Lesser Combat Prowess

Roran took his halberd in hand as he managed to somewhat breach the gap between himself and Sylvester. Deciding to take advantage, he pulled his weapon back before striking making use of the halberd's extra reach. [1]

Roran wasn't exactly going to stop the attack, he wasn't really all that reflexive, but he was curious since the barely fought any shifter outside of Amir, the spider, still he had to admit he was impressed as he couldn't exactly contend against a shapeshifter, at least not at his current level and stats, this being shown when he was taking the damage causing him to expend some of his pain tolerance a fair bit. "Ugh, those store bought weapons are something." He groaned, clearly missing out on his part, but it did come with a rather steady price. Releasing a breath he furrowed his brow at the condition he was already in before he carefully adjusted himself as he finally decided to activate his [Icy Spirit Flame] ability, expending an action. Knowing that he would be able to bridge the gap thanks to the boons gained from his ability as he attempted to do just that by stepping into melee range of the Racoon Shifter, flames flickering around his person as the [Frostfire Aura] wrapped itself around his very being before he made an attempt to perform a strike at the hands the man held his weapons in.

Roran released a breath, he really would like to unleash the full force of his ability, but that was just unfortunate for him at the moment. He sighed as he made an attempt to block the incoming damage as he narrowed his gaze at the dagger potentially stabbing into him as he thought of ways to counter a Shapeshifter's battle prowess. He couldn't, as his best bet was just his weapon and ability, which wasn't exactly helping him at the moment. Thinking a bit on his toes, he activated his [Superior Guard] technique to at least reduce the damage down, but he couldn't exactly do enough. Then, taking his halberd back in hand he made another attempt to slash at the Racoon Shifter [4]

Roran took another instance of damage upon himself, but it was good, as it was a learning experience, one that he would have to end now. This was the first time he truly couldn't do anything against someone, and how the gap between Metahumans and Shapeshifters had shown him thus far. And while interesting it was equally as frustrating to say the least, as he wasn't able to touch him before they had fully shifted, and some, like Jaison and Colby, those were vastly different and stronger. He had a lot he needed to work on, but the first thing he wanted to do was pass some thresholds he set for himself, deceiving his kill he took a breath once he received the damage done.
