that was until sungjin turned thirteen. he had gotten his very first fail on a test. he remembers bringing it home and his parents being in utter shock.

he remembers his parents giving him their utmost attention, always asking if he got the material. it felt good to be acknowledged. if he couldn't get any positive attention from his parents, the negative attention was a perfect substitute.

sungjin began failing more tests, he quit the soccer team, and he let his hair grow out. his parents never looked over him again.
