- all g
- can you do me a favor?
- explain how aptitude as a stat works. I know it's not how strong an ability is, rather the control of it. Narratively it's said, 'god tier beats god tier', but how is that gonna be handled? How would one roll their end, agi, or ref against an apt roll against different tiers?
- etc
- LooperToday at 9:31 AM
- Alrigty then, a lot of it is story driven but apititue is a stat that could allow a lower tier to beat a god tier
- everyone in teh tabletop is gunna have lower apititute
- you're control and understanding of abilities
- allows you to be more creative
- yeah your ability can't do much as a god tier
- but you can use it creatively
- FractalToday at 9:32 AM
- Mhm, more me just wondering mathematically how it's meant to work as a system.
- LooperToday at 9:32 AM
- just roll it and then I create a story with it : 3
- you tell me what you are trying to do
- and based on how well you roll I'll tell you what happened
- there's no math to it XD
- FractalToday at 9:33 AM
- Like deciding "oh a low tier rolled high on end but a god tier rolled low on their ability roll" how does it work? It's still a truck hitting someone, is the idea right? How would we decide what the truck did, if we don't base it to rolls.
- LooperToday at 9:33 AM
- it's purely narative
- you mean both a god tier nd a low tier is gunna get hit by a truck?
- is that what you're asking?
- FractalToday at 9:34 AM
- no like saying a power
- of a god tier is like a truck
- it's big, and it does damage right?
- LooperToday at 9:34 AM
- I would need to know what the god tier is trying to do
- FractalToday at 9:35 AM
- let's say it's dynamo
- trying to make an explosion
- LooperToday at 9:35 AM
- and the low tier is like blink let's say
- FractalToday at 9:35 AM
- no no
- LooperToday at 9:35 AM
- their powers really matter
- FractalToday at 9:35 AM
- let's just say
- LooperToday at 9:35 AM
- in this senario
- if they are both rolling aptitute
- FractalToday at 9:35 AM
- ignoring powers i'm not worried about that
- i'm more wondering
- LooperToday at 9:35 AM
- no frac
- I need to know teir power
- to explain it to you
- FractalToday at 9:35 AM
- how would one roll end, agi, or ref
- LooperToday at 9:35 AM
- ._.
- FractalToday at 9:36 AM
- Okay, well go on then.
- LooperToday at 9:36 AM
- apititute is way different
- than all the other stats
- it's a narrative power. However fast an explosion happens, is how fast it's gunna be
- aptitude is how well they control it, so how big it is, where it went, what sort of their power (for dynamo it should have multiple possibilities).
- depending on all of that
- each check wil be different
- if they rolled really low and accidently flung it in the air
- they don't need to roll anything agianst it
- they woudl ahve exploded themselves
- they could have done it to another building
- thus leading to a different check on if that building is gunna land on you
- god tiers will hit like a truck if they an land their ability
- you are all in first year, your abilities are random
- there is even a chance for a low tier to accidently blink into the ability
- or blink smack into a wall
- rather than getting away XD
- FractalToday at 9:39 AM
- hrmm, but he rolled low, so even with a low roll dynamo can make a building fall
- LooperToday at 9:40 AM
- yeah
- but his control of it sucks
- so it could have been a tiny explosion
- or an overly huge one
- at somwhere random
- depending on what they wanted to do
- like...
- FractalToday at 9:41 AM
- well then lets use creation as an example
- LooperToday at 9:41 AM
- If someone said, I want to make a small explosion on his cuffs to set him free.
- and rolled low.
- He could accidently cause a huge explosion on the person, or
- accidently threw that explsion on himself
- FractalToday at 9:41 AM
- trying to go gilgamesh and send a volley of weapons to impale
- how would that work?
- LooperToday at 9:42 AM
- If you rolled low, you'd probably be only able to make way lessthan what you were trying, or you made just the same amount but they are all fucked up and not very stable. or you lost control of them and while you're making them they are just falling (this one is more like you rolled low, but almost there though).
- FractalToday at 9:45 AM
- so let's say someone rolls high on this or low
- and the other person does get hit
- how would we determine how much damage is done to them?
- LooperToday at 9:47 AM
- Well it's all narrative
- depends on teh ability
- if it was neon and they hit someone
- it would cause them to get really cold
- also if it was a sword neon
- they would also get cut
- depending on what their natural durrability is
- FractalToday at 9:47 AM
- well no
- use creation as an example
- LooperToday at 9:48 AM
- Okayyy o-o
- FractalToday at 9:48 AM
- please XD sorry just trying to wrap my head around it
- LooperToday at 9:48 AM
- doing the sword of babalon?
- FractalToday at 9:48 AM
- sure
- LooperToday at 9:48 AM
- question frac
- what would happen if someone got hit by that
- normally?
- that's how it would be
- FractalToday at 9:48 AM
- well i'd say it depends where they get hit
- how much hits them
- but my question is how to determine how much and where they get hit
- LooperToday at 9:49 AM
- I can manipulate it if need be
- but if they were all hitting in teh same dirrection
- and where royal or somene was aiming it specifically
- FractalToday at 9:49 AM
- what if in-general they weren't aiming for them
- LooperToday at 9:49 AM
- they I would assume a bunch of sword are gunna take over teh area of a normal person
- FractalToday at 9:49 AM
- just sent a volley at them
- like were aiming at them but no specific place
- LooperToday at 9:49 AM
- they would get speared in a few locations
- I'd just get them to roll 1d100
- FractalToday at 9:49 AM
- alright, alright
- LooperToday at 9:49 AM
- to see how bad of a condition they were
- FractalToday at 9:49 AM
- I think i'm getting it a bit
- LooperToday at 9:50 AM
- it's luck at that point
- FractalToday at 9:50 AM
- it's less a concrete system on how stuff is happening
- and more
- "well let's say this happens"
- LooperToday at 9:50 AM
- narrative : 3
- not really
- it's more..
- realistic?
- do you know how many times a random like..
- pin prick like cut someoe open
- or like..
- a knife didn't even do damage?
- that's because we relied on rolls so much
- all of that doesn't even make sense
- even if you hardcore tanked a knife
- it's a fucking knife
- you don't suddenly have skin of steel
- you took it really well and you aren't reelling in the pain
- but dude
- you got stabbed even if it was shallow
- or sliced like a papercut
- or something
- it's a bladed weapon XD
