- It was time!
- The contraption had been completed. The PRFD, as Adrian liked to call it, was ready for field testing. The scholar had been sitting in his desk the past few days, detailing more articulated notes in regards to the process that went into the concept and design. He closed his tome and latched it behind his back, picking up the bracer and placing four water shards into the four separate prongs.
- Clink!
- He smiled, picking up the bracer and equipping it.
- It was the size of a large bracelet with a fair bit of height to it. It went from the wrist to the center of the forearm. Adrian moved his arm around a little bit to test the weight. It wasn't too cumbersome. It weighed as much as a standard combative gauntlet, maybe even a little less.
- Adrian made his way out of his study and onto the outer lying stretches of his estate, onto an open field. He looked up to the sky, closing his eyes and basking in the smell of progress. Then, he crouched down.
- His hand was extended forwards as his tome removed itself from the leather straps it had been confined to, flying into his hands as it's pages opened. A brilliant blue cling to the pages, making it impossible to see whatever might have been written. The Enchiridion, as he had named it, was the catalyst used to summon his magical energy. He used it whenever he wrote runes, and on the rare occasions where he got into skirmishes. It helped him focus that raw, unrefined magical energy that coursed under his skin like a separate entity striving for dominance over his vessel.
- With his other hand, he unlatched the bracer and placed at the center of the field. Before long intricate runic arrays were carved into the grass as a cyan light bled from the complex geometries of his handiwork. One by one, symbols were etched into the appropriate places. It was the most potent kind of water ritual a runescribe could make.
- Now all he had to do was wait.
- (Adrian Montbell)
