  1. Added Value
  2. Sports brands play a large part in today’s society. I’m going to be comparing a Adidas advert containing normal people and a Under Armour advert containing a celebrity.
  3. The Adidas advert is targeted towards normal people who are just looking to get fit. The advert shows regular people running down the street with other people staring at them. The advert’s slogan is “Runners. Yeah, we’re different.” which is written across the middle of it. The advert uses that slogan as the people in it are staring at the runners because they look different from everyone else.
  4. In addition the advert shows the Adidas logo which is located in the top left corner of the advert so people know which company it is for. The Adidas logo is famous due to the three stripes in it with Adidas written under it. The three stripes represent the stripes down the side of all their products. The advert also has the Adidas website address in the top left corner just under the logo so people know where to buy their products. Adidas purposely used normal people instead of celebrities so it will have more of an appeal to regular people.
  5. Everyone in the advert is noticeably wearing Adidas clothing as you can see the three stripes down the sides of their clothes. The Adidas advert does not contain very many bright colours. The picture was taken in a street that looks like it is not taken care of, considering the roads and pavements are cracked and there are snapped off bits of trees and leaves on the ground. This also makes it appeal more to regular people.
  6. The Under Armour advert is targeted towards people who take spots a little more seriously. The advert shows the world’s number one tennis player wearing the under armour clothes and shoes standing on top of a standing on the roof off a building so you can see out over the city of London. The advert has lots of famous landmarks in the background including the London Eye and Wembley Stadium.
  7. The advert’s slogan is “I WILL.” the slogan is to represent the passion and determination the athletes put into their sport, and to let you know that if you show the same amount of passion and determination you might be as good them one day. Under Armour only has a small version of their logo in the bottom right corner, that is not a very good idea. If people do not already know what the company is, they will not be able to identify it so it will be very difficult for them to find and buy the products. Normally companies will link their website somewhere on the advert so people will be able to visit the site easily or find a store location, but Under Armour has not done this.

  10. Under Armour have made the edges of the advert dull and the middle of the advert very bright and colourful, this will attract people to look at the middle so they will see the Under Armour products and the Slogan. The advert is made to look like you are seeing it through the camera lens. Andy Murray is holding a tennis racket and ball small area of grass they put on the roof of the building. It looks like he is getting ready to hit the hit the ball off the roof out into the city.
  11. In conclusion I think that the Under Armour advert looks better than the Adidas one, but Adidas have made it easier to find their products afterwards. The Under Armour advert shows a celebrity endorsing their product which will make it appeal to more people. The picture for the advert was also taken in a known location and you can identify the landmarks in the background, the only downside is they have made it difficult the find the products unless you already knew about them before seeing the advert as they don’t like their website or show the brands name anywhere on it. On the other hand the Adidas advert is pretty dull and contains normal people, but their slogan is very good and works well with the products they are trying to sell.
