- In Los Angeles, California, a gang of bank robbers call themselves The Ex-Presidents. commit their crimes while wearing masks of ex-Presidents Reagan, Carter, Nixon, and Johnson. The F.B.I. believes that the members of the gang could be surfers, and send young Agent Johnny Utah undercover at the beach to mix with the surfers and gather information. Utah meets surfer Bodhi, and gets drawn into the lifestyle of his new friend.

Inevitably, Johnny walks a thin line. How far will he go without blowing his cover?
- Immensely Popular Mediocre Movie Directed by the Slightly Above Average, and highly Overrated Bigelow. Her Films almost Always seem to arrive just Short of Excellent. Her First Film, a Vampire Gore Fest, Near Dark (1987) is still Her Best.<br/><br/>Highly acclaimed and now an Oscar Winner, even Her latest, Critically Applauded, Commercially Successful Movies are Objectively still only Slightly Above Average.<br/><br/>In this Bad Actors galore Surfer/Crime Action Flick it is the Action and the accomplished Visual Patina of the Thing that make It (again), Slightly Above Average. The foot Chase, Surfing, and Skydiving Scenes are much Touted by the Cultists who Adore this thing.<br/><br/>Also frequently Mentioned as an Appeal are the Two Leading "Lights" of Thespianism, Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze who are considered Handsome Hunkyness. Trouble Is, once They open Their Pretty Mouths, IQ's begin to Drop Exponentially.<br/><br/>There Isn't anything Great about this Good Looking, Entertaining, Slightly Above Average (sorry) Film, but the Fan Base is Huge and a Remake is on the way. One can only Hope that it is more than...SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE.<br/><br/>Note...Gary Busey appears in an average take on His ragged and anti-establishment persona, but He doesn't do anything to make this Movie more than....you guessed it.
- I didn't find this film to bad at all. It is a little on the dude side which is great but apart from that this is a strong story and can uphold it's cast. This was the film that made Keanu Reeves the action hero type person that he is today because all I knew of him before Point Break was the Bill and Ted movies and Parenthood. It's hard to believe that Reeves was the first person offered the part of Chris in Platoon which is a leading role and would have started him off a lot earlier in his career if he did but Charlie Sheen took it instead. I heard the reason Reeves didn't except the part was because the script was to violent. It's quite hard to image that he thought this after starring in Speed, The Matrix Trilogy and Point Break. Interesting trivia.<br/><br/>Anyway Point Break is one of the best of Patrick Swayze's career as it is for Keanu Reeves. I mean you have chicks, action, robbery, sky diving and surfing. I ask you, what could you possibly want more from an action film. I was very vulnerable when first seeing Point Break, I think I was about 10 or 11 and never really caught on that Swayze was the bad guy throughout all this because in the trailer you are not made to think that. Well that's what I thought anyway. So when watching it I was pleasantly surprised to see how it turned out and it was my first real twist in a film that I had ever seen before. <br/><br/>I know a lot of people who really dislike this but just look at it for what it is which is a fun film with more action than you need, a dozen different endings and surfers robbing banks, I mean dude what more is there to ask for Naked Chicks Surfing .Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

- Tapping the Source (1984), a novel by Kem Nunn, provided the inspiration for Point Break. It's called "Hundreds of Tears" by Sheryl Crow. Yes. There's likely no way a surfer as experienced as Bodhi could survive it. Bodhi even says earlier in the film when he describes the storm at Bell's Beach and how big the waves will be that surfing the break will be the "ultimate price".
