- Extracting Models from SK New Link
- Part I -- Installing and Rooting Bluestacks
- 1. Install Bluestacks
- 2. Follow the instructions shown here: https://www.theworldsbestandworst.com/2021/12/root-bluestacks/
- 2a. If link is dead, then search in your BlueStacks installation for bluestacks.conf and open the file in Notepad. It should be in a folder named Bluestacks_nxt
- 2b. Search the file for “bst.feature.rooting=” and change its value from 0 to 1.
- 2c. Now search for “enable_root_access=” and change its value from 0 to 1.
- 2d. Save the modified bluestacks.conf
- IMPORTANT STEP FOLLOWS
- 3. After saving bluestacks.conf, right-click on it and select Properties: check the attribute box Read-only. Bluestacks likes to overwrite this file to mess up your root so it's important to make bluestacks.conf read-only after you change and save it.
- 4. Install Root Checker from Google Play and use it to verify that your Bluestacks is rooted.
- 5. Now that BlueStacks is rooted, you can install New Link. For some reason the old method of using a VPN has been making my game freeze, so I found an alternate way to get the game by installing QooApp and installing NL from it. Seems to work fine.
- 6. After installing NL, the game will probably ask to update and offer two choices. The Bulk Download is the choice on the left so CHOOSE that. It will take a long time to install but you can access all of the most recent in-game models.
- 7. After installing New Link, then search in Google Play for an app named Total Commander and install it. Total Commander will help you find and access the rooted assets.
- Part II -- Getting Models Using Total Commander
- 1. After installing Total Commander, open it. On the right side of the panel, search inside the data folder for "shimomas". It should be in a folder named jp.hpgames.shinomas.
- 2. Inside that folder is another called assets\chara\model. All your models are in there.
- 3. To copy them to your PC, go to the LEFT side of the panel and navigate to mnt/windows/Documents and create a folder for your extracted models (mine is New Link Assets) then click on that folder.
- 4. Now on the right side of the panel, click on the model folder to put a green checkmark on it.
- 5. Click and hold on the model folder and drag it to the left side where your empty folder on your PC is. It should offer you to the choice to move or copy the files. Choose Copy; it'll take it a while to copy the models to your PC. The click-drag feature in Total Commander is kinda dumb so click-holding then dragging may take a few times to get it to work.
- 6. Minimize BlueStacks and navigate to the folder on your PC where you copied the game assets. Your models should all be in that folder.
- Congratulations, you have extracted the models from the game. Now that you have them, you need to be able to import them into Blender so you can play with them.
- Part III -- importing models
- -- The models in New Link are in a .lzs format. You can import them into Blender 2.80+ with the addon located here. Install it into Blender and you can import and export the files
