I'm forced by some vague interdimensional being to close my eyes, hold my breath, and perform a set, repetitive sequence of antisymmetric head gestures, teeth grinding, swallowing, and other actions synched to a long sound effect. I transcribed part of the sound as "hmmmschangougrah" but it goes on for a lot longer than that. By antisymmetric I mean that if part of the compulsion is to turn my head to the left and then back, it needs to be paired with the next part which is turning my head to the right and then back. It ends when I gasp a breath because my breathe reflex overpowers the... being.
After I used all the ether up I went inside and continued to get lesser compulsions to do portions of this sequence whenever I thought of telling anyone else about it or while doing various repetitive tasks like handwashing that produce a noise. There was also a strong sense of deja vu, of once in awhile having been forced to perform this sequence during the past year as well as long ago, as well as a feeling that this compulsion was an incredibly important clue to my mental health situation. It felt like the being was trying to prevent me from remembering the compulsion by any means necessary. The effects had faded by the time I woke up the next morning.
I felt that since the substance was slowing my thoughts down I could examine them more clearly, but I was also battling against the amnesiac effects of it. Another insight: I sometimes tell people I never get angry, only depressed/irritated/frustrated, but with the ether I could notice, whenever I saw another person, a brief flash of angry thoughts that was quickly suppressed by a second wave of rationalization or depression.
