  1. Pokemon Emerald Any% Glitchless FAQ
  2.
  3. Q: What do you play this game on?
  4. A: I play on an original Nintendo DS.
  5.
  6. Q: What are you trying to do?
  7. A: Beat Pokemon Emerald as fast as possible without using glitches.
  8.
  9. Q: What is that annoying ticking sound?
  10. A: The ticking sound is Flow Timer, a program that acts as a metronome with sound cues for RNG manipulation. I to press "A" on the 5th beep each time he activates it. This essentially makes RNG manipulating anything and everything in a Pokemon game much easier.
  11.
  12. Q: Okay, but why are there so many of them?
  13. A: Pokemon Emerald is riddled with points where RNG manipulation makes the game smoother and faster. Mudkip manipulation is one of these points where it can be extended to not only get a really good nature with stats, but I can also get 0 encounters all the way to Rival 1. The next manipulation is Abra into Tailow chain manipulation. This saves a lot of travel time and the headache of having to grab a 40% Swablu later in the game. The final manipulation is Rayquaza stat and Yolo ball manipulation. This saves a bit of time from having to grab the Master Ball inside of the Aqua base, and it also saves you the headache of getting bad stats on Rayquaza.
  14.
  15. A: What stats does the manipped Mudkip have?
  16. Q: It has a Naughty nature with IVs of 21/23/28/30/29/29.
  17.
  18. A: What stats does the manipped Rayquaza have?
  19. Q: Unfortunately I won't know until I see the HP values of Rayquaza, but here are the 6 different ones we can get in the cluster. Relaxed 2/31/7/19/5/19, Relaxed 19/19/5/30/30/3, Brave 3/30/30/25/12/13, Adamant 13/25/12/29/28/28, Quiet 28/29/28/23/13/20, Brave 20/23/13/11/9/17.
  20.
  21. Q: Why do you keep resetting?
  22. A: Probably cause I died, missed the RNG manipulation, or just didn't feel the run was great.
  23.
  24. Q: Why don't you just grab a Mudkip and run with it?
  25. A: Stats are an important factor when running any Pokemon game. I could just grab a Mudkip and go, but I'd rather not waste that much time to just end up dead later on because my stats are awful.
  26.
  27. Q: Why do you fight Brawly so late into the game?
  28. A: Brawly is a pretty rough gym leader to fight early on in this generation. Also to my knowledge, you need a very specific nature in order to even fight the guy.
  29.
  30. Q: What Pokemon do you use during this run?
  31. A: We generally use Mudkip for about 3/4ths of the game. Abra for Teleport. Catch a flier that's usually either Swablu or Tailow. Grab Castform in the weather center to have a Pokemon who can double battle. Then we finish off the final gym and the Elite 4 with Rayquaza.
  32.
  33. Q: Is it not faster to just finish the rest of the game with just Mudkip vs. Rayquaza?
  34. A: Surprisingly, no. Even with the amount of time it takes in order to get to Rayquaza, catch Rayquaza, then fly back to the last gyms location, it's actually faster to finish the rest of the game with Rayquaza. You take a lot less risk as well.
  35.
  36. Q: Why pick the girl?
  37. A: Your rival is the opposite sex, and the boy talks less and is slightly easier to beat when you face him.
  38.
  39. Q: Why do you get off your bike just to get back on it a few seconds later?
  40. A: This is likely run-into-bike manipulation. I basically run to force a spinner to stay in the same direction for a certain number of frames, then I get on my bike asap to manipulate his position and safely pass him. This is very precise and hard to pull off sometimes so you may see me do bag manipulation if all else fails.
