- Today’s Pathfinder 2e session was nuts. In order of what I remember:
- - walked straight through an aoe confusion hazard to teleport to our next area. I crit the save despite will being my weakest by rolling an 18.
- - fought two mages made of bug swarms, weakness to aoe but resistance to physical. they put me in a maze after i got up close with disruptive stance but i came back when they forgot to sustain 3 turns later. One was left and next to my allies who were very low and i needed to end this. My plan was to fly in, and grab; if I succeeded, free action use my sash of prowess to make it a crit and restrain them. Wail on them from there while i tank everyone’s aoe spells to trigger their weakness. Fly in. Grab, miss. Fuck it, hero point to reroll (we only usually get one a session, dm is stingy). *nat 20*, already restrained. Intimidate roll but fail to do anything.
- Rolls around to his turn eventually. Uses 2 actions to try and escape (my dc 47 athletics for grabs did not work well for him). Uses a concentrate action to try and dissolve into a swarm of bugs to lose being grabbed…reactive strike because of my disruptive stance. 54+flanking, 56 total, crit, *115 damage*. He still resists enough to cling onto life but he’s still restrained. Allies finish him off.
- We heal and rest up, and end up against the king in yellow (whose avatar here is starlight glimmer!) and two guards. Battle begins. They don’t hit too hard but Glimmer puts up a prismatic wall to block us from getting to her easily. My character sees an opportunity though, and runs up to the wall…before activating the mercurial mantle she has to teleport right next to Glimmer since she can **see** her, and teleportation explicitly does not pass you ‘through’ two points, just removes and places you at the end. This includes a strike; I hit and do 33 slashing but am told she resists a big chunk, so probably has at least resistance 20. Still.
- We realize prismatic wall has a will save for those within 20 feet, and I’m within 20 feet, so…blinded for a round. Oops. We dont do it for the prev attack but will for the remainder of my turn.
- Cleric banks on a 5% chance and uses gust of wind against one of the guards…and wins. They crit fail and get blown 30 feet directly through Glimmer’s prismatic wall, eating **all seven layers** and coming out very damaged, slowed for a minute, and *permanently* confused. Hilarity ensues as even she goes “okay what the fuck that was my spell these guys SUCK”
- Their turn rolls around. Guards end up paying tribute to bard cuz of high level spell for most actions. Glimmer moves away, knowing I’m blind…but not that I have blindfight. We rule that since she’s higher level she wouldn’t be adjacent = hidden…but since my Third Eye senses **all** magical auras within 30 feet and does not require vision to perceive them, she is only concealed to me, and blindfight negates that. She eats two reactive strikes. One miss, one crit (but pitiful damage, only 63 slashing), but 4d4 persistent void (ignores immunity and resist). She is very displeased at this, and so uses Quandary to send me into a maze. You get no save for being thrown into it so I just poof, but her turn ends.
- Despite shenanigans it’s not looking good. I’m the only one with any chance at chipping Glimmer down and her spell dc is demonstrably at least 47. My highest save is reflex at 34. I need a 13 to beat that. My perception is my highest maze escape stat, +30…meaning I need at LEAST a 17 to escape. I proceed to roll terribly for two more turns *with advantage from a homebrew pony ancestry feat* while my allies keep eating terrible “everyone make a save, okay you all fail and sometimes crit fail” spells.
- Session ends with me stuck indefinitely in a maze unless she either drops her sustain or I nat 20 and pop out, they stupefy her somehow and manage to make her fail the concentrate to sustain, or…well, TPK-1 and then I come back to a very bad situation. Even though I’m level 18 while they’re 17 thanks to the deck of many things, there’s strong suggestions that the avatar of the king of yellow is “at least” level 20. We are VERY outmatched, even with the generous overloot our gm gives us (I have a level 23 relic gun that can double-shot with advantage and apply the higher att roll to both shots, for example)
- So uh. Yeah. Real nailbiter. Woulda kept going but it’s far too late lmao
