Belle Williams is a speed demon. Flying through the streets of New York in her tricked-out taxi, she&#39;s earned a rep as New York&#39;s fastest cabbie. But driving a hack is only a pit stop for her real dream: Belle wants to be a race car champion. And she&#39;s well on her way--until she&#39;s derailed by overeager cop Andy Washburn, whose undercover skills are matched only by his total ineptitude behind the wheel. Washburn, whose lack of vehicular skills has landed him in the precinct doghouse, is hot on the heels of a gang of beautiful Brazilian bank robbers, led by Vanessa, their cold, calculating--and leggy--leader. To nab the evasive crooks, drivers license-less Washburn convinces Belle to team up with him to pursue Vanessa and crew. Belle has carte blanche to drive at any speed and break any law. The car-less cop and speed-demon cabbie--New York&#39;s unlikeliest partners-- begin a high-speed game of cat and mouse with the robbers. That is, if Belle and Washburn don&#39;t end up killing each other first.
A mouthy and feisty taxicab driver has hot tips for a green and inept cop set on solving a string of New York City bank robberies committed by a quartet of female Brazilian bank robbers.
What can I say...This movie was by far the worst two hours I have ever spent on a movie in my life (Besides the two hours I spent on Soul Plane). I don&#39;t think I remember laughing at any of the lame ass jokes of this lame excuse for a movie. Why Queen Latifah agreed to work on this garbage is beyond me. Jimmy Fallon..i&#39;m not surprised because after Chris Rock there hasn&#39;t been anything decent coming out of SNL. A sorry excuse for a story is also present in this mess...Beautiful statuesque model-looking females working for some loser ass bank robber..WTF???..I have to admit for a minute there in the end the action got a little decent, but that was like the best thing out of the whooole movie! I would rate this movie down there with Soul Plane as the worst movies of 2004 or perhaps history! Stay away from this one, please!
MAN! I was in the theater watching that crap and all i could think of is &quot; Is that an unfinished screener or something?&quot; 30 minutes into the movie i couldn&#39;t wait to bash it on IMDb. I&#39;m not a big movie basher but this one? On the other hand it&#39;s a good thing for people to see this piece of crap because everything else is gonna be so much better after. I mean, Police Academy 7 is an Oscar winning movie compared to that stinkfest. everything sucks from beginning to end. The car sucks, Jim Fallon sucks, that actress wannabe Gisele Bundchen (Vanessa). The director (Tim Story) should beat is own self up or something. watch out marvel movie lovers, his next movie is the fantastic four. Boy, am i looking forward to that (not at all). Tim Story, i have two words for ya, YOU STINK!! Even Uwe Boll is better that you and thats bad.<br/><br/>I give that junk a 1 out of 10 for Queen Latifah. Poor girl.<br/><br/>P.S.The french version is a 100 times better. It&#39;s a 100% more real and the characters are MUCH better.
Taxi's only saving grace is an inexplicable, though delightful, turn by Ann-Margret as Andy's ever-tipsy mom. She's a stitch, and about 100 times better than her surrounding material.
