Monsanto paid for Folta's travel to Hawaii in a failed attempt to stop the Kauai bill for buffer zones around schools and hospitals. He testified against mere disclosures of which of the 80+ restricted use pesticides, like Atrazine that are sprayed here on a daily basis over thousands of acres of GMO seed development fields.

The bill passed and Syngenta just joined DuPont and former Nazi chemical/GMO creator BASF to sue the county despite the fact GMO and Atrazine are banned in Syngenta's home nation of Switzerland.

Maui voted for Independent Tests; however, Monsanto and Dow sued after losing the vote. The DARK act is meant to stop the 9th circuit appeal of Kauai, Maui and Hawaii counties laws. Big biotech sues the people here where over 90% of the globe's GMO seed traits are developed.

The judge in the Jackson Oregon case ruled in favor of farmers against the chemical companies the Hawaii cases would win on appeal because the Oregon judge was correct. The big six are buying this DARK act, they can't allow county bans or Independent Tests.

Unfortunately, the Orwellian named SAFE aka DARK act also prohibits county bans. The majority of the worlds GMO seeds are developed by the big six chemical companies here in Hawaii. Three of our four counties have already passed bans, buffer zones/disclosure of chemicals used and the Maui vote for independent tests. Maui beat Monsanto and Dow spending the most in the history of our states elections, over $8 million to just 65k. Judges with connections to big biotech said federal law preempts local law, when no federal law exists. The Oregon judge correctly upheld the ban in Jackson county so the two opinions are at odds. The Hawaii cases are on appeal and this DARK act is meant to avoid Independent Tests here at GMO ground zero. Everyone needs to call their Senators and hold those in congress who voted for the DARK act accountable.
