RPGLB stuff

Got the news on Saturday that my SMRPG Most of the Stuff run is gonna be the closer for RPGLB. I'm sure you saw by my tweet about it that I'm completely over the moon about this, and those of you who saw my stream on Saturday saw me have an emotional outburst in the middle of a SMRPG rando call with my best friend lol. That's huge for me. I love RPGLB and my 2017 any% run was my favourite marathon run of my own to date, and while it wasn't my best execution-wise, it's the marathon performance I'm most proud of. I was really not expecting the run to be accepted this year, but I submitted anyway to stay on their radar (with some convincing from bich on the morning of the final day of submissions) after I spent most of 2018 being inactive in speedrunning.

That's just... I don't know, man. I'm not a veteran in the speedrun community by any means, and to get to do the closer this year with my favourite speedrun is a new experience for me and a huge honour. I think this'll be the largest audience that this category of SMRPG has ever been exposed to at one time and I want to do it, and the event, justice.

This on top of the fact that an extremely generous and kind friend has fully funded my plane ticket after I got fucked out of 600 dollars by the CRA has me motivated to put on the best marathon run of my life. I'm going to do you all proud. I don't know what I did to deserve this opportunity, and I far less understand what I did to deserve the support, but I'm confident and ready to buckle down and prep for it.

I'm also thrilled that FF4FE will be the previous night. This community, for real... Y'all are just wonderful. I think out of everyone who was happy for me getting to be the closer (and I see all of you and love and appreciate you), FF4FE ppl were collectively the most ecstatic, even for a completely different game. I was saying in the discord that I got into the game in a pretty random (heh) way and it feels like I got adopted by a big huge family. I felt this way about the Earthbound community in 2017 too. Thank you all for being amazing.



Rando stuff

HOLY HELL, SMRPG RANDO IS TAKING OVER! It feels like out of nowhere that our silly fun little project has blown up, and a lot of that is from streamers like Andy and Ivan and Cable and Albrecht and others playing it and being positive/enthusiastic about it even through softlocks, difficult bosses, and other (now-patched) bugs. The rando section of the discord is seeing a lot of new faces which hopefully means we'll be seeing plenty of fresh ideas (and hopefully not too many crash reports!) But the game wouldn't be getting so much good publicity if it wasn't made awesome by Alanim and Flek (and now Swinch too) working their butts off on this passion project. You guys fucking own and this rando is too fun. I'm having so much fun playing it with my friends lately. Thank you everyone who's been working on this and playing this.

I've also been contributing some logic stuff to the rando - I worked out the numbers for extrapolated level 1 strats and the numbers for boss shuffling, and I've also proposed new logic for shop randomization, equip stat randomization, and item costs, as well as the logic for the upcoming chest/reward shuffle. I don't contribute to any of the code, but I wanted to help in some way, and this has been a fun way to do it. I hope you're all as excited as I am for it!



Other stuff

19 more days until I get to see my favourite person in the world again. Haven't seen him since AGDQ 17. Can you tell I'm in a good mood? <3
