. At least the guy is friendly enough, if a little bomb-happy. I'd first of all ask why they pick miner if they find the job boring, if they'd rather "help sec" perhaps playing a security character would be better for them. An explanation that what they did simply isn't acceptable, mention that we had trouble with explosives not too long ago and, while it's a separate incident, it certainly doesn't help this latest stunt.

Meanwhile, I'd make sure the antags are aware that I'm handling the issue. Hopefully they understand and will be patient while I look into it. May need to ask another staff member to give me a hand since there are so many people.

Right he needs winding asap then. I can see how useful that tool can be if these issues are even vaguely common. So at this point he's just validhunting, he's not even in it for the reason he gave originally if sec are at his throat IC. It's obvious at this point he didn't learn much from the ban a couple of weeks ago, too, so at the very least he needs removing from the round. I'd reinstate the ban, for longer this time, with the usual explanations of where they can go if they wish to appeal and such.

Now, this is where I need to ask a question regarding how possible things are. I've seen certain situations being "reset", like the occasional person having wound removed/being revived etc after self-antag memery, but I don't know how easily it could be done in this situation, especially since I've never seen anything done like that to this scale. Since pretty much all sides involved (miner excluded probably) seem to be in favour of getting right back to it, is this a possible outcome? I trust the vast majority of our players, certainly those who play often enough to end up either merc/raider to sit and wait while things are put back, sans maybe a floor in some places due to bomb.

I believe it depends on the admin you ask, some admins will revive all the antags and make an announcement saying "void" but the station would still need to be fixed, so it's uncommon. It really depends on how long ago it happened and the scale of it.

Suddenly I don't like new players so much. So to prevent the succ (and any mechanical advantages that would impart) I'd wind them. They obviously have some knowledge of the game so I don't think I'll have to explain exactly what's going on here.

Then, explain that trial or not, I'm here to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves while sticking to the server rules, anyone else would say the same thing. If they're happy to be unwinded and enjoy good succ RP then I'll be happy to do so and see them on their way. If they're still reacting poorly to the fact that I'm a trial and completely unwilling to listen to a word I say, I'd rather poke a fullmod or admin if they're available and see if they can have a chat. I don't want to be heavy-handed with a new player and turn them off ever come back to the server if I can help it.

Because honestly in terms of how the server is administrated and moderated I'm happy as Larry. People who do that sort of stuff are universally friendly and things are handled transparently and all that. I love it.
I wish I had the patience to help out with coding, as I'd love to see some changes done in Research, but I'm more of a hopeless ideas guy in that regard. Though I hear mumblings of science overhauls so I'm mostly just on the edge of my seat now.
Maybe the option to have multiple AIs, because that would be fun.
