I got a flu-like viral infection a little over a week ago, and even now that that's technically over, it affected my kidneys and/or liver and so my blood has a toxic buildup, and I'm hitting fever spikes and have no energy and just... I'm honestly worried that it's going to spin into something more serious. And Caitlin, you have been very cool in my book. Honestly the only thing I remember you saying during that whole "Let's everyone gang up on bashing Quentin" was that I'm "not that bad", which was at least sort of taking up for me,so we cool.”

T'Challa is trying to give you an alternative perspective. You can take it or leave it, but you're going to continue to have issues if you don't listen to what people are saying around you. That's not really going to kill me in the long run since it IS your character, but I'm not making fun or being an ass to you. I'm telling you the fact of what actually happened.

T'Challa says, “But that doesn't give you immunity to say whatever you want to start off with and nobody's allowed to say anything after. That's just not going to be fair, no matter how many times you say you don't understand what you did wrong.”
T'Challa says, “Cus ultimately, you didn't do anything wrong. And nobody else did either.”
T'Challa says, “But again, and I need to repeat this, if you are upset about it, or if you're sick or something, or just aren't in the mood, that's cool. But understand how your own behavior affects everyone else's behavior around you.”

Quentin Quire says, “Dude, saying your country doesn't sound like a fun place to visit because it doesn't have Netflix is a far cry from saying something like T'Challa is a shit character and should feel like shit and everyone should hate on him. It's not even insulting. It's less scathing than most travel reviews. It wasn't "banter", just a random offhanded comment/opinion. It was also literally the last thing I said, while watching other people just talk smack about me for another ten to fifteen minutes. I understand what you're saying. I do. But there is such a thing as disproportionate response.”

T'Challa says, “But you are suggesting that someone else's feelings are invalid because you didn't mean anything by it and you don't see it to be the same as what happened to you.”
Quentin Quire says, “Nine times out of ten, the only thing I do in this room is wave and greet people, and this has been ongoing to the pointwhere today was just kind of where, between illness and frayed emotions and ongoing issues with this, it just hit a pressure point.”

T'Challa says, “The facts of it are not really useful. Because Quire is -- rightly -- not in the correct frame of mind to deal with OIC constant criticism of his character.”
T'Challa says, “Like, he has a right to be upset about that.”
Wolfsbane says, “Ultimately people just need to remember we are not our characters. Sometimes we mess around, sometimes we act OOC pretending to be IC (I guess that's OIC?) and it's easy for people to be passive-aggressive and hide behind excuses like "Oh, I didn't /really/ mean that, I was just joking and why can't you figure that out?" but it shouldn't be used as a cover to be nasty to anyone, and if anything feels like it's going to far, a request to stop should be honored.”

T'Challa's point is that it never would have started had he not mentioned something negative about Wakanda. Which got him fired back at. It's important that that behavior stop as well, so that we can go forward as a playerbase and make sure everyone understands that QQ is not his character and that he shouldn't really be made fun of to that degree, because it is bullying. But the initial behavior HAS to stop as well.

T'Challa says, “Otherwise people will continue bumbling in unknowingly -- and it's not their job to determine that it's only fair to say that Quentin Quire can't afford Netflix, or only is allowed to make Netflix-based jokes or something to uphold some sense of 'fair balance.'”

Quentin Quire says, “It really isn't. Like I said, I know nobody means any harm by it. Literally, it's just been a constant thing for me when I log in on here. As stated previously, it's a large part of why I've been logging on less, since I've been sick (which has me drained of all energy and depressed), but in general terms it isn't usually a big deal.”
