The Legend of Zelda 2D Relay race May 2019 - Commentary Information


Setting up commentary.

We will be using the Relay discord for commentary, so access shouldn't be a problem. If you are running or commentating a game and do not have the relevant roles, let one of the organizers know, or you won't be able to use voice chat during the event.

We will have several channels available:
The General channel is for use by anyone for any reason.
The Waiting room can be accessed by anyone with the runner/commentary role. This channel is meant to move towards before you go live so an organizer can move you into live when the time comes.
The Live channel can only be accessed with organizer permission/move, so if you think you need to be in one of them let us know, but for the most part we'll handle the moving around for these.
When in the Live channel you may be muted if your game/run has not started yet, and then unmuted at the relevant time (usually a minute or so before the end). You will be warned about this before it happens so make sure you're paying attention.

During the event.

When a run that you are running/commentating for is coming up, there will be someone organizing the setup in the Setup channel, and so you can join there to make sure you can see the runner's feed, your mic is being heard correctly, and everything is ready to go.
When the changeover comes up, you will be moved into the Live channel and muted until the run is about to start, at which point you will be able to talk freely. Please respect that there may be multiple games going on at once, and as such commentary will most likely need to be focusing on several different things in a short space of time. Some of you may already have done something like this before, but in general, if there's a lot going on, try to keep the explanations and focus as short as possible on a single thing so that the commentary can flow back and forth as needed.


Watching the runners.

To be able to commentate without added Twitch's delay, you will be able to watch the runners raw game feeds over the runners channel. We strongly advice commentating based on that feed and not the feed of the restream on the BSG channel
