  1. [09:17] It'd probably been long enough for Kofe to show up at the church, right? Alexander being put on a path of recovery that was good enough for him to not mess up everything was crucial for the next step.
  2.
  3. A slow approach of the King was made and a look was exchanged. There was likely a lot of things to say, to tell, to express.
  4.
  5. Yet a look may speak for itself far, far more than any words would.
  6. (Kofe)
  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [09:18] Alexander remains sat, quietly conversing with Esbern while acolytes watched the King's state. He seemed to be able to be approached, judging by how the guards watched but he was still out of commission for the current duration. His duties relegated.
  10.
  11. Already a tough time for Osrona made that much worse.
  12.
  13. And then the king's gaze befalls Kofe who approaches, a silent stare given in response. Emotion void in the Petrakis gaze.
  14. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
  15. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16.
  17. [09:21] A gaze that didn't have much to offer from the the King was more worrisome than a frown to Kofe. The Rhoynish shook his head slightly and finally spoke.
  18.
  19. "That's not a good look on you, Alex."
  20.
  21. A thought lingered before he prompted the reason he was here in the first place.
  22.
  23. "Got time for a walk?"
  24. (Kofe)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [09:24] There is silent judgement in the look Kofe expressed, perhaps reflecting the words of the other night.
  28.
  29. "No," he admits honestly. "But even if I did, I am still not recovered," he tells. The white robes, the solemness about the king's expression.
  30.
  31. "Do you need something?" it was clear the betrayal of several months ago after that war battle stung deep. Only furthered by the situation with Alice. Alexander speaks shortly, and politely but with no real emotion to his inflection.
  32. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
  33. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34.
  35. [09:28] "Yeah."
  36.
  37. Normally someone may just try to twist their way into getting something from the recovering man, to shift the ideas away from a direct request and make it sound like it was just... mentionned off-handedly. But Kofe wasn't the type to lie.
  38.
  39. "I need my friend to start feeling better."
  40.
  41. The more the King pushed back against the idea of help coming from Kofe, the harder Kofe would push right back, it seemed.
  42.
  43. "I hope you don't mind that."
  44. (Kofe)
  45. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  46.
  47. [09:30] Friend?
  48.
  49. Eyes narrow some. Perhaps this talk would have been better had before a witch hexed him. Or perhaps with Alice actually in the room, like originally intended. Instead. The king's gaze is chilly and his words as well.
  50.
  51. "Leave, Kofe."
  52. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
  53. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  54.
  55. [09:36] "I'm afraid running away from this is bad for the both of us, Alex." He replied, his own gaze steeled for whatever barrage of frowns would come from the King. Lips part, and more thoughts are manifested.
  56.
  57. "I'm not here for us to talk about what I did. I don't expect that to be forgiven or forgotten at least until I patch things up with Alice, if not ever. That's not why I came, though."
  58.
  59. The young man shook his head. The more Alex pushed back, the harder Kofe fought.
  60.
  61. "I'm here 'cause I care about how you feel. I'm here because one of the people I care most about was betrayed by the person they loved the most."
  62. (Kofe)
  63. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [09:38] Esbern coughs lightly, and offers the Kofe a somber look, as one would expect from a church-goer.
  66.
  67. In a light tone with a hint of insistence, he says to him; "Perhaps it would be best if you were to have this conversation later? His majesty does need rest during this time of recuperation."
  68. (Esbern Tyr Antioch)
  69. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  70.
  71. [09:41] "Esbern's right. And I was not only betrayed by her. I was betrayed by you as well. And August. So I do not see why you feel you have any right to try to help me," he says honestly.
  72.
  73. There is no frowns, just a flat tone of brutal honesty.
  74. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
  75. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  76.
  77. [09:47] "You turned your back on your own mother. On your own family. Who cares about what she thought or plotted or wanted? She was your mom. You still had your real mother."
  78.
  79. An argument was bound to spark regardless of where that'd happen. It was.. just how it worked out.
  80.
  81. "I promised a certain hard-headded guy a while back that while I couldn't be loyal to the crown, I'd be loyal to the people I consider family. Whether it's on my side of it, or the side of the girl I love."
  82.
  83. He paused for a moment, letting Alexander's thoughts receive it all, only to add a bit more.
  84.
  85. "This isn't about how well King Alexander is doing; this is about helping my friend Alex. Crown or not."
  86. (Kofe)
  87. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  88.
  89. [09:50] Esbern closes his eyes for a moment, too long to be considered a blink, before opening them again and letting out a short sigh. His tone is not quite as light, but still remains solemn, and hushed, as he did not want to disturb the church.
  90.
  91. "Helping him in this scenario would mean letting him rest", he says simply, before adding an addendum; "For his well-being."
  92. (Esbern Tyr Antioch)
  93. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  94.
  95. [09:55] Hands starts to furl, clawing up the white robes that sat on his being.
  96.
  97. "What are you talking about?" There is some confusion that shows now, about how he apparently turned his back on his own family. But then comes the final words. A literal flat stare.
  98.
  99. "There is no separate person. I am the same man: Alexander," and then a pause.
  100.
  101. "Leave, Kofe," he repeats.
  102.
  103. Acolytes and guards now start moving over to usher the king away, given the nature of this scene. Slowly he makes move to rise up.
  104. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
  105. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  106.
  107. [09:59] "You left her behind on that battlefield."
  108.
  109. Kofe's feet shifted as he began moving southwards. It was obvious that everything wasn't going to be fixed right away. Especially without a mediator that wanted to being both sides back together.
  110.
  111. "If that's how you see it, then you're worse off that I thought."
  112.
  113. Steps were taken as he repeated words that had been said to another person. Words that sparked an argument of their own, yet, this time they might just help recovery. If only by forcing it forward.
  114.
  115. "Your own happiness matters more than your duty."
  116.
  117. The same words he'd told Alice.
  118. (Kofe)
  119. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  120.
  121. [10:05] Confusion seems palpable, and then the hints of disgust. Perhaps even anger starts to fill that void of emotion gaze.
  122.
  123. "That is for me to decide, not you," perhaps the same thing that Alice had told him. It would be where he drew the line. "Do not talk to me of my family like that again," he bluntly reaffirms. Scolding words.
  124. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
  125. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  126.
  127. [10:11] The flame of an argument had been sparked and inevitable feelings came crashing in. Where normally a certain someone had mediated their previous arguments, this time around she wasn't there.
  128.
  129. No. She'd never be there to get in-between the two of them fighting anymore. That thought alone and the mention of family left Kofe to strike the first blow. Verbally.
  130.
  131. "At the rate we're going that doesn't leave many people for me to be careful around."
  132.
  133. Marie was dead. Alice was off, outside in a safe location to try and pass the war away. Eirene was.. hard to even come by. Marie was dead. Serea, too. Odin was kept hostage. Nebula was a witch.
  134.
  135. Perhaps Kofe's words harmed his own feelings, too.
  136.
  137. Unless stopped, steps would guide him forward. Away from the man who'd fallen from grace.
  138. (Kofe)
  139. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  140.
  141. [10:16] "Get out! Do not approach me again," his voice breaks, booming through the normally quiet, reverent Church.
  142.
  143. The verbal blow was not enough to bring Alexander to act but it does start to incite anger.. and more, disgust that such a low blow was struck. Then again, it had happened a lot lately with people forgetting a certain baseline of respect. Marie before she passed. Serea, his own mother. Even August.
  144. (Alexander rei Petrakis)
