  1. (19:25:54) Cecille Gadhavi exited out of the Lichtenberg, a sleek, blue-grey vessel known to house a group of space-pirates who had settled down to start rather loudly advertising lifted cybernetic goods. One would think the good doctor would have higher standards than that! But alas. Slinging their doctor's bag over one shoulder, they toddled down the ramp, looking out of place in the shuffle of seedier ships and peoples. Around them, hot merchandise was shifting hands and unmarked credsticks were being tucked away. New Haven was free of the GalFed's regulations, but people of a similar sort tended to congregate together. With a glance around their surroundings, they headed off back towards the main market square.

  3. (19:36:54) Roughneck'd been in the mix, perusing ill-gotten goods, having a toothy, vaguely salacious conversation here an there-- generally rubbing elbows with the ne'er do wells of the universe, when the good doctor and their overly tidy appearance caught his eye. The Kura wasn't the sort to pass up a story, and there had to be a story here-- however short. With a snap of his bulbed tail, he wove through the crowd to slink with a tappity-tap of taloned toes on concrete up alongside Ceci, matching their pace and looming with a sense of purpose and belonging that - quite frankly - was not earned. "What's the story here? Clean cut sort with a haul of hot goods? Seems unusual." He adjusted the tinted shades over sharp, dual-pupiled eyes, sharkish grin expressing interest, amusement.... hunger? It was so hard to read what all that tooth meant in his species.
  4. (19:51:30) Cecille Gadhavi's speed was not hurried, and they were easy enough for anyone to catch up with. Their short little human legs had no chance of outrunning most of the towering races here. They didn't show much interest in the goods being hocked around them, gaze off into the distance. And so the shadow didn't immediately register until their eyes drifted to one side, and the doctor visibly startled with a little "oh," free hand moving to their chin. They blinked up at him a few times before answering. "Goodness, well. I hope you haven't come to blackmail me about it. I wouldn't want my ill-gotten goods exposed." Their sass was airy and cheerful, and while a hand still hovered near their mouth, they tilted their head with an amused>

  7. (20:05:43) Roughneck's particular species wasn't quite as prolific as the cancerous spread of humans across the known universe, but surely one or two had spotted crews from here to the Serpent's Eye. Either way, he didn't seem to to register his kind's newness, feeling he was really quite standard as a sight. Ears rolled, pivoted, twitched and occasionally locked in any one direction, as it stood, he had one trained on them, and another sourcing noises from all over the hangar. Eyes narrowed in a scheming squint and a layered 'hrum-ham' sounded from his throat, "I suppose that depends." He lowered his snout. "Are you very well off? I don't suppose you'd be tellin' me either way, but I've been told it never hurts t'ask." He tutted, primary pupils visibly shrinking and growing beneath varied lighting. "If you are, then yes. I intend to leverage my knowledge of your dirty dealings against you unless you pay me a sum of creds I haven't quite figured out yet." He grinned and - once again - it was all teeth.

  9. (20:16:17) Cecille Gadhavi. Cancerous! ...Cecille preferred 'like cockroaches', personally. They were a medical doctor, expected to be familiar with most common races encountered--but that was by no means exhaustive. Mobius was exhaustive. The doctor muttered a few names under their breath. The prehensile tail was familiar. The bulb narrowed it down...! Didn't the pedaskids have something similar? No, the ears weren't right. His question sidetracked their train of thought, and they muffled a laughing 'hm-hm'. "Oh, you could say that." Please don't spoogle their net worth. A few pending court cases might come up. "Oh dear. How will I cope?" Their hand had moved to cup their cheek in mock distress, but curiosity got the better of them and they were unable to keep the pose. They leaned in on their toes. What big teeth! "Kura, correct?"
  10.
  11. (20:33:11) Roughneck's squint returned at her muttering, and in an effort to switch up what he felt was a stale talking angle, he halted pace for a step and slunk around behind them to take their other side in keeping pace, hands clutched at his back. Ears continued their ceaseless twitching, tightly furled against the din of the hangar and he stooped a fraction more. "You're not supposed to tell me that-- look where you are, geez." Posture straightened once more and he stared cock-eyed down the length of his nose at them, considering his options, whilst tail coiled an swayed in an expressive fashion behind him, "I don't know, you've put me in a precarious situation. On the one hand, my credo says take full advantage, on the other, I was just bored and you stood out as an excellent mark for harrassment to pass the time." At the query on his species, he nodded his head. "Kura." Agreed in a parroted fashion, tinted glasses nudge up the length of his nose a bit.
  12.
  13. (20:47:53) Cecille Gadhavi's pace stuttered as they turned to see where he'd disappeared to, before twisting in the opposite direction as he returned. Well. They certainly felt stalked. A predator circling prey. "I wasn't? Hm." Eyes fell downcast, sizing up their obvious Social Faux Pas. They'd made a bad impression, clearly! And had nothing to do with how Kidnappable they'd just made themself seem. "Did I pass? As an 'excellent mark for harassment', that is." That glee danced in their sleepy gaze again, and they started up walking again. "Well, if you are committing to kidnap or blackmail, I don't suppose I can schedule you in for next week instead? I've some other errands to run first." Unable to commit to sass or curiosity, they added very offhandedly, "your tail is for defence, correct?" They wanted to see! And not die.
  14.
  15. (20:56:36) Roughneck's predatory nature was deeply ingrained and stalking satisfied some animal need for it-- entirely harmless, he'd assure them... mostly. Most of the time. In this case, probably so. You could take the Kura out of the subterranean jungle, but you couldn't take the subterranean jungle out of the Kura, apparently. "No, it was an excellent wrench to throw directly into a well oiled bluff machine." So then, he was bluffing? The wily cant of ears and narrowed eyes on the canid beast seemed to directly contradict that, but who knew? "Ooooh," He 'tssed' against the backs of his teeth, pulling a grimace. "I can't make that work, I might not be here next week. I don't suppose you could cram all of your errands into a single outing, and at the close, we could commence kidnap and ransom?" He tilted in a puppish fashion, brows arched. He broke the look for a glance at the leathery bulbed tail coiling hither and thither behind him and made a thoughtful sound. "Ah, well, yes and no. I can >
  16. (20:56:54) Roughneck > use it whenever the fancy takes me, but I suppose originally it was defensive, yes."
  17.
  18. (21:11:28) Cecille Gadhavi. He started to play into their barbs and sass, and that brought a proper smile to the little doctor's face. They pushed it aside in favour of keeping up pretenses. "Oh, ah. Hm, let me see..." They finally opened their physician's bag, where likely they stashed all their ill-gotten goods, and pulled out a dataslate. They made a show of checking their calendar. "Perhaps, perhaps... Oh," they hummed and hawed on a realization. "Unfortunately my current rabble of Doting Loved Ones is out-of-office, and will not be available to accept the ransom until at *least* two days from now." Oh! How would they ever make this work? They tried not to side-eye the tail too obviously. "How fascinating.... I will have to read up more on the kura. Hm, I believe I missed your name." You know. Swapping contacts to better plan a kidnapping.
  19.
  20. (21:19:59) Roughneck enjoyed a good back and forth, and it certainly kept the enrichment lacking beastie from being bored. He felt quite enriched presently! Hemlock waited impatiently, with some faux look of displeasure at being so put upon by their need to check their schedule and see where the kidnapping might fit in. With a mighty sigh, his posture deflated and he worked his jaw. "Well that's just not going to do. I can't work like this, no matter how much you're worth in creds!" he threw his hands up, before the human's curiosity triggered his original training and he willed the tail around and into waiting hands, giving her - at the very least - a close up of the speckled plant leather encasing the filaments within. "Lieh'cretos-Koe'endripeub." Came his greeting, but it was impossible to say, given the eerie layering of sounds that comprised it-- it was anatomically impossible. "Ah, but I was dubbed "Hemlock" for ease of interaction between my kind and single-voice species. One day we'll sort >
  21. (21:20:24) Roughneck > out the shorthand and I'll be able to be called something closer to my real name, but until then... Hemlock suits."
  22.
  23. (21:46:13) Cecille Gadhavi certainly enjoyed it, they were having trouble keeping their amusement hidden. The grin tugged at their lips, left them occasionally fidgeting a hand to hide it. "I am terribly sorry to disappoint. Perhaps..." They rooted around in their pockets, a dramatic show before pulling a card from its usual place in the breast pocket of their nehru vest. In that time, they had a tail offered to them, and they reached out to touch it with their free hand, unabashed intrigue consuming their tan features. They tried to mouth the name soundlessly despite themself, taking complete advantage of the situation to poke at the appendage. "Ah...! A symbolic name, I assume. Hemlock." They liked it. Free hand reached out to offer their card between two fingers. "Doctor Cecille Gadhavi." Hopefully he took it, because with a bumbling lack of awareness they looked down at the tablet they'd still been juggling and noticed the time. "Oh--dear... That took longer than I intended." Fumbling >
  24. (21:46:18) Cecille Gadhavi>to tuck it back in their bag, they turned to dash off suddenly. "Another time. Or--call if you are interested in any augmentations." They raised a hand in parting and promptly fled.
